"His eyes have changed!" someone exclaimed.
Uchiha Kai clasped his hands together, and Sage Mode instantly activated.
His enhanced dōjutsu and incredibly sharp sensory perception allowed him to see through the two massive fish fillets as if they were transparent.
The muscle fibers and the hidden bones, like the veins of a leaf, were clearly visible. To improve the texture and taste, the bones had to be removed.
Kai drew a thin wire from his ninja tool, his gaze hardening with intense focus. Then, in a flash of lightning, he vanished.
Kakashi, Fugaku, and the others could only see the wire rapidly wrapping around the fish fillets. Wherever the wire passed, the bones were instantly and precisely removed.
When the flurry of fish bones settled, Kai reappeared, catching the wire and pulling sharply.
The chakra wire, crisscrossing the fish, acted like countless blades, slicing the fish into perfectly even pieces of uniform thickness.
"Get a large basin!" Kai called out from mid-air.
Someone immediately produced a basin eight or nine meters in diameter.
This was no ordinary basin; it was a custom-made cauldron that Isobu and Son Gokū had secretly prepared as more people joined the feast. Other oversized cooking utensils had also been prepared to accommodate the large quantities of food.
The snow-white fish fillets were placed in the basin, and the massive head was cut into smaller pieces and placed in a separate basin.
Kai glanced at the already heated cauldron, then poured in oil, followed by peppercorns, ginger slices, and various other spices.
A sizzling sound erupted as he expertly stirred the ingredients with a large, custom-made spatula. The aroma of the spices, along with the rising steam, filled the air, creating an enticing, spicy fragrance.
Simultaneously, Kai reached out and grabbed a sealing scroll, releasing several large jars with a puff of smoke.
The lids were opened, releasing a distinctive sour aroma—specially prepared pickled vegetables.
The pickled vegetables were quickly chopped and added to the cauldron. After stir-frying to remove excess water, he added water, along with the fish meat and bones.
"Son Gokū, add some heat!" Kai said without looking back.
"Boss, I'm on it!" Son Gokū, unable to resist the alluring aroma, hurried to the cauldron, using Fire Release to increase the heat. He carefully avoided using Lava Release, as the iron cauldron might not withstand it.
"Boss, I just went and 'borrowed' all the eggs from the village. Is this enough?" Kakuzu suddenly appeared, carrying a large basket filled with eggs on his back.
The once-feared, top-ranked bounty hunter had become a lowly egg thief. The villagers dared not criticize him, swallowing their anger and hoping to see what Kai, the Blood-Colored Asura of Konoha, would do next.
"Isobu, separate the egg whites and yolks, then mix them with the fish…"
Following Kai's instructions, the three tailed beasts and Kakashi began working diligently. Processing such a massive fish required considerable effort and skill.
Even before the dish was ready, the sight of the tailed beasts working hard, under Kai's direction, caused many to gulp. No one would believe that tailed beasts would work so hard for food.
"Boss, the egg whites and fish are mixed," Isobu reported, its mouth watering, its eyes fixed on the cauldron, its stomach rumbling loudly.
Kai patted its head. "Almost done. Sprinkle the fish over the fish bone broth."
"Yes, Boss!" Isobu responded eagerly.
After evenly distributing the fish, Kai poured a large amount of oil into another heated cauldron. Once hot, he added chili peppers and chili flakes. After briefly sautéing them, he poured the mixture over the fish.
The sizzling sound of the oil, along with the intensely enticing spicy aroma and the sweet scent of the fish, filled the air. Everyone—tailed beasts and humans alike—inhaled deeply, their eyes wide with anticipation.
They couldn't help but swallow their saliva at the sight of the egg-white-coated fish fillets curling in the hot oil.
"Boss, can we eat yet?" Isobu's eyes shone brightly. If not for Kai's presence, it would have already pounced.
Matatabi and Son Gokū were equally eager, their intense gazes like those of an enemy about to attack—a stark contrast to their earlier subservience.
Chōmei, pretending to be aloof in the distance, couldn't help but steal a few glances at the simmering fish. It had never encountered such a dish—spicy yet sweet.
The three tailed beasts' behavior had created an intense anticipation among everyone present.
"In a minute or two," Kai said, brushing off dust from his clothes as he surveyed the nearly ten-meter-wide cauldron. This hadn't been easy.
He then looked at Shibumoto and his eight apprentices, who had stopped working in stunned silence. "Want to try some authentic Chinese cuisine?"
This question was like Archimedes' lever, moving hearts. The eight apprentices exchanged glances before looking at their master. "Master… should we continue?"
Continue? Shibumoto was stunned, then chuckled wryly. "Looking at their expressions… do we even stand a chance?"
