It's been a while since Damien, and I woke up this late. No twins demanding breakfast, no tiny feet running across the hallway, no little voices calling for us before the sun even thinks of rising.
I miss them, of course. I always do.
But right now? I want to keep my husband to myself for just a little while longer.
He's always so attentive—always answering their needs before his own.
Damien pressed a kiss to my stomach, grinning as if he already knew what was running through my head.
"So," he murmured, warm breath against my skin, "do you think it's twins again?"
"God," I laughed softly, running my fingers through his hair, "I really hope not."
For our upcoming checkup, we'll finally get to see our baby. The last time, we were too careful, too discreet, trying not to draw attention. Now, it feels real. Tangible.
