Liyue Harbor, a prosperous port where a thousand sails gather. Here, under the governance of countless contracts, a great variety of goods are available, and its treasures are renowned throughout the seven nations. It is also the place where one can most often see foreigners.
Sumeru scholars wearing glasses, Snezhnayan merchants in thick clothing, heart-stirring bards from Mondstadt, and eloquently chatting adventurers...
These people gather together, forming the Liyue Harbor of today and making it the most prosperous port in all of Teyvat.
The fishermen who set up stalls at the harbor have noticed that recently, there seem to have been many adeptal encounters.
For example, in the past, if someone fell into the water, it was always the Millelith who came to the rescue. But recently, one can often see adepti walking on the waves to rescue those unlucky souls.
Over time, some who sought to ask the adepti for guidance began to get crafty ideas.
For instance, they would intentionally fall into the water, hoping to be saved by an adeptus and use the opportunity to ask for an adeptal boon.
At first, the adepti did indeed indulge them, intervening to save them.
But over time, the adepti grew tired of this behavior. They would either not reveal their true forms and simply use their arts to rescue the person, or they would directly notify the Millelith.
It wasn't until the Liyue Qixing learned of this matter and arrested a few of the more prominent offenders for disrupting the harbor's order that the situation finally subsided.
Besides this, there was that wealthy master who set up a stall near them.
That's right, a wealthy master.
This gentleman was handsome and carried himself with elegance. He could speak eloquently even about a simple wooden plank laid out on the harbor floor.
His opulent and luxurious attire was clearly of considerable value.
For some reason, however, he didn't sell seafood at the harbor, but rather Sunsettias.
Every day, he arrived the earliest and left the latest. He conducted his business without any regard for profit or loss. When he encountered poor families, he would even refuse their money and simply give the fruit away.
The most baffling thing was that he often carried a Chinese hwamei bird with a clear, bright voice. When he was happily teasing it, he would even neglect his business.
Yesterday was even more outrageous. Upon hearing that Ms. Yun was performing on stage, he abandoned his stall entirely, took his birdcage, and went straight to the Heyu Teahouse, leaving the surrounding people both exasperated and amused.
They were exasperated because he was occupying the best spot but didn't do proper business.
They were amused because if this gentleman couldn't "sell" all his fruit, he would give them away to them.
Although they were just some inexpensive Sunsettias, for these fishmongers, it was still an unexpected gain.
And the gentleman's various behaviors led everyone to a single conclusion.
This fellow must just be a wealthy master experiencing life. Some even began to guess which prominent household he managed.
"Mr. Yan is setting up his stall again? Is it Sunsettias again today?"
An old man came to the harbor with his fish at the fifth watch of the morning. The fish had been caught by his eldest son; each one was lively and exceptionally fresh. If they were noticed by the buyer from Xinyue Kiosk, then today wouldn't be a wasted trip.
"Indeed. Sweet Sunsettias are surely better than sour ones."
This Mr. Yan showed a kind smile and casually picked up a Sunsettia from his stall, offering it to the old man.
Although he looked younger than the old man, the old man always had the strange feeling that this Mr. Yan was actually older than him.
And also... do Sunsettias really come in a sour variety? This Mr. Yan certainly had a witty way of speaking.
"Thank you for the Sunsettia, Mr. Yan, but I've already had breakfast at home. I won't take your things."
Even knowing that this Mr. Yan was well-off, how could the simple and honest fisherman feel right about constantly taking things from others? At times like these, he would politely decline Mr. Yan's kindness.
Recently, he had also tried to give his own fish to this Mr. Yan. Although Mr. Yan accepted the fish on the surface, he had secretly placed Mora in the old man's small stool at some point, which made him feel quite embarrassed.
Seeing that the old man had no intention of taking the Sunsettia, this Mr. Yan did not insist.
Instead, he took the Sunsettia back, took out a handkerchief to wipe it again and again, and even carefully cut off a small piece to taste before eating it with reassurance.
The old man beside him found the sight quite pleasing.
As expected of a wealthy master, he even eats a Sunsettia with a sense of ceremony. If it were ordinary people like them, they probably wouldn't even bother to wipe it before popping it into their mouths.
"Is Mr. Yan waiting for someone? A friend? Or a relative?"
Through several days of observation, the old man had figured out Mr. Yan's purpose.
Rather than saying he was experiencing life by running a stall, it was more like he was waiting for someone.
He had looked out towards the other side of the sea more than once, as if searching for something.
"I suppose so. But I wouldn't call them a friend. More like... an enemy, perhaps."
Even someone as erudite as Mr. Yan didn't know how to describe the relationship between them.
Perhaps "enemy" was more appropriate.
"Then you can rest assured, Mr. Yan. Our Millelith are no slouches. They can definitely ensure your safety."
"If that were true, it would be for the best."
Mr. Yan smiled but did not refute him.
In fact, he did want the Millelith and the Liyue Qixing to be the ones to face her.
But... based on the energy he had been emitting, she should have already caught his scent and arrived today.
Why was the sea still calm, with no sign of anything unusual?
Could it be that she had lost her nerve? That she didn't dare to come?
But he had clearly communicated with her that day, and her rage did not seem like the type to let things go so easily.
Just as Mr. Yan was puzzling over this, an unexpected yet somewhat expected person appeared in the early morning of Liyue Harbor.
This person had an ethereal, adeptus-like aura. A red knot hung from her waist, there was a bell-like object on her chest, and on her head were decorations resembling a pair of horns.
At least to the people of Liyue, the horns on her head were decorations.
Although there was a hint of weariness on her face, she walked with a vigorous and lively gait, as if she didn't need to rest at all.
She stood in Liyue Harbor and surveyed her surroundings for a moment before quickly locking her sights on Mr. Yan.
She walked over quickly, nodded to the old man beside him as a greeting, and only then looked at Mr. Yan: "Emperor..."
"Sister Ganyu, is something the matter?"
Before the word "Emperor" could be spoken, Mr. Yan preemptively asked his question.
Ganyu: "???"
What strange roleplay is the Emperor playing now?
After a few seconds of stunned silence, Ganyu finally realized that the Emperor must not want the old man next to him to know his identity.
But... to be called "sister" by the Emperor was too...
After a moment of internal struggle, she remembered she had come on important business. So she walked past the stall to the Emperor's side and whispered something in his ear.
And what she said made the Lord's action of eating the Sunsettia pause for a moment.
"Is this true?"
"Absolutely true!"
"..."
For some reason, the Emperor suddenly felt that the Sunsettia in his mouth, which had been sweet just a moment ago, now seemed to have become a bit sour.
As for what Ganyu had said...
"News has come back from the Crux Fleet. They encountered a remnant of the Vortex on the high seas. Fortunately, there was a ronin from Inazuma on board, and they narrowly escaped disaster. However, Beisht had one of her heads severed by him and fled into the deep sea."
Perhaps it was an illusion, but although this was clearly good news, Ganyu felt that the Emperor seemed a bit... displeased.
But the Emperor was clearly smiling so benevolently.
