Chapter 12 - pouring

"Did you pack enough underwear. You should bring as much as you can, there is a good chance that washing them is going to be a luxury."

Johnathan was painting in his workspace. The door was wide open, the reason why could be heard in the form of sighs, curses and falling objects.

"Yes, I have enough. Are there any other tips, wich I already heard today."

Caelus was struggling with gathering his stuff. Shoes for long distances that went missing, a lack of clean socks and shirts, junk that might be useful or useless and bags that couldn't fit everything are the reason for his foul mood.

Jonathan sighed a bit louder than he normally would have, and Caelus heard it to his annoyance.

"It's your fault, I could have woken up earlier today, but nooooooo you wanted to stay longer."

Jonathan looked up, a frown was on his face. The only problem was that no one was there to witness it.

"Ohhw blame me huh. You were having such an awful time, talking with Edith is such a bother right? You were so bothered that you invited them for dinner tonight. You made it difficult for yourself, you could have gone home earlier ok your own, but you didn't."

There was no direct response, the only thing that could be heard was some murmuring.

"Dont forget to visit your mother allright, you won't be able while you are being trained".

Caelus finished closing his bag, it was filled till the brim and the knot was struggling holding everything inside. The young man put his bag on the dinner table and walked towards the workspace, until he stood in the door opening.

"I will go now, I don't know what else to put in my bags, nor have I the space for it. Are you joining me?" Caelus asked, his voice still having traces of sas in it.

Jonathan waved his hand, hinting that he should just go. A drop of paint fell from the brush because of the motion.

"Is that a new brush? What happend to the set you normally use?" Caelus asked. He had never seen his father use new brushes. He always used the ones from a set he got years ago."

"Some were damaged so I gave them to Paul, he should be done repairing them by tomorrow." Jonathan said without looking up, still focused on the easel in front of him.

"Allright, I won't make it a long visit".

Caelus put on his shoes and stepped outside the front door. The sun was poking him in the eyes, rendering him unable to see what was infront of him.

But a shadow crept in-between the young man and the ever burning star, just before his eyes could have adjusted to the bright light. It was a tender looking lady, holding different kinds of vegetables in a basket.

"Am I to early? I thought that you needed some help with preparations so I left home a bit sooner than mum and dad." Edith said, Caelus couldn't see wich expression she wore on her face. She was still fully enveloped by the light, only her silhouette was visible to him.

"You are indeed somewhat earlier than expected, but that's not a problem. I am going to say goodbye to mum, you want to join me?."

Caelus was now slowely getting used to the brightness of the outside world, Edith's face now getting more and more visible by the seccond showed a comfortable smile. But with his returning vision also came his gifts abilities. Her soul was a mixture of all different kinds of colours.

Caelus did not fully understand all these colours yet and what they actually meant, but he knew the most commen one.

Sadness.

"I wouldn't mind joining you, I havent payed my respects for a long time. Could I leave these inside? Edith moved the basket upwards, trying to show what is inside it.

Caelus opend the door and waited in the door opening. Edith walked towards the kitchen table and saw a big backpack that rested on top of it. She put her little basket right next to it.

"Oh Edith you already arived?" Jonathan said in suprise. He just walked inside the room, now holding a small box inside his hands. Edith eyes went towards the box but Jonathan instantly hid it behind his leg.

"Yeah I thought that Caelus needed some help so i came earlier, but that will come later. We are now going to Clara's grave."

Jonathan nodded and waved with his empty hand. "I will see you in a bit than."

Edith waved back and walked towards Caelus who was still waiting inside the front door opening.

"Did you see my dad?" He asked.

"Yeah, he was acting a bit weird, he held something in his hands and tried to hide it. Did something happen?" Edith asked.

Caelus was a bit confused. " nothing happend, you probably caught him stealing some of my food."

"Ah does that happen very often?" Edith asked.

Caelus nodded "shall we go, we don't have a lot of time if we want to eat in an appropriate hour."

Edith and Caelus than took their first step outside. The sun now fully hidden behind a giant cloud.

The two had seen each other a lot this week, but there conversation didn't seem to stop.

Their whole walk consisted out reliving the memories of them making a fortres in the nearby forest. They stood infront of Clara's grave before both of them realised it.

They stopped talking and sat down in the grass. The atmosphere changed instantly, from a warm and happy feeling to a cold and sad one. Time moved on while the memories of the lively Clara were stuck in their minds.

"I think we should head back soon" Edith said while holding her hand up, a rain droplet was now laying in her palm.

The wind was gathering more force. It was clear that a storm was incoming.

Caelus wanted to reply but he got cut short by a hard noice.

Bang

With the first strike of lightning and thunder came a flood of rain. It was like the skies were crying, after holding it in for ages.

Edith stood up and started running towards the village. Caelus wanted to do the same but he remained standing infront of his mother's grave.

"Well this might be the last time I visit you here. I wished that I could have stayed a bit longer, but that's life isn't it? Take care of dad while I am gone okay."

"CAELUS BE QUICK, ITS GETTING WORSE." Edith yelled at the bottom of the hill.

Caelus gave one more look at his mother's grave. "I will see you later."

The young man ran towards Edith who was running in a slower pace to let Caelus catch up.

"WHY DOES IT HAVE TO RAIN RIGHT NOW." Caelus asked while almost reaching Edith, a big smile was on his face.

"THATS OUR DAMMED LUCK AGAIN." She replied with a grin that should have evaporated the rain around them.

They were now getting close to Jonathan's house. Running was now useless, there was no dry spot that could be saved.

"YOU KNOW, THIS IS NOT HOW IMAGINED HOW MY LAST DAY HERE WOULD END UP LIKE" Caelus yelled, his breathing was heavy and contained. His training did have some result.

"OHW HOW DID YOU IMAGINE IT THAN?"

"WELL I IMAGINED THAT A COMBAT FREAK WOULD FORCE ME FOR ANOTHER SPARRING SESSION" Caelus said, he tried to laugh but it messed with his breathing so he immediately stopped.

"OHW WE ARE BEING FUNNY NOW, ALLRIGHT I THINK I COULD ALSO THROW YOU A JOKE." Edith replied. She turned towards Caelus, she was preparing her body to throw the young man in the bushes infront of Jonathan's house.

But she made one mistake, she forgot that the ground was very slippery because of the rain. Caelus saw Edith's attempt and wanted to stop running, but he kept moving through the slippery dirt underneath his shoes.

Crushhh

Caelus had grabbed Edith to remain standing but this utterly failed. Caelus was now laying on top of a Bush while Edith was laying on top of him.

"Are you allright? " He asked in bewilderment.

"Am I allright? I am completely soaked, there are branches poking through my shirt and you managed to escape one of my throws, ofcourse I am not okay." She looked at him with a serious look.

Caelus stared back with his normal look. Everything was so ridiculous, they realy should be annoyed by what happend, so why were they both laughing now.

"Well I am glad that you didn't fall fully in this Bush, my shirt is completely ruined now." Caelus said while being stuck between Edith and the Bush.

"I think you are happy to Catch a fair lady like me". Edith said.

"A fair lady, where?" Caelus responded.

Than he suddenly felt the pressure on top of him increase.

"Allright than, I'll just make this your punishment for making me wait".

The laughing slowely faded, Caelus couldn't really see her soul in this position but he just knew that it would be filled with sadness. He didn't want her to feel that way.

His right hand moved towards her back, moving it up and down.

"I will make sure to come back okay, weeds don't wither you know." A fake smile on his face.

Edith's face now slowely turning red, her eyes fully focused on his.

"You promise to run right back to us if anything goes wrong." she said in a more timid tone.

"Ofcourse I will come back....." but Edith instantly interrupted him

"promise me."

"Okay okay I promise." He replied.

She than leant more forward. Her hands surrounding the back of his head, her head moving closer and closer towards Caelus head until her lips reached his.

The rain that fell from the sky was supposed to be cold, most people would have wanted to go inside as soon as possible, but there were two who wished to stay outside as long as possible.

The rain, the wind, the Bush, the mud and their clothes were very cold.

But atleast their lips were very warm.
