David's POV
This revelation shocked me since I had yet to find another mutant with special abilities since Jarvis which goes to highlight how rare they were not to mention it being a psychic.
But either ways, it was to my benefit that I could gain a special ability aside from my lightning powers so I had no complaints but most importantly, I could finally free myself from the danger of breaking down because of the huge load Jessy was pouring on me!
I couldn't stop myself from wondering what her expression would look like after discovering my cheat-like ability.
'Now it's set since I don't have to worry about it anymore.'
The next events went on smoothly since I knew relatively everything she was trying to tell me perhaps even more then her!
Jessica herself was amazed and asked "You said you had no prior knowledge about this but now you're going about it like a pro! Tell me David, were you playing with me?"
Looking at her squinting her eyes, instead of feeling scared, I suddenly felt like laughing out loud because of her expression, instead of looking ferocious she looked so cute it seemed unbelievable.
But that was only in a normal situation but when I didn't know what her reaction would be I couldn't just act anyhow so I just denied instantly.
"No actually I haven't really done much on it but everything just came to me as you said it would." Even I was surprised I could spout so many bullshit at once today but to my surprise she actually took it for the real deal.
"Hmm, it does happen like that sometimes, you suddenly feel familiar with things you haven't even done before in your life but yours is just a bit exaggerated" she said while nodding her head.
Then turning back her head she continued her explanations and I just stood beside her without saying a word.
At this moment Eric who had gone out before came in and said "Jessy leave him alone, he has a mission to attend to"
"He's already going on a mission? That fast?" Jessy looked shocked.
"Well he meets all the requirements and besides David here was able to take on a mutated lion with lightning powers and win so I believe he's ready."
"Huh, is he really that strong?" Jessy looked at me with question marks visible all over her face.
Now when I got a closer look at the room, it seemed the only lively person around was Jessy and the others were probably uninterested in interacting with others.
"David, you will be going on this mission together with James, come over here" Eric said while moving towards the table in the corner.
James looked stunned at the sudden change of events but hurriedly turned to look at Eric with astonishment visible on his face.
"No way! James is so clumsy he can't even handle himself and you expect him to go with David? I bet they are going to cause some havoc out there instead of reducing it!" Jessy hurriedly shouted out.
She actually surprised me by acting so intensely so I thought its either James is just so bad at handling things or Jessy is or Jessy is exaggerating things but another part of me that took on Jessy's form told me she just didn't want her new partner to be taken away from her so soon.
When I actually thought of this, I couldn't help but feel a little amused looking at how she was panicking.
"Don't worry, this is only an investigation in the wildlife reserved area located north of the city."
"Weird occurrences have been spotted around that area recently and you only need to check out for any signs, if you find discover anything weird then you just return to report your findings" Eric said calmly.
Then Eric looked at me and said "You'll be working together with James here to scout out the area, his ability is fast reflexes and speed while yours is lightning so both are speed related if anything occurs just return back to report"
"And don't be so panicked Jessy, he will be back soon it's just a scouting mission"
It looks like Eric has everything already planned out but I was a bit surprised to learn James was a speedster, there really are a lot of different abilities out there and even though their appearance seems random I wondered if there was any sort of pattern to it.
I was still lost in my thoughts when James came up to me and said "Come on bro, we have a mission to finish, I still have a match"
I was a little curious about his ability and wondered what it would feel like but I decided not to act on it now so I just nodded and followed after him.
