The dagger was still warm.

Not from the fire of the hearth, but from what it had just taken—three lives, three destinies severed by quiet steel. Blood had been cleaned, of course. The study looked untouched, dignified. And yet, there was an undeniable weight in the air. Heavy. Stale. It lingered.

Shijinko sat alone, his back straight, a candle flickering beside him, casting long shadows across his desk. The pain had dulled now—faded to a dull throb that still pulsed behind his right eye. But the chaos of what he'd just consumed hadn't left. Not yet.

He leaned forward slightly, fingers curled under his chin.

The minotaur's memories had been... jagged. Brutal. Pure instinct. There were no words in the beast's recollections—just impressions of war, survival, rage, and the unrelenting rhythm of the arena floor beneath his hooves. The discipline of violence, bred not from wisdom, but repetition.

Shijinko clenched his jaw.

It was strange—absorbing something so different. Until now, his consumption had been mostly human. Mortals with ambitions, emotions, regrets. But the minotaur was primal. And now that primal fury coiled somewhere deep inside him, twitching, growling.

He stood.

Slowly, carefully, like a predator testing its legs after a long slumber. His fingertips twitched with anticipation, as if remembering blows they had never thrown.

He moved to the hidden door behind the shelves—a passage known only to him, connected to the underground chambers beneath the estate. There, the training dummies awaited. Reinforced. Weighted.

"I need to feel it, this power I've assimilated" he muttered.

No one responded. Not even the Voice.

Even it was quiet now.

As he stepped down into the dimly lit chamber, lit only by flickering torches, the air grew cooler. He rolled his shoulders. The pain behind his eye returned. The minotaur's battle rhythm—left hook, shoulder charge, ground stomp—began to throb in his bones like a forgotten song being remembered.

He breathed. From his extensive knowledge about this power hierarchy, Anima in essence was Spectral. It formed around emotional experience that requires a certain threshold to be surpassed.

Nobody is just Born with Anima. Most think because of this requirement to unlock this energy, the users are either broken, traumatized individuals. But that's not true.

Anima is unpredictable but very rewarding. Once one awakens their Anima, they are presented with a Domain to wield.

This Domain allows them to manipulate an element or Concept to an extent, the Domain also evolves with the User. As far as Shijinko knows. The highest amount of Domains one possessed was 5. What specifically those Domains possess is unknown.

Shijinko just absorbed 2 Domains, however the Minotaur didn't possess any Domain, so it only had to offer its muscle memory and supernatural physical abilities like strength and stamina.

Compared to himself before he absorbed the 3 individuals, he now felt like he could take on 50 armed ordinary human beings. By armed, meaning fully armoured with any weapon of choice.

His strength was now higher, he felt confident in his ability to even lift 500kg easily, maybe even 1 ton if he really tried hard.

But he had to put it to the test first, proof was way better than assumptions.

Slowly Measured He moved towards a thick stone slab that was 5 meters wide and 4 meters in height, the stone itself was 7 inches thick. He formed fists with his frail hands and each strike tested him—within 4 for punches in the exact same spot the Stone buckled at the force creating cracks.

"Not bad, but not enough either...although the strength boost was considerably good evidently...since I'm barely even trying"

Truly Shijinko punched the stone with little strength as he was contemplating if it would hurt his hand if he tried hard.

His punches were soft yet cracks were already forming. He considered the possibility that if he punched with all his might, he might aswell shatter the section he punched.

And that's exactly what he did, with a twist of his hips and proper alignment, he struck the same spot with full strength, effectively shattering a hole in the stone but also dislocating a bone in his arm.

Shijinko hissed in pain while removing his arm from the hole. This wasn't to his expectations. Non the less it was an easy fix, since he could summon a healer.

And that's exactly what he did after failed attempts to relocate his bone, the healer of course was amongst the servants assigned to this estate, specifically a maid.

"How are you feeling now my lord", the maid asked as a warm feeling coursed through my arm with visible repairing of tissues and flesh.

"I feel....reborn, thank you" I remarked as the healing affect really did make me feel brand new, it's like not only did it heal me, but it also rejuvenated me.

As expected of Lord Veylan, only the best servants for his prodigies. He stood up and expanded his shadow Domain after confirming no one else was present.

Form what he understood, with enough understanding and evolution, a domain can evolve into a Law, and laws are much more destructive than Domains.

Shijinko pondered on how exactly he's going to evolve his Domain into a law. Ignoring the notion for now he expended his Shadow Domain as he shifted his gaze towards 3 dummies stand 5 meters apart.

With enough Anima he conjured numerous shadowy sharp spears to emerge right below the first dummy, effectively piercing it on all sides. He noticed how it toke about 0.5 seconds for the spears to fully form and 1 second for them to fully thrust through the target each.

Shijinko noted this down as this could serve as a long range attack, especially if his opponent is trying to keep their distance away from him.

Moving to the next intact dummy he tried something different.

This was at best a theory but he wished to try non the less. Sensing the shadow of the dummy casted behind it because of the light in the base, he concentrated and the next moment he fell into his own shadow.

Than suddenly, he emerged out of the dummies shadow akin to Teleportation but through shadows. He successfully appeared behind the dummy and wondered how long it toke for him to emerge.

"Maybe its instantaneous as one moment I saw black then the next I'm behind this training doll" Shijinko concluded as his theory had worked out after all.

"Young master, your Guide has arrived"

Shijinko heard a voice as he worked on multiple theories on how to apply both his shadow Domain and light Domain, glazing behind uim he felt a familiar presence.

"My guide? Ha, that was quick, I guess I'll have to put a stop to training for now, its time i see exactly what the Academy is made of" Shijinko said as his left the Vast basement with his maid in tow.
