Chapter 10 - Amma Shocked! Monu Rocked!!

General POV

Finally back home, Akash checked his phone to see the time.

Akash:"Not even a second has changed… Dripwoo was right. Man, that was a fun adventure.I saved Seongji and Sujin, got autographs and selfies with all the Kings—and James!I even kinda got a date, I guess. Now back to real-world priorities.I'll return to Lookism maybe when Gitae shows up in front of Jichang.I won't interfere with the plot… but I can definitely befriend Gitae."

Suddenly, his phone started ringing. It was his Amma (Mom). He picked up the call.

Akash:"Ah, Amma. Paray, yenda?" (Yes, Mom. Tell me what happened?)

Amma:"Ni ravile mudhal vilichilla. College le poyo? Allengil veetil irunnu timepass cheytho?"(You didn't call me in the morning. Did you go to college? Or did you skip and laze around in your room?)

Akash:"Poyi, Amme. Oru lecture mathram aayirunnu. Poyi vannu."(I went, Mom. Just had one lecture in the morning. I attended and came back.)

Amma:"Hmm… ninte swaram maariyallo. Chomma ondo? Marunnu kazhikkada. Vere country-il aanu, chommavariyumbo marunnu kazhikkanam."(Your voice sounds different. Do you have a cough? Take your medicine. You're in another country now—you can't just ignore your health like at home.)

SIDE NOTE:Akash has a personal belief that taking medicines weakens the immune system. He only takes them when things get really serious. Most of the time, he tackles fevers, stomachaches, headaches, and even coughs with sheer willpower.

P.S. This is also true in real life—Akash rarely gets fevers, and even minor issues tend to clear up within a day or two thanks to this stubborn mindset.

Akash:"Illa Amme, athalla. Njan weight kurachu, athukondu swaram maariyathaanu. Chomma onnum illa."(No Mom, not that. I've lost weight—maybe that's why my voice sounds different. No cough.)

Akash (changing the topic):"Woh sab chhodo. Mujhe Jyoti Ma'am ka number do. Loan ke baare mein baat karni hai."(Anyway, leave that. Give me Ms. Jyoti's number—I want to discuss the loan.)

Amma:"Sherikkum. WhatsApp-il ayikkam." (Okay, I'll send it on WhatsApp.)

Akash:"Pinne vilikkam, Amma. I'll send you my recent photo too—I've lost a lot of weight. Even my height's increased."

Amma:"Ellam pravisham ithu thanne parayunnu!" (You say this every time!)

Akash:"Hmph."

After the call, Akash sent a photo to his mom—shirtless, in pajamas—and then dialed Ms. Jyoti to discuss closing his loan.Soon after, he received an email with the required account details and the procedure to officially wrap things up.

Akash (grinning):"That's one less thing to worry about.I wonder how Amma will react... hehe." (Smiling like a Cheshire cat)

General POV

After the call ended, Akash stretched his arms and walked toward the small kitchen corner of his dorm. His stomach growled like a lion in a zoo protest, and he chuckled.

Akash:"Alright, time to fuel up this new god body. Chicken and rice it is!"

He took out some leftover chicken he had marinated the night before and began preparing lunch. As he tossed the chicken into the hot pan, the satisfying sizzle echoed through the quiet room.

Suddenly, his phone began vibrating.

Incoming video call: Amma (Mom)

Akash (nervous):"Ayyo, what now? She must've seen the photo I sent..."

He wiped his hands quickly, swiped up the call, and was greeted with the face of his mother, eyes wide and jaw practically hanging.

Amma (in Malayalam, gasping):"Daivame! Ith entha da monutta?! (Oh my God! What is this, Monu?!)

Akash:chuckles nervously"Monutta alla Amme… Monu"(It's not Monutta it's Monu)

Amma:"Nee alle! Ithentha? Ninte mugham, ninte shariram… ithokke oru cinema hero pole aanu! What happened to you?!"(Is that really you?! What happened? Your face, your body… you look like a movie star!)

Akash (grinning like a Cheshire cat):"Ammey, njan paranjille — weight kuranju. Kuranju mathram alla, I evolved. Like Pokémon."(Mom, I told you — I lost weight. But not just lost weight… I evolved. Like a Pokémon.)

His mom narrowed her eyes.

Amma:"Nee enthengilum chadiyo? Yathoru experiment alengil drugs eddithitte aano ith? Enne chodhikate doctor ne kaanikanam!"(Did you do something crazy? Is this some experiment or did you take drugs? Don't hide anything from me, we should see a doctor!)

Akash (laughing):"Amme calm aava. It's all natural. Hard work, stress, divine energy and good lighting."(Mom be calm.)

Amma squinted at the screen.

Amma:"Ninte abs kandittu njan shok aayi. Ith vare ninakku vayarille thaddi mathram undayirunnu. Ipam... ipam ithentha 10 padi staircase pole irikunnu!"(I was stunned seeing your abs. Until now, you only had a round belly. And now... now it looks like a 10-step staircase!)

Akash tried to hold back his laughter but failed miserably.

He moved the camera down a bit, showing his muscular arms and veiny biceps as he stirred the chicken.

Amma (now nearly having a meltdown):"Ni serious aayirunnu alle?! I thought you were joking. Ninte voice maariyath weight kondano enne chodhichu. Ippa njan manasilayi. Nee full hero aayi poyi."(You were serious, weren't you?! I thought you were just joking. I only asked if your voice changed because of weight loss. But now I get it. You've become a full-on hero.)

Akash winked at the camera.

Akash:"Ende heightum change ayi, I think I am taller than Sanish Chettan"(My height changed as well)

Amma (confused):"Height change ayi? Sanish ne kattilum veliyd ayi ni? Daa weigh change ayi mansalakam patum, face change ayi mansalakam pattum pashe heih yengne koodi? Ichiri height our 4-5 cm koodiyal prashnam illa, ne 6'2" Sanish de height ne kaatilum veliyd yengne ayi? Monu nee vellyom vendate kariyangul kayicho. Amme kye pedi aavua"(Did your height change too? You're taller than Sanish now? Okay, I can understand if your weight changed, even your face changed — fine. But how did your height increase? A little height gain like 4–5 cm is okay, but now you're taller than 6'2" Sanish?! Monu, did you take anything dangerous? Mom is getting scared now!)

Akash:"Angne onnum edithitilla amme, ariyerthilla chelapol weight change aye kondu bones ill pressure korenyittu ended valarne height ne boost kitti. Yende aayalum 10 varsham skipping and cycling cheydede alle, aadhe karnum valaran chance ondu. Pinne amme kyum ariyam lo njan puberty late arnu, chelepoll weight kornya karnum, growth hormone koodi kannum."(I didn't take anything like that, Mom. I'm not sure, but maybe since I lost weight, the pressure on my bones reduced and that boosted my height. Also, remember I did skipping and cycling for 10 years — that could be a reason too. And you already know my puberty was late. Now that I lost weight, maybe my growth hormones kicked in more.)

Amma:"Okay. Pakshe… njan parayatte… njan proud aanu. Nee ippol mathram alla, munnumpolum sundaran aayirunnu. Ippol athu pinne proof aayi poyi."(Okay… but let me just say this… I'm proud of you. You were always handsome, even before. But now, this just proves it even more.)

Akash smiled. A rare emotional moment washed over him.

Akash:"Thanks, Amme."

She nodded with a smile but immediately turned serious.

Amma:"Athu sherikkum 10 pack aano? Doctor ne kaanikanam alle?"(Are those really 10-pack abs? Shouldn't we get a doctor to confirm this?)

Akash hung up, laughing out loud.

Narration:

As he turned back to the kitchen, he realized something — life had changed. He wasn't just a broke Indian student anymore. He was a man who had crossed dimensions, saved lives, befriended kings, flexed on villains, and returned stronger in every sense.

But most importantly — his mom was proud.

And that, more than anything, made him feel like a real hero.
