Toki no Kage locked precisely onto the Tailed Beast Bombs suspended in the air, leaving everyone else untouched.
The orbs, just moments away from detonating, halted mid-air for a split second—just long enough to buy everyone a precious moment.
Tobirama Senju seized the opportunity, swiftly forming hand signs. One after another, he used Flying Thunder God to teleport each of the Tailed Beast Bombs far away.
Boom!
A series of deafening explosions erupted over the distant sea. Flames shot into the sky as thick plumes of smoke billowed upward.
Waves surged across the surface and crashed down on the battered ground where everyone was still struggling to stand. But even that was far better than being caught in the blast.
...
Just as the group collectively breathed a sigh of relief, Sasuke suddenly appeared behind Hyuga Gakuya and Naruto, Truth-Seeking Orbs morphing into a pair of black arms that lunged at them.
Instinctively, Gakuya prepared to activate his Toki no Kage to immobilize Sasuke—but in the next instant, he sensed a familiar presence in the distance and dropped the idea.
Instead, he picked up speed and slipped past Sasuke in a blur.
Sasuke's Truth-Seeking arm caught Naruto and slammed him into the ground with brutal force.
Naruto crashed down hard, knocked directly into his Nine-Tails Linked Mode by the impact.
Looking down from above, Sasuke said coldly,
"Don't you get it yet? I am the second Sage of Six Paths—the one who will create a new world. Think about all the pain you've endured. Is this world really worth protecting?"
Gakuya extended a hand and helped Naruto up.
With Gakuya's support, Naruto staggered to his feet, wiping the blood from the corner of his mouth.
"I already told you—I'll protect this world. That's my ninja way. If a new world needs to be built, I'll help create it—but not like this!"
"Hmph. Weak excuses," Sasuke replied with disdain. "I'll build a new world. One ruled by me."
...
A voice rang out.
"Gakuya-sama, I hope I'm not too late."
Kabuto Yakushi leapt down from the distance, landing beside Gakuya.
"Perfect timing. You brought him, right?" Gakuya said, brushing some dust off his shoulders.
"Of course. Just as you ordered."
Sasuke frowned. "Kabuto. We're this close to victory, and now you're going to betray me?"
Kabuto chuckled, his eyes gleaming with cunning.
"Heh heh... Sasuke-sama, 'betrayal' is a strong word. We were only partners of convenience. Gakuya-sama simply offered me a deal I couldn't refuse. Naturally, I chose the more profitable path."
A flicker of irritation passed through Sasuke's eyes.
"Fine. I'll just eliminate you along with the others."
He prepared to launch another attack.
But Kabuto only smiled eerily. With a sharp clap of his hands, a coffin rose from the ground in front of him.
Sasuke barely gave it a glance.
"And who's that supposed to be? Do you really think anyone you summon can change the tide of battle? Even the First Hokage was no match for me. What, are you going to summon the Sage of Six Paths?"
Kabuto's smile widened. "No, not him. But you're going to be very surprised when you see who it is."
The lid fell open, and a figure stepped slowly out of the coffin.
Sasuke's eyes went wide. The man before him was none other than his older brother—Itachi Uchiha.
"Itachi..." Sasuke whispered the name, and a storm of rage exploded in his heart the next second.
"Kabuto! You dare use Edo Tensei on Itachi Uchiha?! You've crossed the line!"
No matter how far Sasuke had fallen, no matter how many people he had turned against, he never wanted his brother—who had suffered so much for him—to become someone else's pawn again.
Fueled by fury, Sasuke charged forward, ready to kill Kabuto on the spot.
But Itachi, fully conscious, stepped between them.
"Sasuke. I agreed to be brought back. And I already know everything."
"Sasuke, stop." Itachi's voice was calm and gentle, just like always. "What you're doing now will only bring more pain to this world. It won't change anything."
...
But a gap in understanding remained. Recently revived, Itachi only had Kabuto's version of events—and Kabuto, as Gakuya's subordinate, had twisted the truth to serve Gakuya's narrative.
Itachi had no idea how Gakuya had manipulated the events surrounding the Uchiha Clan Massacre... and he would never get the chance to learn. There was no time left for the two brothers to sit down and talk.
Sasuke looked at his brother, his voice low and trembling.
"No... No... Nii-san, just wait a little longer. I'm almost there. I've already become the Ten-Tails' jinchūriki. You, Father, and Mother are waiting in the Pure Land. I'll bring you back. I promise..."
Itachi's eyes filled with quiet sorrow.
"Sasuke. True resurrection isn't salvation. Let go of your hatred. Come back to the right path. That's the only way forward."
But Sasuke wouldn't listen. His eyes were wild with obsession.
"No! You don't understand! They all deserve to die. Only when you're back—when we're all together again—can our family be whole!"
Itachi watched him, heart aching.
"Sasuke. Your hatred has blinded you. What you call success is nothing more than a hollow illusion. Our family's reunion shouldn't be built on the suffering of others."
Sasuke landed on the ground, facing Itachi directly. He roared,
"Why can't you understand me?! Everything I've done—it's all for us!"
Itachi shook his head, sadness in his voice.
"True reunion comes from peace and reconciliation, not from blood and destruction."
Sasuke's eyes widened, and tears welled up.
"No, Nii-san! You're wrong! Only with absolute power can I fix everything!"
Itachi reached out, trying to touch Sasuke's face.
"Sasuke... please. Look at what you've done. This isn't the path we dreamed of."
Sasuke couldn't understand why his brother—his last connection to sanity—was standing in his way. He could go against the entire world... but not against Itachi.
He swatted Itachi's hand away. "I'm not giving up, Nii-san."
Hearing those words, Itachi knew there was no more persuading his brother. He couldn't bring himself to fight Sasuke—but neither could he save him.
He closed his eyes in anguish. "Sasuke... I failed you. I'm sorry."
Sasuke's expression faltered. "It's okay, Nii-san... Just wait a little longer. We'll be together again soon."
Then, Sasuke placed his hand on Itachi's Edo Tensei body. With a burst of energy from his Truth-Seeking Orbs, he instantly released the reanimation jutsu.
A beam of light descended from the heavens, surrounding Itachi's soul as it ascended peacefully back to the Pure Land.
