After the chaotic storm, an eerie calm finally settled over the world.
For the first time in what felt like forever, there were no explosions. No divine pressure crushing the heavens. No abyssal storms raging across the land. No screams of a dying God. There was only silence.
Damon remained suspended in the air, his clothes torn to shreds and his body covered in dried blood. The thousands of crimson tendrils surrounding him slowly dissolved, turning into tiny droplets before sinking back into his body. The golden symbols disappeared along with them.
THUMP.
Deep inside him, the newly formed Origin Core pulsed once. Damon stiffened. Then nothing happened. The tiny golden star continued to rotate peacefully as though it hadn't just devoured the very existence of a God.
"What a fucking day..." Damon exhaled and looked around.
Only now did he truly see what remained of Earth. The sight wiped away whatever satisfaction he had felt.
