Finala was going frustration. Her tiny wings thrashed, and her claws, nearly as hard as the finest steel on the continent, raked at a cage forged from Antarium diamond. Not even the highest-level monsters could break that stuff, only the dragon race. The Carter family had made that cage to lock up small flying monsters, the pesky ones that picked off people left and right, and even the occasional dragon hatchling.
And tonight, Etien was using it on Finala, after the chaos she'd caused in his mansion. Every envoy the palace had sent who was still breathing had been hauled off to the infirmary, where the best doctors and healers in Winterbaun were working on them. As for the dead, a letter had already been drafted, ready to fly to the palace as the first word that their mission had failed.
And now Finala was stuck inside that cage, begging to be let out. Panicked. Scared stiff.
"M—My Duke, please, let me out! I don't know anything about the mess today, I swear..."
