Chapter 440: Rebirth and Transformation, Part 2

Soft Bone Rabbit Martial Soul Skills

First Soul Skill: Waist Bow (Instantly enhances waist strength by 100%, flexibility by 50%. After level 10, each additional level increases the effect by 1%.)

Second Soul Skill: Gravity Control (Increases or decreases gravity)

Third Soul Skill: Teleportation (Instant shift within five meters)

Ye Wen scanned the list, noting the skills had a familiar ring. He was pleased that Jiang Nannan's second soul skill was Gravity Control rather than a Confusion skill like Xiao Wu's; Gravity Control not only restricted enemies but could also enhance her agility, giving her better combat versatility.

These three skills positioned Jiang Nannan to pursue a balanced style rather than focusing on an extreme approach. Though lacking the ability to excel in one specialized field, she could still handle various situations a skill set that wasn't rare but remained useful.

Yet, Ye Wen couldn't shake a mild irritation. The waist bow, while powerful and augmentative, seemed like a means to bait enemies. Even if skills like Xiao Wu's eight stage grapple and other combative moves were fierce, they hadn't been passed down. But as Ye Wen thought further, he realized the waist bow's understated potential. Dismissed by many as trivial, it was actually a versatile augmentation skill perfect for nimble and resilient fighters.

Reflecting on Douluo Continent's stagnant combat system, Ye Wen noted that it had remained rigid and unchanging over thousands of years. It still relied on static soul skills rather than evolving through the creation of new techniques. Unlike Douluo's traditional system, Sun Moon Empire's arrival had already begun to change things.

Ultimately, he decided Jiang Nannan needed a skill that was lethal enough to overcome any enemy in a single strike. His finger traced to the upper right of the skill tree, stopping on a powerful choice.

Moon Stomp: This skill unleashes the user's full physical strength into a single, sacrificial blow. Though immensely damaging, it comes at a significant cost to the user's body. In Jiang Nannan's case, mastery over "Shigan" would reduce the negative side effects to a minimum.

"Moon Stomp," Ye Wen murmured, locking in his decision. Soft Bone Rabbit might not be a strong soul beast, and most of its skills were suited for evasion rather than combat. But this skill would suit her needs.

With a few deft gestures, Ye Wen reconfigured the soul ring's skill choice. Invincible Golden Body faded, replaced by the new Moon Stomp skill. As Jiang Nannan completed her refinement of the ring, she appeared drenched in sweat, the effort leaving her visibly drained.

"Take a moment to rest," Ye Wen said softly.

Jiang Nannan nodded, too exhausted for words. She wasn't alone Huo Yu´er was in even worse shape. While the Narcissus Jade Muscle Bone focused on enhancing the body's pathways, the Odd Velvet Sky Chrysanthemum specialized in fortifying physical strength. This was particularly beneficial for Huo Yu´er, whose body had suffered from malnutrition.

At the moment, Huo Yu´er was covered in a fine layer of white down, her body swollen to nearly twice its size. Lying flat on the ground in pain, her enlarged arms and legs looked like they had been inflated.

Despite the agony of this transformation, Huo Yu´er gritted her teeth and endured in silence. Ye Wen observed her with a sense of pity. For someone so young to tolerate such pain without complaint spoke volumes about her unyielding will and inner torment.

Ye Wen's lips curled into a soft smile. Among Douluo Continent's power structures, the ones that repulsed him most included the White Tiger clan and the Xu Clan. Though he'd already toppled the White Tiger clan in his own timeline, he harbored no sympathy for their affiliates here.

To forgive such ingrained injustice was beyond Ye Wen's principles. "True justice means repaying harm in kind and kindness with loyalty," he mused.

With his gaze fixed on Huo Yu´er, Ye Wen resolved that this world's old relics had no place in his vision. Huo Yu´er was bound for greatness, and the old guard would have to fall before her reign.

"Stay strong, Yu´er," he whispered with quiet determination.

Now, Jiang Nannan had recovered enough to stand. She glanced over to Huo Yu´er, her brow furrowing with worry as she took in her friend's pain stricken state. "Master, is Yu´er going to be okay?"

Ye Wen nodded calmly, "Yes, she'll be fine. Just as you advanced to level 45, Yu´er's strength will rise significantly. I'd like you to reach level 50 before consuming any more strengthening herbs."

"I trust your judgment, Master," Jiang Nannan said, offering a faint smile.

Just then, Huo Yu´er's tense expression relaxed, and her swollen limbs began to return to normal. The fine white down receded, revealing a gaze newly golden as Huo Yu´er opened her eyes.

"Awakened gold?" Ye Wen muttered, surprised by her transformed appearance. But he quickly realized it was not a complete awakening of her secondary martial spirit, since there were no accompanying ethereal signs.

Noticing Ye Wen's stare, a slightly self conscious Huo Yu´er quickly sprang to her feet, only to discover that her newfound strength made it hard to control her movements. She stumbled, catching herself just in time.

Ye Wen gently reassured her, "Don't worry. This is the effect of the Odd Velvet Sky Chrysanthemum; it'll take some time to adjust, but soon your strength will feel natural."
