A wooden sword swinging across the air frantically at it opponent effortlessly. Lord Felix cristwell, the right hand man of one of the fearful count in evania empire. At the receiving end of the brutal attacks was a soldier, Alen by name, running out of breath, he seems like he was about to go down but still held his fighting stance cause he couldn't afford to loose this battle. The other soldiers stood afar in awe as they watch Felix displays his unhinged prowess.
Alen was down to his last strength, Felix saw that there wasn't any reason to drag the dual for to long so he ended it by swinging the wooden sword below his knees and scraped him with it. Alen Landed in the ground with his butt cheeks with a thud. Felix dropped the wooden sword and took out and handkerchief to wipe his hands and massaging his long fingers with his other hand, about to to leave the training grounds he stopped
"never underestimate an alchemist" he said and continues his journey out of the training grounds.
Alen on the other hand stood up releasing a sigh as he wiped the dirt of his ass
"so much for laying low.... I almost blew my cover" he picked up the two wooden swords "how did I end up here again??"
The cristwell estate which was govern by one of the empires strongest sword, count Leonard cristwell. Alen has been working in the estate for a month by joining the Blue den knight , they were cristwell soldiers particularly ran by the cristwell family , they were known by their countless flawless victories in war and battle, their names started to spread across the land when the new count took over as the next head of the family.
Why was Alen in the cristwell estate and why was he keeping a low profile?
Alen didn't come to the cristwell estate to just become a knight, he was a hired assassin and to make it worse Alen isn't a 'HE' but a 'SHE'. Yep a lady.
There isn't a rule that says that a woman can't be a knight, everyone just assumes that it's not supposed to be that way cause according to them 'women are weak'. Her real name is Alena, Alena is a 21 years old, 5'6 and a beauty at that with long pink hair. She took on the assassin work at the age of 16, not because she loves the work or something, it was the only way she could afford medicine for her sick brother, it pays faster plus she has a knack for it cause of the stealth ability that she had, some how she carries little presence and hardly make a noise when she moves or walk. it works in her advantage.
Alena received a mission to assassinate the countess who just got married to the count in 6 months, reasons for that was unknown cause she just takes the job and never questioned the client. On it was none of her business. She thought the job was gonna be pretty quick cause it was a defenseless woman but to get inside the estate talk less of her room was like trying to boil an egg with the sunlight, the place was ridiculously heavily guarded, they were mostly stationed in places that were deem unnoticed by and foreign attackers which was a very smart move, Alena now understood why he was the strongest sword in the empire, quite cunny indeed.
Alena decided to do an inside job, after she completes her mission she will flee the estate, they won't be able to find her cause of her fake identity and the fact that she lives in the outskirts of evania empire, not a very common village. Alena cut her hair to blend in, she was shorter so matches the age that she used to register. After the vigorous training she finally got in, she was placed in squad 3, the stealth and information squad. As it should be. Now that Alena was inside the castle, she still couldn't reach the countess, it was almost impossible to meet her cause she was always in her room and barely goes outside, what is she a mould??
Since the day Alena started to work as a knight she has never once seen the countess. There were a lot of rumors about the countess Alena doesn't even knows the one to believe, but the most confirmed was that ot wa definitely a loveless marriage. Alena can't get close to the countess because his post is a bit far from her residence so roaming around her residence to fish for information will be too risky, keeping a low profile till the end was her number one rule as she was kneen on avoiding unnecessary questions and background checks.
Of all the individuals in the estate, the number one person she strongly avoids is Felix, count Leonard right had man, the closest to the count . He was a 6'5 at most, with black long hair and a yellow Iris that makes him look like a descendant of a black dragon, skin is pale, arms , legs are slightly slender, he often wear clothes that never expose any part of him so no one was sure of his exact body size, let's just stay he looks like a beautiful nerd. Felix was always by count Leonard side, rumor has it that they grew up together if possible they are cousins or somehow related, nobody knew the exact story caused they both keep things to themselves only.
Alena has only seen him from afar while he work , he looks simple and diligent from what she observed on the surface level, but the rumors about him were something else. Some said he was kind, some said his bright attitude are pretence, she even heard that he hates being close to women, aristocrats especially. First time she saw him closely was in the knights residence. It was during a free time, Alena left her room to survey the place so she could familiarize herself with it.
The knights residence were divided according to the number of squad, since she's in squad 3 she stays in block B. Two squad shares a block. While roaming the corridor, Alena finger's sweeps the wall enjoying the structural beauty as she walls, Alena pace begins to fasten, for the sensation of her fingers sweeping the wall was weirdly satisfying . In just a few seconds, she lose concentration of her surroundings and bump into a man which snaps her back to reality. Alena reclaimed her balance to look at who she bumped into, she tilted her head slightly upward to take a look at his face, those yellow eyes staring down at her and she dared to stare back. They said the eyes are the window to the soul, it gives you a glimpse of how full they are, but the one she stares at right now is on the very brink of emptiness, the glitter in his eyes are most likely gone, nothing interest him anymore. She knows cause she sees those eyes almost every day of her life, her younger brother who is sick and never having the hope of ever becoming better, her brother sometimes forces himself to smile or better look alive all for her sake but she understands well how he feels and would never give up on him, he's the only family she has left. Seeing those eyes remind her of her brother, she felt deep sympathy for him.
"Are you okay?"
She blurt out sub consciously with much care.
"It seems they failed to teach you basic etiquette for you have close to none"
his light deep voice resounding across the corridor.
Alena flinched backwards and realized that she was talking to no other than Felix cristwell. She adjusted by taking a step back and salute by placing her right hand across her left shoulder as she bowed her head slightly downward.
"Forgive my incompetence . Greetings sir"
She said.
"At ease soldiers, I'll let it slide and I'll have you not repeat it self again"
He commands. Alena stood up right and answered
"Yes sir"
Felix stared at him for a little while and thought he looks weird, he looks thin.then he continued to speak,
"It's as if they've allowed people who looks spineless into the knights order... What is your name?"
"Alen.... S.. sir"
She answered as she feared that Felix has began to take note of her
"Age??"
He asked
"18 sir"
"You look nothing like what you claim, you look rather 16" he said with an expressionless face
Alena was breaking cold sweat , she knew her size was gonna be a problem, but didn't know it will be coming this so on.she was hoping he'll stop asking questions and just leave already but the questions kept coming.
"How did you manage to pass the exam with a wimpy body of yours?"
He asked.
Alena just thought it was all thanks to her training from her job that she was able to build stamina, the exam was like a piece of cake.
"I tried my best"
She responded.
"You squad?"
"Stealth sir"
"Fair, maybe they thought you are rather intelligent"
He said nonchalantly.
'thought?? I am intelligent,' Alena fumed inwardly, cursing him and his foul attitude.
"You are dismissed"
He waved his hands lightly and walked away
Alena let out a sigh of relief, then something strucked her, if Felix was able to deduce a lot of observations from just one meeting, then it is best that he was avoided at mostand do nothing that will attract attention, Alena just hopes he forgets her face and name.
People always love the stories of the mighty crown prince of a country, or a princess will to exercise their freedom of opinion, or a cold demure of a Duke becoming soft hearted just for love, countless lovely stories of the royalty or the most powerful of them all.. but .. we won't be going there this time around, this is the time for the stories of the underlings, who exercise little power, suffering the consequences of their little actions where there is no alternate escape but to only endure the gruesome ways from the ones above them. Together they flock, denial of the other efforts, thinking being alone best works, A FOOL FOR A FOOL the best match.
