While I was having lunch with Rachel and Professor Lena, my phone suddenly buzzed.
A message from Nora had appeared on the screen.
Nora
> Meet me. It's urgent...Go with me as my partner to Leo's birthday party.
I stared at the message for a few seconds.
…What now?
I couldn't figure out what had gotten into her.
The wording made it sound like something serious had happened, but the actual request was so unexpected that I wasn't sure how to react.
Still, knowing Nora, there was probably a reason behind it.
I decided to meet her at the café where we usually went after school.
After finishing lunch, I made my way there.
The familiar bell jingled as I pushed open the café door.
This place had practically become our usual meeting spot. We'd spent so much time here that I could probably find our favorite table with my eyes closed.
Unfortunately, I wasn't in the mood to enjoy the familiar atmosphere today.
