The experiment concluded, and the progress was smooth. Afterwards, everyone returned home.
A few days later, Naruto finally finished building the bathtub large enough to hold the Nine-Tails.
The bathtub was oval-shaped, with ergonomic handrails and backrests on both sides suited for a fox's physique. It also had a slot to hold a straw,
for the fox to drink, and a recessed area for a soda cup. The bottom of the tub wasn't entirely solid; there was a circular hollow area for heating water. After all, when taking a bath, who uses cold water?
Sitting on the edge, Naruto patted the Mithril-crafted bathtub, brimming with a sense of accomplishment. "Old Fox, come on."
"This old man doesn't like to move," the Nine-Tails said, holding its soda cup, its attention fixed on a TV drama from the Land of Snow.
Jumping out of the bathtub, Naruto walked to the fox's mouth, standing by its human-height eye. "Stop watching, hurry up. I worked so hard to build this."
This fox had been leaning against the wall for two years without moving. If this weren't a mental world, Naruto would suspect its lower back had already bred maggots.
"It's not like this old man asked you to build it," the Nine-Tails retorted, its red vertical pupils shifting to stare at Naruto. You expect me to go just because you say so? What about my dignity?
"Stop messing around, hurry and get in!" Naruto tugged at the fur by the fox's mouth.
In less than half a second, Naruto nimbly dodged a thick tail. "Are you forcing my hand now?" Naruto decided to use tougher methods, otherwise, this brute might genuinely lean against that wall until he died of old age.
"What do you want?" the Nine-Tails asked. It wasn't that it couldn't move, but based on their years of coexistence and a fox demon's intuition, it just felt Naruto wasn't up to any good.
"I'm going to move you." Naruto cupped his left hand with his right, instantly entering Gold Chakra Mode. Since their fist fight during the chess game,
he had been able to activate this mode whenever he was inside the seal. He couldn't outside, probably because the seal caused too much disturbance to the Nine-Tails' chakra.
It was indeed golden, because this was pure Nine-Tails' chakra, unmixed with his own. He had tested it after his last guess that the golden body would change color; as long as his chakra was mixed in, this golden body... it really would change color!
"Tch." Disdain showed on the fox's face. You? You think you can move this old man?
Naruto circled the fox twice before finding a point of leverage. The fox demon's two hands braced against the ceiling behind him, mentally cheering himself on.
Naruto in Sage Mode could grab a tail and toss the Nine-Tails. Gold Chakra Mode can withstand the Four-Tails' bite force. I'm stronger than him now, so I should be able to move it, right?
"Haa!!" With a mighty roar, Naruto unleashed his full power. This was a force capable of moving mountains and filling seas, shaking the world fierce and immense.
Then... he sank into the flesh.
The Nine-Tails exerted a little force, and Naruto was bounced back out. True 'flesh overcoming steel.'
"Spare your efforts, kid. You want to use this old man's power against this old man?" The Nine-Tails' eyes were full of mockery. "Heh heh."
"Forget it, I'm going to sleep." Naruto lay back on his bed, dejected, pulling up the covers. He pondered whether he should build a pulley system and hoist the Nine-Tails over with chains.
After lying for ten seconds, Naruto threw off the covers.
"What? Want to try again?" the Nine-Tails asked.
Naruto extended a golden chakra hand towards the chessboard. "We didn't play chess today." As long as he wasn't unconscious, he had to play two games of chess every day.
"Come on," the Nine-Tails extended a red chakra claw. "It's this old man's turn to go first today." It had thought he'd forgotten.
Accompanied by occasional mocking remarks, one golden and one red chakra hand alternately manipulated the chess pieces.
The next day, as soon as Naruto opened his eyes, he found the Nine-Tails already settled in the bathtub, leaning back.
"How did you get in?" Naruto asked, carefully observing his surroundings. He actually wanted to ask how the fox got in; there wasn't a single trace around, did it roll in?
"None of your business?" The Nine-Tails said, dangling its straw, then patted a handrail. "Add water." It didn't like lying, but it didn't have to tell the truth. Seeing the brat busying himself for so long to get this ready, it felt like it would be letting him down if it didn't try it out.
"Alrighty!" Naruto's tone changed, filled with joy. Since the fox demon could move on its own, he just had to reap the benefits. He had a clone add water and move the meat pond and soda tower to the side of the bathtub. His main body crawled under the tub to add firewood and coal.
After lighting the fire, Naruto climbed onto the bathtub, looked at the fox in the water, and hummed the theme song to "A Bite of China."
Nine-Tails stewed in an iron pot, selecting only the finest fox. Marinated for ten years with soda poured into its belly. A clear broth, to bring out the ingredient's natural flavor. Simmered slowly over a gentle flame, stewed for forty-nine days before serving.
"This old man senses your malice, burp," the Nine-Tails said, half-submerged in the water, its upper body leaning back, left hand bringing soda to its mouth,
its attention fully on the clone in the Land of Snow. Even if it was fat, the Nine-Tails was a chakra body, so floating on the surface of the water was still very simple.
"How could that be?" Naruto flatly denied, looking down at the fox demon in the water. Indeed, it wasn't just bloated; it was solid. Reaching out to test the water temperature, it was very cold.
The bottom was too thick, and the temperature hadn't risen yet. Naruto turned back to the furnace to build a small bathtub for himself.
It wasn't until past three in the afternoon that the bathtub water finally reached the Nine-Tails' desired temperature. Naruto's small bathtub was also finished and placed on the edge next to the Nine-Tails' head.
Because of the Nine-Tails' size, the edge of its bathtub was nearly three meters thick, leaving more than enough room for a smaller one.
The man and the fox both lay in their bathtubs, exchanged glances, and simultaneously looked up. "Hoo..." This was living.
Outside, Jiraiya looked at Naruto, who was dragging iron, utterly bewildered. You're so exhausted, what's with that sigh? Do you actually find this enjoyable?
After soaking for a while, Naruto, wearing large swimming trunks, jumped onto the fox demon's body and reached out to test the water temperature.
"Aow!" The moment his hand touched the water, Naruto let out a strange cry, blowing on his hand while holding it. Because there were no bubbles or steam in the water, he had logically assumed it couldn't be over 50 degrees Celsius, but he was almost scalded to death.
"How hot is this water?!"
The Nine-Tails, with an expression of pure enjoyment, estimated, "Just about four hundred and seventy or eighty degrees Celsius, I suppose."
Naruto was dumbfounded. Is this mental space cursed or something? Water at over four hundred degrees with no bubbles or steam? Even more bizarre is this fox. Over four hundred degrees, and it says "just about"? So you really aren't afraid of boiling water, huh? Wait, the water isn't even boiling!
Yes, the temperature had already surpassed the critical point of water, yet it remained unboiled. The boiling point of water is related to pressure.
At 225 atmospheres, water's boiling point is 374 degrees Celsius; this temperature is called the critical temperature, and the boiling point cannot go higher regardless of further pressure.
This temperature was indeed not high for the Nine-Tails; it even felt a little low. It was far from the magma ball it was bound to inside Kushina's body.
The flames at the bottom of the bathtub continued to heat, and Naruto periodically asked about the temperature. By the time he dragged Sakura to check on Sasuke, the water temperature had already reached over seven hundred degrees.
It was still that small island. Sasuke lay shirtless on the bed. After Sakura checked him three times, she retracted her hand, satisfied. "No problem." Sasuke got up and dressed, while Sakura smiled at him. This was Sakura's outward demeanor.
In her inner world, on a virtual large bed, a Sasuke doll, with "Sasuke" written on its head, had its bare upper body wrapped in a blanket. Inner Sakura sat on the bedside,
picking her teeth, striking a pose that screamed, "This old lady will take responsibility for you." Naruto watched from a distance, supporting himself on the grass with both hands, giving them their private moment.
Sasuke and Sakura walked and exchanged a few words, then Sasuke placed a hand on Naruto's shoulder. The meaning was clear: he was leaving. Naruto raised his hand to open a portal.
"Wait." Sakura called out, taking out a prepared bag and pulling out two small paper boxes. "These are for you." Sakura smiled sweetly.
"What are these?" Naruto asked, taking the boxes. "Can I open them?" It was impolite to open a gift in front of the giver without asking.
"You can."
After receiving permission, Naruto slowly opened a paper box. The moment he opened a small crack, his hand trembled violently.
