After work, Joonseo drove me back to the mansion. Jiho was in charge of wrapping up the kidnappers' case, and I trusted him to handle it perfectly.
As soon as we got home, I threw myself onto the sofa in the living room, letting out a long sigh. For the first time in so long, I felt like I could breathe.
Our enemies were gone.
No more hiding. No more fear. No more threats against me or Joonseo.
We could finally be happy.
But just as I closed my eyes, a heavy thought crept in.
What about my father and my stepmother?
The door clicked, and I looked up to see Joonseo coming downstairs. He'd changed into a casual black shirt and grey sweatpants. His hair was still damp, and the fresh scent of his cologne reached me before he did.
He sat beside me and leaned slightly toward me, eyes searching my face.
"You look worried," he said gently.
I quickly pulled myself together and smiled. "No, I'm totally happy."
