Chapter 37 - Chapter 037: Dance of Destruction

Bang

Gunshots cracked through the morning air.

Bullets sliced overhead, and the loudmouthed lunatic soaring through the sky was promptly shot out of it.

Thud!

Hidan crashed onto the deck in a heap, rolling a few awkward times before flopping facedown like a sack of laundry. He didn't move a muscle.

"…What the hell?"

"Was that a lunatic?"

"Did we… shoot the wrong guy?"

Can you believe it?

That was the guy who came in like a storm? That was it?

Was this guy here to start something… or just end himself?

A few soldiers stood there, blinking, utterly confused.

They looked from the unmoving body to each other, unsure whether they were under attack—or just part of some extremely elaborate prank.

Even the marines who'd run up from below deck at the sound of "Enemy attack!" paused mid-step, gazing at the scene with faces full of:

…That's it?

A body on the floor? This was the enemy? What is this, amateur hour?

And just as everyone began to relax

"Bastards… what the hell, that hurt like hell!"

The body twitched.

His arm moved.

"…He's—he's moving?!"

"WHAT?! He's still alive?!"

"Uso da wa… (No way…)"

Wide eyes and slack jaws all around. People had shot this guy—straight through! And now he was moving?

This was getting into horror movie territory.

Under everyone's stunned gaze, the man slowly pushed himself up from the deck.

He looked down at the gaping, bloody holes riddling his body…

Then tilted his head back with a twisted, deranged grin, eyes full of rage and madness.

"You sons of bitches… DARED to ambush Lord Hidan…?!"

"…Is… is this guy even human?!"

The marine who'd nailed him earlier stood frozen, staring at the guy now shouting in fury with actual bullet holes in his torso.

This guy had been perforated like Swiss cheese.

And now he was standing, yelling that it hurt?!

This was like a mouse biting a cow's butt and managing to impress the cow.

Truly—next-level insanity.

"He's a monster! Shoot him again—quick!"

Everyone on deck jolted at the command. Guns were raised in unison, muzzles locking onto the grinning maniac.

Even Hidan, for all his unkillable confidence, felt a tingle of unease crawl down his neck.

Not because he was afraid of dying…

It just really hurts!

Bang! Bang!

Gunfire erupted once more, bullets slicing through the air like angry hornets.

Seeing the storm coming, Hidan scrambled to grab his scythe, whirling it into a crimson blur.

The scarlet blade danced wildly, fast as lightning, clanging bullet after bullet out of the air with a rain of metallic sparks—ting-ting-tang!

But a few rounds still slipped through the gaps, punching into his body. He gritted his teeth, face contorted in pain.

"You bastards!"

The agony sent him over the edge—though, to be fair, he never had much of an edge to begin with.

Snarling like a lunatic on a rampage, Hidan charged, brandishing his scythe like a man possessed (because he kind of was).

And no matter what world you're in, one thing's universal: nothing's scarier than a manic psychopath with a bladed weapon.

He hit the deck like a tiger loosed on a flock of sheep.

Fight?

This wasn't a fight. Let's be honest, it was a slaughter.

Hidan, the unhinged butcher in the house of meat.

Every swing of his scythe dropped someone—chop-chop, splat-splat—a glorious, bloody dance of destruction.

You could almost call it art.

"You lunatic! How dare you launch a direct assault on a CP division of the World Government!"

"Stand down at once!"

Mid-berserk-frenzy, a cold voice cut through the chaos at his side.

Out of the corner of his eye, Hidan spotted the figure—a man in a white suit, white mask, materializing like a ghost.

And with him came the strike.

"A finger?" Hidan muttered mid-swing, seeing the guy calmly extend just one finger to poke him.

He sneered, not even bothering to dodge.

Nope. He stood there, glaring, daring the guy to poke him.

"Shlunk!"

The finger stabbed clean into his gut.

Hidan's eyes went wide. "The hell?! That's a FINGER?!"

What kind of freak show finger was that? Sharpened? Reinforced? Blessed by some finger god?

Too late for questions—his blood was already spilling.

Reddish-brown and sticky, it oozed down his robes.

He let out a low chuckle, half-bitter, half-impressed. "Was I always this weak?"

"Hmph. Idiot," the masked man spat.

"You took a direct hit from my Shigan—there's no way you're still alive…"

The masked man declared proudly, eyes narrowed as he watched Hidan's stunned expression.

But then—

"Oi, oi! That freaking hurt, you know!?"

"You smug bastard… don't get full of yourself…"

"You stabbed me! You think you can walk away without confessing to Lord Jashin?! DIE, scumbag!"

With a voice as dark as a storm cloud, Hidan swung his bloodstained scythe straight for the man's neck in a vicious arc.

"Soru!"

The man didn't hesitate—he vanished in a blur, using the Navy's Six Powers technique to escape the blade's reach just in time.

He reappeared a few meters away, cold sweat running down his spine.

If he'd been even a second slower, his head would've been rolling on the floor.

Still catching his breath, he stared at Hidan in disbelief.

"What is this guy…?"

"I'm sure I hit his heart…"

His face twisted in horror as he watched the maniac still standing, laughing, grinning, completely fine despite a massive, gaping wound where his heart should be.

That strike—it would've flattened even Whitebeard, the so-called strongest man in the world. At the very least, it would've knocked him out cold.

But this lunatic? He was just getting warmed up!

Totally. Absolutely. NOT NORMAL.

"Is it… a Devil Fruit?"

His mind raced—maybe a Zoan-type? They were known for insane recovery.

But even the most regenerative Zoans couldn't just walk around with a destroyed heart, right?

"Switch to Seastone rounds! Hit him with Haki-suppressing ammo!"

Whether this guy was a Zoan or something else entirely, it didn't matter—they had to try something. Otherwise, he was going to tear through the entire ship like it was a buffet line.

The other CP agents didn't need to be told twice. At once, they loaded the precious Seastone bullets—standard issue when facing Devil Fruit users.

Sure, Seastone was rare…

But the CP organization wasn't short on supplies. Every agent carried a few, just in case they ran into a monster like this.

And now?

Now was definitely one of those cases.

Bang! Bang! Bang!

The shots rang out again—this time loaded with their ace in the hole.

Thwack! Thunk! Splat!

A spray of crimson exploded from Hidan's body as the Seastone rounds tore into him.
