Chapter 1 - 1: He is Back

The distant silhouette of audience faintly echoed in the background as eldest son of Umaki family was paused in the moment after receiving the very news that he had eventually stopped hoping to ever receive in this lifetime.

He can distinctly make-out bits and pieces resembling to that of worried voice belonging to his secretary, as he thoughtlessly stared at wrinkling mouth on the face of said man.

He moved his head and traced outlines of every single person present in the room, all while his brain slowly processed the news he had received some moments ago. Every single share-holder had joined for today's meeting, a rare occurrence that is, and he, Shiwid Yearnor Umaki was more or less due to make his official debut as next heir of Umaki International on this very day.

He honestly cannot begin to elaborate upon sheer importance he had put into preparing for this very day. Every sleepless night, every scarring migraine, every burn of dry eyes was tirelessly devoted by him from last six months to prepare for this very moment. It was the D-Day for him in every sense of word.

But right now, after hearing what he just heard; it all appeared too small. Too insignificant. Too easy to just get-up and abandon.

And so he did just that.

"I am extremely ashamed for doing this to all of you today but I am urgently needed to be at someplace else and it honestly cannot wait." he said as he stood up and gathered his phone and keys. A surge of murmurs immediately reached irritable octaves as protests started to fill around the room, demanding reason for such incomprehensible offence.

'Sorry but I just don't have enough shit to give at moment.'

His father's old secretary gaped at him like fish out of water, looking like he never saw anyone making move so daring in his long, dreadful years of employment.

"Wha-"

"No can do, Mr. Lewdan. Emergency calls!" he cut him before the barrage of questions can be hurled upon him from all the sides and hurriedly exited through luxurious double-doors.

Leaving his career behind, he almost ran through entire length of floor before reaching elevator and pressing it for basement where his Porsche Panamera awaited his departure. As the elevator rode down whooping length of 83 fucking floors, the conversation from before constantly played in his mind like loop.

He usually wouldn't had answered calls in any circumstance given importance of the day but there was some contacts, some specific numbers, for which he had set special ringtone. He knew when those numbers will contact him, the event that hasn't occurred till this very day from last 3 years, the ray of hope will be finally cascading beyond clouds that had settled permanently upon horizon.

In middle of his life-altering event, the tune unique to said contact blared as each and every person in-room stared at him with anticipation. But he knew what that tune meant and suddenly his hands had mind of their own as they pulled out device and pressed on green icon to receive the call without moment of hesitation and conversation that followed arose the long-dormant alpha in him with vigour of thousand burning suns.

"Hello? Um..am I talking to Mr. Shiwid?"

"Yes, that's him."

"Oh thank god that you picked up so quickly. The matter at hand is quite urgent. A ship of refugees from Skiyan Nation docked on Western port just few hours back and we received several children of similar description to those who went missing in last 5 years. I called you because there's a...male omega amongst them." there was brief pause and next voice that came several octaves lower than before.

"I secretly pulled him out before military got to him and though he doesn't carry any identification around...he was insistent on being youngest son of Umaki family."

"I took him to my room and cross-checked with photographs and description you gave to me during last updates and he honestly ticks out every box. I am still hiding him here so if you can come as soon as possible and check it yourself than we can decide what to do with him."

"Also...he said his name was Inari on first meeting."

And that had been it. Making a decision—wasn't there much to decide about to begin with—he booked out of his meticulously planned future and ran headfirst into realm full of probabilities; the conclusions for which remained yet to be processed properly.

All he knew in that moment was that, after long years of waiting, finally a sliver of light has appeared; a golden thread—leading his brother back to him. His gentle, bright-eyed younger sibling who went missing at mere age of 13. A rare male omega who was apple of entire family's eyes was snatched right from his very nest; never to be found again.

Or that's what it looked like just few hours back.

He was slightly regretful about opting for Sedan over one of his sports car today for playing the part in most formal event of his life, but also thanked heaven for making him rich because the horrific amount of traffic fines he was racking by speeding through good length of 50 kilometres in constraints of some half-an-hour, might send his good friend Riaz into generational debt.

Thoughts after thoughts assaulted his mind as outline of port started to appear in-distance. This might actually be that one chance of having his brother back in his arms. His own flesh and blood that he failed to protect in his own goddamn den. The incident that eventually spiralled his alpha instincts into state of comatose as protector Wolf lost his purpose with his omega pup being gone.

And now said wolf is up with vengeance. He can almost feel his canines rising with sheer restlessness of dominant alpha scratching his insides.

And as his car passed the port entrance, he felt the pull of his latent sibling bond so suddenly that he almost hit the break; risking flipping over entire vehicle.

His pup was here.

The metaphorical wolf more or less howled inside his mind at that. Grasping at the instinctual pull, he didn't had to worry about losing directions from here on. His brother had him. He'll be lead right to his place of hiding through their threads.

Trusting the process, he parked his car and hurriedly followed the path his instincts were leading them too. Covering distance of some 500m he paused in front of four-storied apartment building, clearly built with tax money to house the navy officials waiting for their sailing orders. He resumed his search and covered length of three stories in record time, crossed to the end of hallway and turned, coming face-to-face with door, behind which he knows he'll find his brother.

'Finally.' He thought as raised his hand to knock but dark lump of human form was already pushing open said door and crashing onto him with desperation of person who hadn't received ounce of comfort in their lifetime.

'Oh'.

A loud wail of 'brother' reached his ears and human lump—his baby brother, Inari Umaki—tightened his arms around his torso with no intention of ever letting go.

'Oh'.

The military man, one of many people he had bribed religiously from last 5 years, hoping for information about his brother's single strand of hair, hurriedly followed behind only to pause at sight of such heartrending reunion.

'Oh.'

As Inari's body rocked in his embrace with uncontrollable sobs escaping his mouth, eldest son of Umaki family finally released a long due breath of relief and loses himself into comfort of having his pup back into arms and his Wolf back in its peak form.

He was back. His long-lost baby brother was finally back.

And as far as Shiwid Yearnor Umaki was concerned, he'll need to be pried off from his cold, dead arms from now on.
