Reincarnated

Location: Bathroom, Apartment Complex

3rd Person POV

Y/N sighed, staring at their reflection in the mirror. Dark circles. Lifeless eyes, and missing pinky finger. A face that screamed exhaustion.

"31 years old. Single. Overworked. My life is a joke. And not only that, I also lashed out on work today... I don't think I will live long enough to see the next day..."

After two grueling weeks of work, they finally took a bath.

As they stepped out—

They slipped.

Their head smacked against the tub. Blood pooled around them. They move up from the pool of blood, standing firmly. Before darkness swallowed everything, as he felt something hit his head.

Before long he could felt his entire body burning, like some acid was poured all over him.

Yet, there was no fear. Just... acceptance.

"Death, huh? Guess I finally get to see what's on the other side."

Born into a religious family, Y/N had always believed in the afterlife. Maybe now, they'd see if it truly existed.

Or maybe... just another life of servitude.

Y/N blinked.

"Huh? Who's speaking? Is my Neuralink malfunctioning?"

Back in their world, the Law of 2035 had turned corporations into global superpowers, advancing technology at the cost of morality. Justice was a commodity for the rich.

Y/N had lived within that system, and he didn't seem to mind much. But someone else did—calling for justice.

That word again. Justice.

He didn't know what it meant. But it made something shift in him—an urge, deep, crawling under the skin he didn't even feel.

"I don't know why I care about that word... but I do."

His voice was calm. Too calm.

"I think someone told me once... that it mattered. That I did. But I can't remember their face. Or their name. Just... the way they made me feel when they said it."

He smiled faintly.

"Can you shut up...?"

Drifting in the void, an unbearable loneliness crept in.

They missed their parents.

They wanted to see them one last time.

Then—

Everything turned white.

Y/N's POV

Clouds surrounded me—it's quite soft.

Not a bad backdrop, all things considered. Maybe some corporate-sponsored dreamscape meant to make dying easier. I'd like to think I had enough money saved to afford that kind of luxury. Whatever it was, it looked… beautiful.

That thought didn't last long.

Because then I saw him.

A man with golden hair and a royal red cloak stood there, as if he'd stepped off the cover of a fantasy novel. His dark blue eyes weren't mysterious; they looked empty, like those of a dead man.

A red flag if I'd ever seen one. And yes, the cloak made the pun too easy.

I tried to laugh it off, but the unease only grew.

I could feel my entire body being sucked into that body.

Before I could even scream—

My entire existence shattered.

Literally.

Tiny pieces of me—thoughts, memories, whatever was left of my soul—were sucked into his body like some kind of USB upload.

"Hey—wait, wait, WHAT'S HAPPENING?!"

No one answered.

And then—

I opened my eyes.

Awareness. Power. Endless knowledge blasted through my skull like someone hit "download all" on the universe. Stars, planets, quantum strings, math symbols—stuff I was pretty sure I learned in high school, if I even went to high school or was it some form special education?

"So that's what space looks like... Pretty. Still terrifying."

I tried to take in my surroundings—

And then I saw it.

A massive cyan dragon. Staring directly at me.

This was—

"...A dragon," I muttered, blinking once. "That is... undeniably a dragon."

It stared directly at me. A massive, cyan-scaled entity with far too many teeth and far too much confidence.

And then—

It grinned.

Literally. A full display of fangs and smugness.

"Let's gooo! You finally got an ego! I'm so proud of myself!" the dragon bellowed. "From now on, your name is Feldway. I mean, Y/N's fine, but Feldway sounds cooler. Flair, you know?"

I stared, taking a slow breath.

"...Right."

"Looks like my experiment worked perfectly! As expected of me!"

That gave me pause.

"Pardon. Did you say... 'experiment'?"

His grin widened.

"Yes," he said simply, as though announcing the weather.

I looked at him. "I see. And you're...?"

He puffed up, clearly delighted. "Ah! Allow me to introduce myself properly. I am Veldanava! Or, if you want the full title—Creator Veldanava."

There was a silence as I processed that.

"Creator," I repeated. "As in... the creator of what, exactly?"

He gestured with both hands. "Reality."

Of course. It's sounds like one of those sloppy trends popular among people who wish to live in fantasy and escape reality… Well, to be fair, those were created precisely to keep such people under control… Anyway, off-topic.

"Let me guess," I said dryly. "Functionally omnipotent, and reality-bending powers?"

He nodded, beaming. "Exactly! You get it! I built this world—and many others. Played around with fate, time, and existence like a model train set. At least, that was the hottest trend the last time I looked over at Earth."

"…Naturally."

What did he mean by the last time…? Anyway…

"Do you have a prefer title or a name I should call you by… Mr. Dragon?"

"And if titles are too formal, you can also call me R.O.B.—Random Overpowered Being!"

I blinked once. "Yes. That acronym... certainly adds credibility."

Veldanava laughed like he'd just cracked the greatest joke in existence. I kept my tone level.

"I assume I've been forcibly inserted into a new host body—yours, perhaps? Or something you created?"

"Correct again! Feldway, my little prototype! Isn't it exciting?"

Not the word I would have chosen.

I closed my eyes briefly. Attempted a diagnostic. No body. No heartbeat. No reliable source of sensory data. But my cognition felt... intact. Mostly.

I muttered the only internal command I remembered:

"God, Creator, system administrator—anyone—please respond..."

A warmth passed through me.

Then vanished.

Veldanava grinned wider. "I am here. And you're on your own."

I opened my eyes.

"...Of course."

This wasn't a simulation. Not a dream. Nothing artificial...

This was real.

"OH YES!" Veldanava shouted, shaking the skies. "I AM SO EXCITED!!"

I stood still.

New body. Missing memories. Surrounded by clouds. Speaking to a self-proclaimed god who used acronyms unironically.

Only one conclusion came to mind:

I was so screwed.
