Jack woke up in complete darkness. There was a hood over his head, shackles on his feet and his arms were strapped down to the arms of a chair. At the moment that was the only thing he could comprehend. His mind was fuzzy and his eyelids heavy. All he wanted was to go back to sleep.
Letting his eyes close slightly he came to the realization that he was in a chair and not his bed. Kristy was no longer with him. He tried to let worry and anxiety fill into his chest, but he just felt numb.
"Krrr…." Jack tried to say Kristy's name, but his throat felt dry and his words too heavy.
"Krrriiii…." Jack managed before he broke off into a giggle. He felt like something was wrong, but couldn't quite understand what. He knew he shouldn't be tied up and the Kristy should be here and that her name isn't funny, but endearing to him. For whatever reason he couldn't understand the gravity of what it all could mean.
"Looks like you're finally awake." It was gruff voice coming from somewhere off to his left.
Jack attempted to look in the direction, forgetting about the hood. He chuckled to himself. A wave of dizziness swept over him threatening to pull him back into deep sleep.
"No no. You can't go back to sleep yet. We have some things to discuss." The gruff voice seemed to be closer than before. Jack could barely tell where it might be at.
Kristy floated back into his mind. "Wheeeerrrreee'ssss mmm mmmy wife?" Jack managed to slur out. Though he wasn't sure if he really cared as much as he just wanted to know.
"That doesn't matter right now. What matters is that your Father has abandoned you. He has led you to this point of being here with me and now He's gone. In fact He's even taken Kristy from you. You are alone and now without a purpose." With that Jack heard footsteps retreating and a door open then shut.
Jack was in the room alone again. He knew that deep down he cared that Kristy was gone. The bit about his father He didn't quite get because he was dead. He had been shot in the head. The first little bits of sadness started to creep into his bones. Jack began to cry. He didn't know for how long because he succumbed to sleep again.
His dreams were filled with nightmares. Dreams that hadn't haunted him since the orphanage.
