Chapter 1 - Chapter 1 — The Dare

The bass thrummed through the neon-lit club, vibrating against the floor as lights flashed in wild shades of red and violet. Laughter and music tangled together, thick with the scent of alcohol and desire.

Ren Liwei leaned back against the couch, a half-empty glass of whiskey in his hand. His silky black shirt hung open at the collar, revealing the faint glint of a silver chain. His friends surrounded him — loud, drunk, and full of dares.

"Liwei!" one of them shouted over the music. "Truth or dare?"

Liwei smirked, his lips curving lazily. "You really think I'd choose truth?"

The group roared with laughter.

"Fine then," another friend said, eyes glinting mischievously. "Dare. See that man over there?" He pointed toward the VIP section — where a tall, cold-looking man in a tailored black suit sat, a glass of wine in his hand. "Go kiss him."

Liwei's smirk froze.

The man was breathtaking — sharp features, sleek hair, and an aura that screamed danger and power. He was surrounded by older men in expensive suits; clearly, business elites. But what really caught Liwei's attention was the way the man's dark eyes lifted, calm yet piercing, locking onto his from across the room.

Liwei's heart gave a quick, traitorous jump.

"You've got to be kidding me," he said, setting down his glass.

The friend grinned. "Scared?"

Liwei chuckled, his tongue brushing over his lower lip. "Please. Watch and learn."

He stood up, fixing his shirt cuffs before walking straight toward the VIP section — confident, graceful, every eye following him. The tall man's business partners looked up in surprise as Liwei stopped right in front of their table.

The man — Xian Lu — didn't say a word. His gaze stayed steady, unflinching, even as Liwei leaned in.

"Sorry in advance," Liwei whispered with a smirk.

Before anyone could react, Liwei pressed his lips to Xian Lu's — quick, soft, and daring. Gasps rippled through the table. Someone muttered, "He's done for," under their breath.

But Xian Lu didn't push him away.

For a heartbeat, time stood still. The world faded — no music, no people, just the faint warmth of lips against lips. And something dangerous flickered in Lu's chest… a heartbeat too fast, too real.

Liwei pulled back, licking his lips teasingly. "Dare complete," he murmured, leaning close enough for only Lu to hear. "Sorry, it was a dare."

Then he turned and walked away — graceful as ever — leaving silence in his wake.

Xian Lu's business partners exchanged confused looks, expecting anger, but he said nothing. His fingers brushed his lips instead, his expression unreadable.

For the first time in years, his heart had skipped a beat.
