Chapter 305 – The Fall of Mount Myōboku
"A wise choice."
Uchiha Yuta's voice echoed calmly across the square, his energy projection radiating divine authority. His lips curved into a faint smile as he spoke with effortless dominance:
"From this day forward, Ryūchi Cave and Shikkotsu Forest will be under my protection."
The White Snake Sage's heart surged with ecstasy. If not for the solemnity of the occasion, it would have shed its serpent form and transformed into a great white dragon, celebrating in the skies.
To be acknowledged by Uchiha Yuta was worth more than all the treasures of Ryūchi Cave. For ages, the sages of Ryūchi Cave and Shikkotsu Forest had guarded their secrets jealously. Now, they were offering Sage Mode to Konoha not just for favor — but for survival, for power, and for a place in the new order Yuta was building.
And he had accepted.
With Uchiha Yuta as their shield, even the wrath of the Ōtsutsuki clan could not shake them. The future was clear: when the Fifth Hokage unified the ninja world, the White Snake Sage and the Slug Sage would rise alongside him. Their names would be remembered forever — immortality not just of the body, but of legacy.
Yuta waved his hand dismissively, his tone cold.
"Step back."
To him, this was a trivial matter. The White Snake Sage and the Slug Sage had shown proper submission, and he had rewarded them with recognition. Nothing more needed to be said.
On the other side of the square, the Great Toad Sage remained prostrate, still kneeling, still silent, still awaiting command.
The contrast was impossible to ignore.
"Hahaha… the difference is staggering," a voice from the crowd laughed bitterly. "The Slug Sage and the White Snake Sage are granted protection. The Great Toad Sage? He kneels and kowtows like a beaten dog."
"So ironic. They are all lords of the three holy places, yet their fates are so different under Uchiha Yuta."
"This is true power. With just a word, the Fifth Hokage has bent all three holy places to his will."
From every corner of the ninja world, civilians and shinobi alike watched the broadcast in stunned silence. For them, the lesson was brutally clear: taking sides determined survival.
The Great Toad Sage had chosen the Six Paths Sage, and even allied with Uchiha Madara — only to be utterly crushed beneath Uchiha Yuta's might. Worse, Hagoromo, the one he had pinned all hopes on, had yet to appear. In truth, the Great Toad Sage had been nothing more than a disposable pawn.
The realization was like a knife twisting in his chest.
The Great Toad Sage, kneeling in the square, raised his gaze to the enormous screen that projected the images of Konoha. His bulbous eyes reflected the sight of the White Snake Sage and the Slug Sage standing proudly beside each other, their positions secure.
Jealousy. Envy. Hatred.
The emotions boiled within him, but he buried them deep. He had once been revered, once seen as a divine being of foresight and wisdom. Now, he was nothing but a joke — a kneeling shadow of his former self.
"Endure… I must endure."
He forced his eyes shut and steadied his breath. "The time will come. It's not yet decided who will have the last laugh."
But no matter how much he whispered those words to himself, the reality of humiliation remained. He was kneeling like a broken servant, and the world was watching.
Meanwhile, the White Snake Sage slithered back to stand beside the Slug Sage, both radiating quiet satisfaction. Their choice had been the right one. They no longer feared the future. With Uchiha Yuta leading them, they had no reason to.
"The Great Toad Sage is finished," the White Snake Sage whispered with a hiss. "And with him, Mount Myōboku falls into ruin."
At the edge of the square, Tsunade, watching with folded arms, exhaled heavily. Her golden eyes narrowed at the sight of the Great Toad Sage still kneeling pathetically.
"How disappointing," she muttered. "As the master of Mount Myōboku, one of the three holy places, this is what he's reduced himself to? Instead of standing with Konoha, he sides with the Sage of Six Paths, even plotting alongside Madara and the Alliance… And now look at him."
Her fists clenched, the veins in her arms bulging.
"If I get the chance, I'll smash that bloated toad's head with one punch."
Jiraiya, standing beside her, froze. His face was a storm of conflict — disbelief, sadness, even shame.
He had once revered Mount Myōboku. Sage Fukasaku, Shima, even the Great Toad Sage himself… they were his mentors, his guides. He had built his path of ninjutsu around their teachings.
But now, seeing the Great Toad Sage debased and cowardly, bowing to survive, Jiraiya's beliefs wavered. His respect crumbled. The Great Sage he had once worshiped seemed no different from any other opportunist, revealed at last for what he truly was.
And in that moment, even Jiraiya could not deny it — Uchiha Yuta's shadow loomed larger than the sages of legend.
