Chapter 112 - Chapter 112: Konan Versus Obito !

The sight of Nagato actually resurrecting all the fallen Konoha villagers sent a ripple of consternation through Obito and Zetsu. Each secretly wrestled with the implications for their carefully laid plans, Nagato's unexpected act creating a significant deviation.

In their original, meticulously crafted scheme, Nagato was merely a tool, a means to the ultimate end: the resurrection of Uchiha Madara.

His sudden succumbing to Naruto's "Talk no Jutsu" and his selfless sacrifice to revive Konoha's dead was an unforeseen complication.

If this was the new reality, then the crucial question hung heavy in the air: who would ultimately be responsible for Madara's revival?

Obito, a flicker of resentment in his hidden eyes, muttered under his breath, "Resurrect a bunch of Leaf brats… couldn't I just initiate the Infinite Tsukuyomi myself and be done with it?"

A fierce, possessive anger simmered within Zetsu's consciousness. 'No matter who it is' , he vowed silently, 'I will ensure they meet an… unfortunate accident. Nothing, and no one, is more important than the revival of Mother!'

As for the other Akatsuki members, a palpable sense of unease settled upon them.

The future glimpses had shown them falling at the hands of Konoha shinobi. The revelation that their leader had seemingly betrayed their cause, swayed by the very village that would bring about their demise, was a bitter pill to swallow.

Had their sacrifices, their tireless efforts in capturing the Tailed Beasts, been ultimately meaningless? Had they toiled only to reach a dead end?

Kakuzu, ever pragmatic, addressed Nagato on the screen. "Leader, do you truly intend to place your faith in this Uzumaki Naruto at all costs, just as we've witnessed?"

Hidan, his religious fervor clashing with his resentment, grumbled, "Those Konoha dogs slaughtered members of our Akatsuki! Though I loathe to admit that I'll be killed by some shadow-wielding brat."

Deidara's artistic pride remained wounded. "And I refuse to acknowledge being bested by that Uchiha."

Sasori, his voice devoid of emotion, stated, "While the details of my demise remain unclear, I can surmise that Konoha was involved."

Nagato, the Deva Path, observed his subordinates' simmering dissatisfaction with his final act, a flicker of doubt crossing his stoic features.

Naruto's words had struck a deep chord, resonating with the idealistic youth he once was. A powerful urge to return to that original path, to uphold Jiraiya's legacy, tugged at his resolve.

But he was also the leader of this organization, bound by a sense of responsibility, however complex, towards the individuals who had followed him.

This disparate group had joined Akatsuki for a myriad of reasons: the thrill of unrestrained violence, the pursuit of financial gain, the quest for artistic transcendence, the ambition of puppet mastery and immortality.

Though their motivations differed wildly from his own grand vision, they had nonetheless contributed to his pursuit of the Tailed Beasts, his ambition to reshape the world.

He couldn't simply abandon them, not without some consideration.

Finally, Nagato addressed his Akatsuki comrades. "I will continue to lead you all," he declared, his voice firm yet tinged with a newfound caution, "but there will be one condition: for the time being, we will avoid direct conflict with the forces of Konoha Village."

"As for the capture of the Nine-Tails… I will handle that personally."

Hidan scoffed, "Leader, aren't you afraid of dying over there?"

Before he could elaborate, several other members shot him irritated glares, silently rebuking his ill-omened words.

"It will be fine," Nagato replied calmly, though a thoughtful expression lingered in his eyes. "One does not court death with adequate preparation."

As the scene with Nagato concluded, Obito and Zetsu felt a surge of relief. As long as Nagato wasn't utterly foolish, they could continue to manipulate events from the shadows.

However, in the very next instant, a look of stunned disbelief washed over Obito's masked face.

The figures now appearing on the screen were… him and Konan.

No… A cold dread gripped him. He wouldn't die this early, would he?
