Chapter 3 - Episode 1 - Elio V. Astrea (2)

[Error!]

A message screen pops up in front of the screen. A sharp pain entered his eyes, causing Leo to flinch. Not only that, but the system voice suddenly got louder. It kept repeating the same word, and each word got progressively louder. Leo had a feeling he was about to experience another hell.

[Error!]

[Error!]

[Error!]

What is supposed to sound like a whisper turns into a scream. Error is being plastered around the screen; there is no corner left that isn't being filled by the word. It hurt his eyes, it hurt his mind, and he felt like his brain was being melted. The pain was much worse than before, and mixed with the scream, it's unbearable. He couldn't even scream, as if something were stuck inside his throat, preventing voices from coming out.

He held his head with both hands, his nails sinking into the skin of his head; he felt like his brain was about to explode.

THIS IS HELL! WHAT KIND FUCK UP TORTURE METHOD IS THIS?!

AHHHHHH! MAKE IT BLOODY STOP!!!

His mind scream but that's the only thing he can do.

"Damn it... Shut! up!" He manages to mutter, but the pain persists. He felt like he was losing his entire will. His entire mind—if he can't do anything, Leo felt he was going to die. He has to do something, and so in a desperate attempt and with no option left, he raises his fist.

Bang!

"SHUT THE FUCK UP!" And shouted at the top of his lung. His fist hits the side of the bathroom door, leaving a crack and make his fist throb.

...

Silence.

Finally his mind met with silence. His head felt strangely empty.

Leo caught his breath and leaned on the side of the bathroom door; he reached for his head and began to soothe his pain by massaging it.

"Bloody hell. What was that?" He mutters, thinking it's over.

Ding!

Before his ears met another notification sound.

[Due to $#$#$$, #$# Reset.]

[$*#*$#*#]

[Please be patient.]

Leo wasn't sure what it was trying to say, but the word reset made him let out a sigh of relief. He dragged his feet to the bed and began to lie down. The day hasn't started yet, and yet he already feels like he's had one long day.

He felt extremely exhausted, unable to think. The more he tried to, the more pain he felt.

Let's... just go to sleep. He thought as he let himself sink deeper into the bed.

His eyelids got heavy once more, and slowly he began falling asleep.

Knock! Knock! Knock!

Only to be woken by someone at the door.

For a moment, he was considering murder, but thankfully Leo isn't as hot-blooded as he was before. If he were, he would grab his gun and simply shoot whoever bothered him. The person on the other side of the door was lucky.

The noise irritated him, but he was unable to complain. He realises he must be too loud; he did shout at the top of his lungs just now. He massaged his temples and let out a groan once more, "Bloody hell. Events after events."

He took a deep breath to calm himself.

I got too easily irritated. I needed to calm myself before I did something irreversible.

Knock! Knock! Knock!

"Elio?"

The voice sounds familiar; Leo had a feeling this person has a personal connection towards Elio. He gets out of the bed, heads towards the door, and waits for the other person to speak once more. He knew of the person's voice but wasn't sure who that voice belonged to. He has Elio's memories now, but it doesn't mean all of it is fully inside his head. He needed more time for him to digest Elio's memories.

"El?" the voice calls for him again. Leo close his eyes and let out a long exhales as he try to remember Elio memories.

"... Just a sec, Art."

He twisted the doorknob, and his eyes met with a man with green eyes. He is quite shorter than Elio, probably around 170 cm or so. He has this bright, youthful appearance, not having experienced the world just yet. He lacks facial hair, making him easily mistaken for being much younger. He has long, luscious crimson-coloured hair, making him quite attractive. There is an aura of nobility in him in the way he stands, and the callous on his hand shows that he took great effort into perfecting his craft. Arthur Rosenberg, Elio's best friend.

"Elio, you ok man?" He is a kind man, always looking out for Elio more than anything.

Elio treasures their friendship, and Arthur is one, if not the only, friend that Elio has.

How sad. Leo couldn't help but think.

"Yeah, yeah, of course I am. What makes you say that?" Leo spoke in a casual, almost nonchalant way as he gave Arthur a smile.

"Really? You don't look too good. Are you sick? Do you need a doctor?" Arthur look at Leo with concern though appreciate, Leo felt more awkward than appreciate it. After all, he isn't Elio.

"Nah, it's fine. I'm fine."

"Are you sure? You look unwell, plus you were also yelling. Are you sure you're okay, man?" Arthur looks worried for his friend; he always worries about Elio because of Elio's lack of friends and confidence in himself. Arthur always looks out for him. But for Leo it felt more than a pain.

"Was I?" Leo figured he must be loud just then. He's not an expert, but the wall doesn't look like it's thick enough for it to be blocking sounds. He scratches the back of his neck, thinking of any excuse he can find. "The birds were... chirping a bit too loud." He mentally punches himself for giving a stupid answer on the fly. Leo want to just kill himself right here and there.

"...erm, I guess so."

"...Yeah… sorry for shouting." He slowly closing his door, "I'm gonna go to bed now."

"Bed? It's already morning and we got exam after this."

"... is it?"

"Yeah. Did you forget? We agreed to meet down the hall at 8."

It wasn't as he forget per say, more like he have no recollection of ever making such promise.

"It seem I did."

"Were you up all night studying again?"

"It isn't like that. You go ahead. Give me like 10 minutes. I'll be right there after this."

"Alright, don't take too long. Roze will be waiting as well. You shouldn't keep a lady waiting, El." Arthur beams as he walks away.

"Yeah, I won't be long." Leo let out a tired sigh as he closed the door and locked it.

Ding!

A notification appear once more. It make him slightly flinch as he prepares to meet another headache.

What now!?

[Due to an issue with the system, I apologise for the inconvenience, user. For now, the only feature you have access to is your overall stats.

Apology for the delay, user.

Proper compensation will be given later. So for now, please be patient as the system synchronises with you.

Once again, I apologise for the slight discomfort that the system will give, but for now, please bear with it.]

After reading the wall of text, Let let out a sigh; it seems the headache won't get any worse. Don't get him wrong, the headache is still there, but compared to before, it feels like a mild annoyance more than anything.

"Bloody hell." Leo mumble under his breath.

The thing with the system is put on hold for now, but the other problem is going outside. If he could, he would simply go back to bed, but he needs to avoid suspicion.

It's a test. Looking back, Elio studied hard for this. It would be a shame to ruin his hard work just because I stole his body.

He flexes his wrist for a bit. "For now, I will help you out, Elio. So lend me your body for awhile."

"You look different." She said it in a soft-like manner. She has soft pale skin and beautiful blonde hair. But the thing you notice first is her eyes, deep blue sapphire eyes. The way she sat really showed how ladylike and lavish an upbringing she had. A person of wealth and a person who never knew poverty.

Rozanne Sinclair from the house of Sinclair, Elio's childhood friend and Arthur's fiancee.

Elio always felt a strange awkwardness whenever he was talking to her, not because he found her beautiful or anything. Leo doesn't quite fully understand Elio; he simply deduced that Elio is quite an awkward and shy kid.

"Thought of trying something new." Leo answers. "After all, we are going to enter Zaniah. I can't stay me forever, can I?" Leo thought this was the best way to explain his new behaviour towards Rozanne and Arthur. This way, when he doesn't act as Elio, he can simply say that he is just trying to change his image.

Leo doesn't know what the consequence would be if people found out that Leo isn't Elio. He had read a couple of stories regarding transmigration in the past, and it ended badly for the protagonist. He needs to take precautions for his and Elio's sake.

Still, his new look isn't that much of a drastic change; he simply slicks his hair back. Leo doesn't think he looks much different nor attractive. But Rozanne would say otherwise.

Elio's old appearance makes him look meek. His hair would cover his forehead, and he would wear these rounded glasses. It makes him look meek, appearing timid. Plus, with Elio's lack of self-confidence, Elio simply looks like an easy target.

Now, he appears to be different. He appears a bit more intimidating. His gaze looked sharper, and from the way he walked and the way he stood, he finally had an air of nobility about him. Rozanne couldn't help but let out a smile and agreed. "You're right. You look much better than before."

"But are you fine without your glasses?" Arthur add.

And that's when Leo remembered, Elio wore glasses. This explains why his vision is slightly blurry from afar. Leo is still getting a hand on being Elio; he looks at Arthur and simply lets out a 'nervous' laugh. "It's fine. I won't need them for a while." he assures Arthur.

Leo simply wasn't bothered to grab his glasses. He just wants to head to the exam and come back quickly. The sooner they left, the sooner they would finish. And so Leo heads towards the door before looking back to his two 'friends.' "Come on. We don't want to be late, do we?"
