Chapter 57 - Chapter 58.

Seeing this, Nyx bristled and put away his joking attitude, his eyes swept over Ellis and suddenly said, "Do you think that sooner or later I'll turn out to be something you can't control?"

Ellis was silent for a brief moment, then whispered, "It is indeed possible if you continue to let yourself go unchecked."

Nyx narrowed her eyes and said in a brisk tone, "So what? You're going to keep me locked up until I'm an adult?"

Instead of answering, Ellis looked Nyx straight in the eye, as if he was thinking about how to answer his question.

Nyx stared at him for a moment and suddenly smiled, "Ellis, aren't you actually a little sad to see me turn into a real demon?"

Ellis frowned, "Don't talk nonsense."

Nyx propped up his face and said wistfully, "You never used to mind me like this, even though you say it's punishment, aren't you a little worried?"

Ellis didn't answer, instead looking at Nyx with a complicated gaze.

After a moment, he just said lightly, "Finish copying this part before you rest."

Nyx hummed softly and lowered his head to continue writing, but the corner of his mouth curled up a little.

Nyx lowered his head to copy, occasionally sneaking glances at Ellis as if to confirm the other's attitude. The study was so quiet that the only sound left was the sound of the feather quill scratching across the parchment, and the soft sound of the candle flame dancing slightly.

Ellis stood off to the side, seemingly still flipping through his books, but Nyx knew that he had actually been watching his every move.

After a while, Nyx finally finished copying out his punishment for the day, and he tossed his quill casually onto the table, stretched, and lazily asked, "Now can I go?"

Ellis raised his eyes to look at him and calmly said, "Yes."

A trace of surprise flashed through Nix's eyes, he had thought that Ellis would continue to make things difficult for him, but he didn't expect to be let off so easily today. He raised an eyebrow, stood up and moved his somewhat stiff wrist, and was about to step out when Ellis suddenly called out to him, "Nyx."

Nyx stopped in his tracks and turned his head to look at him, "Hmm?"

Ellis's gaze was as calm as water as he looked at Nyx, as if he was weighing his words, and finally just said lightly, "Don't let me see you use magic pranks again."

Nyx blinked, the corners of his mouth quirking up slightly as he deliberately pretended not to understand, "Are you warning me, or are you worried about me?"

Ellis didn't answer, just glanced at him before turning around and continuing to organize the books on the shelves.

Seeing this, Nyx shrugged and walked out leisurely. He wouldn't admit that the moment Ellis called out to him just now, he actually felt a slight sense of anticipation in his heart.

He walked down the long corridor of the academy, the familiar air mixed with the scent of books and scrolls, and the sunlight from the window spilled through the stained glass onto the stone brick floor, reflecting mottled colors.Humming an off-key ditty, Nyx casually flicked a fallen leaf into the air, causing it to flap and swirl like a butterfly.

He didn't really rein himself in, of course; mischief was etched in his bones by nature, but -

His gaze drifted unconsciously in the direction of the study, an impish smirk on his lips.

Perhaps he could be a little more careful not to let Ellis catch him in the act.

Nyx wandered out of the main building of the academy, breathing in the free air with a rare sense of relief.Although he had been locked up by Ellis for so long, he still hadn't learned his lesson, and was even vaguely excited about it - the stricter he was disciplined, the more he wanted to rebel, which was probably the rebellious nature engraved in the demon's bones.
