Gotta get that Ellis guy to show something else!
The next morning, the entire academy was startled by a prank.
Some floating black runes inexplicably appeared on the walls of the school building, and every scholar who passed by was randomly triggered with a small spell, such as their hair turning pink, their clothes automatically floating up, and the floor under their feet becoming super slippery ...
The worst was Ellis, who had just stepped into the lecture hall when the magic array above the podium immediately activated, turning his robes into ... a pink cloak full of imp patterns.
The lecture hall was silent.
In the next second, the students couldn't help but erupt in laughter while Nyx lay on the windowsill, propping his head up and laughing with uncontrollable arrogance.
"Geez, Ellis, pink really suits you."He whistled, his eyes carrying the obvious smugness of a successful prank.
Ellis looked down at his cloak, his eyes sinking."Nee-kee-es..."
That day, the entire academy heard the screams of the demon being violently beaten by his mentor.
Nyx was wailing from the beating, but he still smiled with particular glee, even propping himself up against the wall to catch his breath after Ellis had withdrawn his hand, patting his own clothes with a gloating expression, "It was worth it, really worth it!Did you see the looks on those students' faces?It was so funny!"
Ellis pinched his brow and took a deep breath, trying to restrain himself from going straight for another magical binding to keep the guy completely quiet for a while.He stared at Nyx, his voice low and cold, "You've gone too far this time."
Nyx shrugged with a couldn't-care-less look, "The academy is full of dead scholars all day, isn't it nice to relax once in a while?Besides, I didn't hurt anyone."
Ellis stared at him with a sullen gaze, "If you were simply playing a prank, I wouldn't bother with you.But you used the Abyssal Rune - do you think that's really okay?"
Nyx's smile paused for a moment."Huh?"He blinked, pretending not to understand, "I just used a little decorative magic, how does that make me an Abyssal Rune?"
"You think those runes are just normal prank magic?"A dangerous light flashed under Ellis' eyes, "The residual magic on that carries an abyssal aura."
Nyx really froze this time, he did just draw some runes casually, he didn't even seriously try to analyze the flow of magic power.But now that Ellis said that, he only recalled with the benefit of hindsight that those runes were indeed a little more active than he expected when they were finished.
Nyx's face was subtle for a moment, but he quickly regained his relaxed expression and said with a smile, "Ah?Is that so?It's probably because my magic has been growing too fast lately and I'm not controlling it very well."
"Nyx."Ellis called his name on a rare occasion, his voice a degree lower than usual, carrying an oppressive feeling that was impossible to ignore.
Nyx's heart stuttered.This guy, usually when he called his name, his tone always had a hint of impatience or helplessness to it, except today.
"Don't joke about things like that."Ellis stared at him, his eyes unusually serious, "Your magic power has been growing too fast lately, it's not just any ordinary growth, it's the power of the abyss closing in on you."
Nyx put away his smile and was silent for a moment, then bristled, "It's not like you don't know demons, growth is supposed to be like that."
"But you're not even an adult yet."Ellis' tone was rarely a bit harsh, "If you're affected by the power of the Abyss now, what will you become when you're an adult?"
Nyx's eyes flickered when he heard this, then he returned to his careless demeanor and said lazily, "Who knows?Probably become a little more demonic."
