Chapter 442: The Ice Snow Maiden
Ye Wen had kept Huo Yu´er behind with a specific purpose in mind. When he returned, he found her gazing at Snow Empress with admiration.
"Wow! Sister, you're so beautiful!"
Already aware of her future, Snow Empress smiled kindly at Huo Yu´er. "And you're a very cute little sister."
As soon as Ye Wen returned, Huo Yu´er excitedly turned to him. "Master, is this pretty sister your wife?"
Ye Wen was taken aback. In the original timeline, Snow Empress was indeed his wife, but that wasn't the case in this world.
"Enough of that nonsense, you little brat," he replied, tapping her lightly on the forehead.
"Ouch! I'm sorry, Master!" Huo Yu´er apologized immediately.
But Ye Wen noticed a flash of disappointment in Snow Empress's eyes. It wasn't romantic more of an instinctive sense of loss. As one of the most powerful beings after Di Tian, she had lived over two hundred thousand years without finding a mate worthy of her strength. Now, with someone who met that criterion yet did not reciprocate her feelings, how could she not feel let down?
Ye Wen glanced around to ensure they were alone before setting up a cloaking barrier to keep anyone from spying. "Let's begin," he instructed simply.
Snow Empress, gathering herself, nodded and moved closer to Huo Yu´er. Suddenly, a strong red glow surrounded the two.
Ye Wen's voice sounded calm and steady. "Clear your mind, Yu´er. Snow Empress is offering herself as a sacrifice to empower your empty second spirit slot with a true ice based martial spirit. Focus on sensing her energy as it merges with yours."
Realizing what was happening, Huo Yu´er quickly steadied herself, allowing her mind to open and merge with the powers of the continent's only Ice Snow Maiden.
Snow Empress's form began to dissolve. In her final moments, she gave Ye Wen a gentle nod of gratitude, while Ye Wen looked on, expression steady.
The Douluo God Realm was nothing but a realm of parasites, in Ye Wen's view. These so called gods relied on the faith and inherent spiritual energy of lesser beings for their existence; without that, they would eventually face their own Ragnarok. While Ye Wen possessed the knowledge to share divinity, he was currently without any divine seats to bestow. Though he could open his Seagod's Realm for others to train, this world was not suited to beings like Snow Empress and Ice Empress, creatures of ice and snow.
If Huo Yu´er was to one day overthrow the God Realm, she would need allies. Although Ye Wen could create an ice spirit deity for her by sheer will, his goal was for her to build loyal followers, beginning now. This kind of ambition wasn't about friendship or camaraderie; it was about building authority.
Ye Wen watched with anticipation. The road Huo Yu´er would take was a rebellion against fate itself, an overthrow from the bottom up. He felt a rare excitement. "Don't disappoint me, Yu´er," he murmured.
He intended to observe Huo Yu´er further. If she showed the right qualities, she might even inherit his Seagod's position in the future. For now, however, the ritual neared its end.
When the sacrificial light faded, Ye Wen stepped forward not to support Huo Yu´er, but to catch a small figure falling gently to the ground. Following the ritual, a ten thousand year soul beast did not die outright. In Snow Empress's case, her essence now resided within Huo Yu´er's soul, nurtured by the life force of Tianmeng Iceworm until Huo Yu´er reached rank one hundred and Snow Empress could awaken anew.
Ye Wen glanced down at the small, sleeping figure of the reincarnated Snow Empress, who now resembled a small child, barely reaching his knee. Her petite, angelic appearance made his heart soften. Lolis are the best, he thought fondly.
Meanwhile, Huo Yu´er opened her eyes. Her once short, blue hair had become a cascade of long, white locks, her expression cool and distant, radiating the presence of an ice goddess. Her blue gold eyes glinted with a new sense of divine authority.
In the next instant, a wave of frigid air rippled outward. Ye Wen watched with satisfaction; the effect of Snow Empress's spirit was apparent.
The Ice Jade Emperor Scorpion was powerful, boasting both Ultimate Ice and poison attributes, but it fell short of the pure, lethal cold wielded by Snow Empress. Seeing this transformation, Ye Wen was content; with a new martial spirit like the Ice Snow Maiden, Huo Yu´er's potential would surpass ordinary limits.
However, when she caught sight of Ye Wen, the imposing aura vanished, replaced by a nervous energy as she panicked inwardly. What was I thinking, looking at Master like that?
Ye Wen didn't seem bothered by her reaction and chuckled. "Not bad at all, Yu´er. You're already in control of the Ice Snow Maiden spirit."
Blushing slightly at the compliment, Huo Yu´er tried to hide her embarrassment. She then noticed the tiny snow maiden in his arms and approached eagerly.
"Master, who is this little sister?" she asked, her eyes gleaming.
Ye Wen gave her a slight push back. "Careful! You'll wake her if you get too loud."
Huo Yu´er pouted slightly, folding her arms. "Hmph, Master, you're playing favorites already!"
Ye Wen shook his head, amused. When had his once reserved disciple become so cheeky?
