Chapter 8 - Jedi 008

After completing his heist of the Jedi Temple, Corvus left through the front entrance.

Along the way, he saw over a thousand clone troopers posted up, and clearly on edge.

However, they were of no concern to him, as he was within the safety of stealth.

From the steps leading up to the Temple gate, Corvus got a good look at the city. In that moment, he felt a wave of energy singing at him through the Force.

The sheer amount of life was overwhelming.

Licking his lips, Corvus gulped, and once again found himself internally repeating the mantra he had taken from the holocron.

Calming himself down, Corvus almost wanted to laugh at how absurd it was that a code of all things could help him achieve balance. On Earth, he felt like a dumbass whenever he repeated such slogans, but here where the eldritch was real, such words held power.

Almost in the back of his mind, he imagined Yoda lecturing 'Words hold no hold over you, unless grant them power, you do.'

Shaking his head, Corvus slightly chuckled and planned his next step. He decided that hacking into the Imperial Inspectorat HQ (department of intelligence) should be his priority.

While he could walk there, that would take a stupid amount of time, even with [Force Speed]. And it wasn't as if he could call a cab and have it pick him up at a pad jutting out of the Jedi Temple, that would be too suspicious.

It would seem that he had two options.

He could either go down to a lower level, and mimic Obi-Wan/Anakin and jump onto a passing flying car, or he could Mind Trick the clone commander to order a flight to the Inspectorate HQ.

If he intended to remain on Coruscant for a lengthy stay, then he would want to avoid drawing suspicion to his powers as much as possible. In that case, leaping onto a moving shuttlecraft would be the ideal option.

However, if he planned on leaving the planet before Palpatine arrived, then it didn't matter as much what he did. By taking a LAAT, it would be much more expedient, and he would bypass the security checkpoints with ease.

Considering that he was likely dealing with Legends Palpatine-the guy who may or may not be capable of throwing around black holes-Corvus decided it was best not to remain on Coruscant. Although the Taozin Amulets were good enough to block Maul's sensing, Corvus didn't want to chance it with Palpatine if the Dark Lord was actively searching for Jedi.

Maybe Corvus would be fine, since he had both the powers of a Shadow, and the amulet, however, he doubted his companions would be able to escape prolonged scrutiny.

Which was a shame too, because as the 'center' of the universe, the planet was rife with opportunities. But he could always come back. The only one who recognized his face was Vader, and maybe Obi-Wan or Yoda since they viewed the security tapes.

Otherwise, with his instructions to the clone technicians, his identity should be safe, and he would not appear on any wanted lists.

With that thought in mind, he decided to take the more expedient route.

Glancing at the beautiful city, Corvus turned back to the commander, and issued a new set of orders via Mind Trick.

'You have a suspicion that something wrong has taken place in the archive. Send a squad over to check it out. Whatever the report is, you know it is sensitive information, and you must personally take it to the intelligence HQ as soon as possible.'

"Gamma Squad, we've not seen any signs of the disturbance. I want you men to do a sweep of the Temple. Pay extra attention to the archives, I suspect foul play is afoot." The clone commanded.

"Yes sir, I'm on it." A squad leader saluted, then left in a hurry.

Corvus waited by the commander's side, and silently went over a few places that he could move his group of Jedi to where they would be safe.

The top option that came to mind was Nar Shadaa. The Hutt controlled world was teeming with gangsters, and was almost a blind spot in the Force for anyone who tried to find a Jedi by sensing their presence.

Considering Corvus's manufacturing capabilities via the Lab Station and Workbench, it could be an ideal place to sell illicit and illegal goods.

It was also great, because it was outside of Imperial space. Unless the Empire wanted another war front to open up, than they couldn't do something as bold as marching legions of stormtroopers onto the planet, or parking an ISD outside. The Hutts weren't the strongest, but they were no pushovers either.

However, his group would always be at risk of revealing their powers, as conflict was common. With the reward on their heads, the Hutts may be willing to sell them out for some goodwill with the Emperor, or to be used as bargaining chips.

Nar Shadaa was a place he would go to if he was solo, but as a group it wasn't very sound.

He could also move everyone to some Outer Rim planet, but the more he thought about it, the more he realized he didn't have any specific planets in mind.

Stroking his chin, Corvus thought that the best kind of place to go would be a planet that acted as a Force Nexus, like Dagobah.

Such a planet would completely mask the use of the Force, and act as a supreme training ground for the resurgent Jedi Order due to how concentrated the Force was.

Dagobah, of course, was off the menu, because that place was an uninhabitable dank swamp. One teeming with S-tier murder monsters, and darkside apparitions. Corvus never wanted to set foot on that shithole so long as he lived.

There were, however, two planets that fit his criteria that he was aware of. One was Ruusan, and the other was Tyrhon.

Ruusan, of course, was the famous planet where the Ruusan Accords were established. Laws that eliminated the Jedi as military commanders, initiated the current system of no emotional attachments between Jedi, and significantly hampered both the political power, and combat power of the Jedi.

Ruusan was the site of an incredible battle between the Jedi & Sith.

Bane murdered all of the Force sensitives on the planet with a powerful technique known as the Thought Bomb, thus establishing the rule of two.

This extreme murder created an echo in the Force, and the spirits of the slain have remained within a location that came to be known as the Valley of the Jedi.

By freeing their spirits, Corvus would gain access to an area chalk full of overpowering concentration of Force energy.

To his knowledge, it was largely uninhibited, and visited only by the occasional smuggler. The planet only established a colony when Kyle Katarn (an important figure in Legends) had his dad establish a colony there to flee the Empire.

It was also the location of a CIS secret listening outpost that was destroyed by Anakin and Ahsoka during the Clone Wars.

This last part was important, because it confirmed that there were working star charts to the planetary system.

Located within the Mid Rim, it would be a great place to move between both the Core, and the Outer Rims.

At the moment, it should be unoccupied, and basically free real estate.

The next option offered more security, as Tython had very active hyperlanes, and jumping to that planet could be extremely dangerous.

In the movies, it wasn't necessarily explained in great detail, but one did not simply set the GPS to say Endor, and then enter lightspeed. There were innumerable calculations done by a navicomputer on the ship which usually took a few minutes at best or half an hour+ at worst, and the hyperlanes in between systems moved.

It was as if the road to your favorite store-which was ordinarily 5 minutes away-suddenly required you to drive in a circle around the entire town before getting to the store, because the road moved!

George Lucas had really cooked up something when he had that thought, because it made getting to Tython difficult for Corvus too.

And why would he be so insistent about Tython other than safety, and the fact that it was a Force Nexus?

Well, because it was the home of the Jedi!

Originally, the predecessors to the Jedi, the Je'daii made a temple on another planet, but had a civil war. The Dark Jedi who lost this war went on to Korriban, and bred with the locals, creating what came to be known as the Sith. The victors however, went on to found the Jedi Order, and had settled on Tython.

For untold eons, the Jedi transformed an entire planet into a living temple. It was quite literally the ultimate holy land for the Order, and occupied a place in their hearts like the most famous religious locations on Earth.

As such, there were bound to be knowledgeable Force Ghosts, holocrons, and all sorts of teachings left behind.

The only trouble was, getting to the planet was incredibly difficult.

Corvus sighed to himself, as he thought such a prospect was impossible.

Looking back at the Jedi Temple before him, Corvus was reminded of the heist he had just performed.

'Maybe I've stolen a star chart?!' Corvus excitedly thought to himself, and immediately Paused to check his inventory.

Thousands of items greeted him, and he wanted to puke. However, everything was listed in an alphabetical order, and could be viewed by category, such as: weapons, armor, explosives, ammunition, etc.

Searching under misc, he found a dozen old scroll looking things. On the menu, they were labeled as 'Starchart to xxx System.'

Finally, he came across one labeled Starchart to Tython System.

If he could smile during Pause, he would.

'This is it!'

Excitedly clicking on it to examine the item, Corvus was quick to discover that the document was written in an older version of Basic that he had no understanding of.

Irked, Corvus wasn't entirely disappointed. At the worst, he could get a droid to translate. Hopefully Zork, the dragon-kin knockoff, and student of history would be well versed in ancient languages too.

Marvelling at the document, Corvus realized that the coordinates wouldn't be exact, and that due to shifting hyperspace lanes, any starship that followed this map wouldn't exit exactly on top of the planet.

However, as long as they jumped into the system, Corvus didn't mind if he had to use his sublight drives, or if it took a week of travel due to distance. The fact that he had a map to Tython was fantastic!

Now all he needed was to secure a space ship, one that wouldn't draw any attention.

Perhaps he would have to pay Bail Organa a visit sometime today. The politician was rathe savvy, and very pro Jedi. Corvus could even use this as the perfect time to establish a working reporte with the future Rebellion co-leader, and pass along a message to Yoda and Obi-Wan.

But that could wait for the afternoon. It was currently late morning, and he had a date with the ISB that the Isaards would be dying to avoid.
