Simon's POV~
My wounds had healed the moment the Alphas left with Zane, who had fainted right into Alfie's arms. The cuts and bruises vanished without a trace, but the sting of everything that had just happened still lingered in my chest.
To be honest... I wasn't expecting any of this. I never imagined that Alfie would confront me, of all things, about what exists between Zane and me. His words had caught me completely off guard.
I mean, I had only just left the mansion for a short while. But the moment I stepped back inside, everything was in chaos.
Yeah, I know. I gave Alfie that look before I walked out....the kind of look that burns, the kind that says "if you hurt him, I will end you." It wasn't just anger. That glare was my way of saying I hated seeing Zane in pain. That I loathed how helpless I was in protecting him. If Zane were with me instead of those brutish Alphas, I would've never let things get this bad. I would've kept him safe....treasured him.
