Chapter 22 - CHAPTER 21

Few weeks had passed from Tyra's uproar in Andoths.

Her powers did not resurface like other times. But she still felt it within her soul, growing quietly.

She rested on her bed, covered in thick blanket after dinner. She had stared at the ceilings, counting it repeatedly.

The thought of going back to the Palace to get revenge tormented her, but she wasn't ready. She was still young and lacked knowledge. She had spent just three years in Andoths but time flew slowly, so slow that she was tempted on different occasions to end her training and journey back to Havans.

Then she remembered her Uncle - Smith, the man she once called father.

She wished that she wasn't caught up in this revenge plan, that he never told her the truth about her birth. Couldn't she just live with him for a long time? Her heart ached, she missed him deeply and wondered how he was faring.

She slowly fell asleep after moments of thinking.

Deep into the night, Rachel had come out of the wash up area. She tossed in frustration on her bed earlier at the thought of relieving herself. She had gone few times after dinner. It deprived her deeply of her sleep.

Her hair sprawled on the pillow with few strands dropping on her face, she spread out her arms and legs tiredly on the bed, staring at the ceiling with swollen eyes.Since she couldn't sleep, she decided to wait for the next time she would go to the bathroom.

"What did I even eat today?".

After a while, she heard soft whimpers from Tyra.

Tyra tossed and turned on the bed, her blanket had fallen on the floor. Her forehead was covered in droplets of sweat. Her breath quickened like she was running away from something.

She gasped as she jolted upright, her eyes widened in fear. She hugged Rachel who was sitting at the edge of her bed.

"Is it still the same nightmares?". Rachel whispered.

It was the same nightmares she had been having for weeks. They hunted her whenever she was alone, they appeared as live scenes before her, less than a vision or dream.

.....

She saw herself in a dark room. She didn't know how she ended up there, she seemed lost, staining her eyes to see beyond the darkness as she walked slowly across the room. Her heart thudding like a war drum, like it would jump out of her chest at any moment, she was all alone in the room.

She covered her eyes immediately she saw a light above, it was so bright that it could cause blindness to the weakest sight. She followed it's beam slowly, taking each step in fear but with curiousity.

She stopped when a wooden table appeared right before her. The bright light earlier wasn't daylight but shone brightly from a clay pot.

It was moulded from red moist clay, it's outline portrayed the talent of a skillful Potter. Ancient writings were inscribed on its body. She looked closely, green clouds emerged from its mouth, surrounding the room.

It hovered round her, entering her nostrils. She fell to the floor gasping for air as it suffocated her.

...

Tyra drank water like she had been thirsty for days. Droplets of water escaped from the corners of her mouth, pouring down on her night dress. She barely wiped off the droplets. She was weak, still catching her breath.

The sight of her helplessness made Rachel's heart ache. Ever since they stepped into the institution, she had strange encounters. Not long ago, she was almost dismissed because of her powers.

She hugged Tyra again, hiding the tears that welled up in her eyes.

"Everything will be alright once we leave this place". Her voice was shaky, she couldn't hide that from Tyra.

Tyra wiped the tears that had fallen on her cheeks, she smiled faintly.

"I tell myself that everyday, Rachel".

She said in her raspy voice, but her gaze betrayed her words.

They looked at each other, gaze filled with concern, worry and fear.

"But these days, I worry about what the future holds. Will it bring a happy ending or doom instead". She let out a bitter chuckle.

Her frown soon turned into a wide smile as she hugged Rachel again.

"But then, I have you and Isadore. My best friends and biggest supporters. With you both by my side, I won't be shaken".

Rachel tightened the hug as they giggled. Tyra tucked her in bed as she looked tired.

"Where are you going?" Rachel held her hand before she could leave the room.

"I'm just going for a walk, to clear my head".

She Pat her hand and left the room. This only made Rachel more worried, but she trusted Tyra at least.

...

Tyra covered herself in blanket as the night was cold, the wind was harsh. She shivered beneath, despite the thick clothing. She didn't want to think of anything as she walked through the disciple sect pathway.

It was quiet, a perfect time for spirits to wander round the earth. A second thought disturbed her greatly - she always encountered strange visions or nightmares when she was alone, and tonight wasn't any different.

But she kept walking through the pathway, she held the blankets tightly as her heart pounded against her rib cage, expecting the worst to happen till she heard a voice.

"What are you doing out here by this time?"

His voice was deep, he had spoken like he had authority.

Tyra gasped loudly as she jerked. Almost losing her balance, she fell backwards. Her blanket sprawled on the floor exposing her night dress. A long A-line cotton dress that swept the floor. It was barely thick to protect her body from the cold.

She sat on the floor glaring at the figure before her. Again, she couldn't see his face as his hood casted a shadow over his features.

It was Tamire...

He stood folding his arms, leaning against the stone cold wall in a corner. He could be mistaken for a shadow because of his dark cloak. As he watched Tyra, a chuckle escaped from his throat.

Did he think it was funny?

Tyra stood up neglecting Tamire's stretched hand to help her off the floor.

She dusted her dress angrily, ignoring the pain she felt from hitting her skin. She glared at him, the urge to pull off his hood burned within her as she took a step closer.

She then remembered that he was to train her. The thought alone made her furious, she wanted to rip him apart.
