Chapter 6 - The Surrender-2

A Desperate Stand

The battlefield was in ruins. Smoke and debris filled the air, the remnants of the brutal clash between Cain Velcrow and the strongest Hunters of the Association. Kael stood frozen, his mind racing.

The decision had already been made.

"I surrender," Kael said, his voice steady despite the chaos around him. His body was battered, exhaustion weighing heavily on him, but he forced himself to stand tall. "Please… don't hurt Cain."

Cain, bloodied and panting, turned sharply toward Kael. "What the hell are you saying?" His voice was filled with disbelief. "Run, Kael! As far as you can!"

Kael clenched his fists. He couldn't run—not while Cain was still fighting. He knew Cain had stepped in to protect him, had risked everything to shield him from the Association's judgment. And now, Cain was being torn apart.

The strongest Hunter of the Association, a figure clad in obsidian armor, stood before Cain, blade in hand. "Velcrow, you've interfered long enough," the Hunter said coldly. "Step aside."

Cain spat blood onto the ground and smirked. "You know me better than that."

Without another word, the battle resumed.

---

Escape

Cain lunged, his sword meeting the Hunter's blade in a deafening clash. Sparks ignited in the air as their weapons clashed at impossible speeds. Kael barely had time to react before another explosion shook the battlefield.

This was a fight between monsters.

"Kael!" Cain roared between blows. "Go!"

Kael's instincts screamed at him to stay, to fight. But deep down, he knew the truth—if he stayed, he would only be a burden.

His legs moved on their own.

He turned.

And ran.

The sound of battle faded behind him, but his heart pounded in his chest. He didn't know where he was going—all he knew was that he had to get away. If he was captured now, it was over.

But then—

He skidded to a stop.

The air shifted.

The battle behind him was suddenly… silent.

Kael turned his head, and his stomach dropped.

Cain was on his knees, blood dripping from his mouth. His sword was shattered, his armor cracked. He had taken too much damage.

The strongest Hunter of the Association stood over him, blade raised for the final strike.

"No…" Kael whispered.

His hands trembled. His breathing quickened.

He had to do something.

---

A Power That Shouldn't Exist

Something inside him snapped.

A surge of energy erupted from his core, far beyond his control.

For the second time in his life, the Gates responded.

A blinding light enveloped him.

Heaven's Gate opened.

Hell's Gate cracked—just slightly.

Power flooded his veins. His wounds closed instantly. His vision sharpened. His senses expanded. He could feel everything—the energy in the air, the pulsing of life, the fear in Cain's breathing.

But he wasn't a god. He wasn't a monster.

He was just Kael.

His feet moved before his mind caught up.

BOOM!

The ground beneath him shattered as he launched himself forward.

The strongest Hunter turned just as Kael appeared before him.

Their eyes met.

Kael didn't hesitate.

His fist, imbued with divine energy, struck the Hunter's blade—

CRACK!

The weapon splintered under the force of his blow.

Shock flashed across the Hunter's face.

Cain, barely conscious, looked up in disbelief.

This wasn't normal.

This wasn't human.

Kael stood between them, his body glowing with an aura that didn't belong in this world.

The power of Heaven's Gate had chosen him.

And the apocalypse itself trembled in response.

The Arrival

The Strongest Association's forces, watching from a distance, immediately reacted.

"Impossible…" one of them whispered.

"He's controlling it…" another said in awe.

Their leader, the strongest Hunter, clenched his jaw. This wasn't what they expected. Kael wasn't losing control—he was barely holding it together.

A moment later, the sky cracked.

Alarms blared across the city.

Something had changed.

Kael knew it.

Cain knew it.

And the world… would never be the same again.

---

A Hand Reaching Out

Kael stood in silence, his breathing heavy. The power inside him had settled, but he knew it wouldn't last. He had pushed himself too far.

Cain groaned behind him. "Damn… kid…"

Kael turned, kneeling beside him. "Don't talk. I'll get you out of here."

But before he could move, someone else appeared.

Iria.

Her silver hair glowed in the moonlight as she stepped forward, her eyes filled with worry.

"Kael…" she whispered.

She had been watching.

And now, she reached out.

Kael, for the first time since everything began, felt like he wasn't alone.

He reached back.

And took her hand.
