Chapter 26 - Chapter 26: A Sage’s Farewell

The morning sun bathed Konoha in a golden hue, casting long shadows through the streets as villagers went about their daily routines. The village was alive with laughter and chatter, a stark contrast to the somber mood lingering between two figures standing at the gates.

Renzo stood with his usual calm expression, his midnight blue hair shifting slightly in the breeze. Beside him, Taji adjusted the straps on his traveling pack, his expression torn between excitement and hesitation. He had grown much over the years, no longer the reckless boy who had first followed Renzo on his journey, but a young man who carried the marks of rigorous training and experience.

As the two prepared to depart, a familiar presence approached them. Hashirama Senju, the First Hokage, walked toward them with his signature warm smile. Despite the persistent fatigue in his eyes, there was an undeniable lightness to his step. He was accompanied by Mito Uzumaki, who observed them both with quiet interest.

"So, you're really leaving?" Hashirama asked, his tone more wistful than surprised.

Renzo nodded. "Our path is not meant to remain in one place. We have seen what Konoha has to offer. It is time we move forward."

Hashirama chuckled. "You sound like a true wanderer. But I can't help but feel it would have been good for Konoha to have someone like you stay. A presence like yours… it shifts the very air of this village."

Renzo gave a small, knowing smile. "Stagnation comes from staying too long in one place. Konoha does not need me to shape its future. It is in capable hands." His golden eyes flickered slightly as he glanced toward the Hokage.

Hashirama sighed, rubbing the back of his head. "Tobirama might not say it outright, but I think he feels the same. He's wary of you, of course, but that's just how he is. Still, I know he understands. Not everyone is meant to be tied to a single home."

Taji, who had been silent for most of the exchange, finally spoke. "Hashirama-sama… what do you think the villages seek? We've seen so many—each different, yet similar in their struggles."

Hashirama's face grew serious at the question, his usual jovial demeanor slipping. "Each village seeks stability, a way to protect its people. But the way they go about it varies. Some seek power, others seek unity, and a few seek control. The question is not what they seek, but how much they are willing to sacrifice to obtain it."

Taji frowned in thought, glancing at Renzo, who merely watched the exchange with quiet approval.

Mito, who had been silent, finally spoke. "The world is always shifting, always changing. True wisdom is not in resisting that change, but in knowing how to move with it. You both will see more of that than anyone."

Renzo gave a slight nod. "We will. And when we do, we will understand more."

Hashirama grinned. "Then I'll be looking forward to the day our paths cross again."

With that, there were no more words to be said. The parting was not one of sorrow, but of understanding. As Renzo and Taji stepped beyond Konoha's gates, they did not look back.

Their journey continued, and the world awaited them.
