Chapter 20 - Chapter 20: Old Rules, the Title Maiden is Out

Winters felt the warmth emanating from her chin, her gaze towards me filled with profound shock.

Who is she?

The Dean of the Desidero True Dragon Academy.

One of the five legendary peak True Dragons of the Desidero Dragon Roost.

What is the concept of Legend?

In the nine realms of Black Iron, Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum, Amethyst, Legend, Myth, and Mythology, it is second only to Myth and Mythology itself.

As for True Dragons of mythological echelon, she has never heard of any in the more than six thousand years since her own birth.

She has heard of legends, and they are quite proximate.

The protector of this Dragon Lair, Desidero, is the sole legendary True Dragon within the Dragon Roost.

This demonstrates how formidable she is.

And that is indeed true.

Her Dragon Scales can significantly mitigate the damage from magical elements, especially the fire element.

For her, it is no great matter to physically withstand fire-based forbidden spells.

Yet my breath could actually cause her to feel warmth.

This signifies that the breath cast by this young dragon, born less than two days prior, possesses a temperature comparable to high-level fire magic.

And under the circumstances of my unexpected exhalation, a True Dragon's breath can completely injure opponents below the gold tier, including those at the gold level itself.

Even if temperature does not entirely represent power, and inflicting injury does not equate to vanquishing, it is still exceedingly astonishing.

The power of this True Dragon's breath is clearly not something a mere young dragon should possess.

Thinking of this, Winters' gaze towards me flashed with a hint of complexity.

She had originally surmised that without the ability to practice magic, I would, at most, be an ordinary True Dragon.

But now, she must redefine my future potential.

Moreover...

"Vet, promise me, unless a dragon betrays Desidero, your breath must never be aimed at Desidero's True Dragons, especially..."

Speaking of this, Winters glanced at Celine and the others.

She did not continue.

Hearing this, I, who had exhausted almost all of my strength due to a single breath, was first stunned, and then my eyes lit up.

"So, my breath is exceedingly potent?"

Winters nodded emphatically.

"Exceedingly potent, exceedingly so; a young dragon who has not yet passed the Young Dragon stage cannot withstand your breath at all."

Hearing this, the gazes of Celine and the others towards me suddenly became wary.

They had not reacted at all to that breath just now, coupled with Winters' almost exaggerated reaction; evidently, the power of my breath far surpassed their imagination.

On the other side, I met Winters' solemn gaze, and then nodded.

"I understand, Winters; from this day forward, I shall not employ my breath unless absolutely necessary."

Hearing this, Winters' gaze towards me softened even further.

"Vet, I am glad you can say that.

Desidero is a peaceful Dragon Lair; ordinary scuffles and fights, even if resulting in injury, are of little consequence.

But if a dragon is maliciously injured, the offender will be banished from Desidero forever."

And if it leads to death, the most favorable outcome is banishment.

I watched you come into this world with my own eyes.

In my eyes, you are all my children, and I never wish for any of you to reach that dire point."

Saying this, Winters looked at me deeply, then asked softly, "How are you feeling now?

Do you require me to send you back to the Dragon Lair prematurely?"

I shook my head.

"I merely feel a little fatigued.

I shall be well after resting here for a while."

Winters nodded, then turned her eyes to Celine and the others.

"Vet has provided us with an excellent demonstration, so now it is your turn.

Employ your Inner Focus to guide the magical elements within the Dragon Crystal, inject them into the Elemental Lung, then open your mouth and exhale!

Remember, it is exhaling, not inhaling.

You most assuredly do not wish to discover firsthand how powerful your own Dragon Breath is."

Under Winters' guidance, Celine and the others also began to attempt to use True Dragon Breath.

I lay to the side, observing attentively.

I wished to know if the power of my breath was merely an isolated case, or if every young dragon's breath was similarly potent.

Soon, Celine, unsurprisingly, became the second young dragon to employ Dragon Breath.

Exceedingly similar to my own exhalation.

A white light flashed, and then Celine's spirit visibly diminished.

However, Celine's breath lacked a preparatory phase, nor did it produce a blazing white flame.

Whether it was coincidence or Celine's intention, this breath also landed upon Winters' chin.

Winters did not mind this in the slightest.

"Very good, Celine, quite powerful."

Celine looked at the scale on Winters that was struck yet remained unchanged, and a trace of unwillingness flashed in her eyes.

"How does it compare to Vet's?"

Winters knew not how to respond for a moment without wounding Celine's self-esteem.

But in reality, such silence is even more hurtful to a Dragon.

Seeing Winters' reticence, Celine walked aside and lay down, staring intently at me.

I felt uncomfortable all over.

Fortunately, Ao's actions attracted Celine's attention.

Golden flames emanated from Ao's mouth, and then, a fan-shaped torrent of magma spewed forth.

The magma mostly landed upon the scales on Winters' chin, then flowed downwards, with some landing directly upon the grass below.

The flowing magma not only ignited the weeds upon the ground, but even the gravel melted under the intense heat of the magma.

"Very good; the viscosity of the magma is commendable, the temperature is quite high, and it also contains fire toxin—an authentic Magma exhalation."

Hearing this, Ao glanced at me, then lay down on the spot, squinting slightly.

But if one observed carefully, one would find that Ao's gaze had been wandering over me and the others, especially me and Celine.

The fourth was Billy.

Completely different from the previous three dragons, Billy's breath first gathered in his agape mouth, coalescing into a fiery red sphere.

Then, streaks of a special crimson energy shot out from the red sphere, subsequently forming into rhombus-shaped rubies, with edges that looked exceedingly sharp.

The rubies, enveloped in fire elements, shot towards Winters' chin like a shower of raindrops, then shattered into myriad pieces upon impacting Winters' Dragon Scales.

Winters looked at Billy, who was exhausted yet brimming with pride, and the corner of her mouth could not help but twitch.

"Alright, a genuine Crystal Breath."

Hearing this, Billy's expression immediately collapsed.

If he remembered correctly, Crystal Breath, in Winters' own words, was the least powerful of all True Dragon breaths.

Finally, it was Dinnett's turn.

A green light, like a small cascade, issued from Dinnett's mouth, still landing upon Winters' chin, evidently without any discernible reaction.

However, Celine, Billy, Ao, and I looked at Dinnett with a hint of gravity.

Simply because that breath, which seemed to possess no overt power, had drained the very vitality from the grass between Dinnett and Winters.

Yes, it was vitality.

Whether it was grass or earth, they all presented a lifeless, grayish-white hue.

After Winters was momentarily stunned, a hint of joy flashed in her eyes.

"Very good, Dinnett, a natural breath more potent than Toxic Breath."

Hearing this, Dinnett smiled wearily, without exhibiting pride or any other discernible reaction...
