| Gonna shorten Necrohamster to Necro from now on
"S-s-so what happened to the poor little girl?"
"Sigh I thought you did a bunch of research about us, girl?"
That caused the girl to jump a little but the hamster didn't really care much; just swirling the tea in his cup before taking a deep sip. Knowing full well his question would cause that girl to freeze up. This was because she reminded him of his own master - someone who ignores the world as they thought.
Of course the girl in front of him was far more polite and often felt guilty for ignoring the world around her when she was stuck thinking.
Meanwhile the Divine Demon may kill if someone interrupts her.
Nodding his head with a faint smile as he let that cup linger against his lips, letting it rest underneath his nose, as the succulent smell of herbs tickled his nostrils.
"W-we did try to gather as much information as possible but not much is known about those above the demon lords due to no one succeeding in summoning them. In fact, since the last incursion three hundred years ago, some people don't even believe demon lords are real. So those above them…"
"You needn't be shy, girl, we are well aware that our existence is usually in mere rumours."
Placing his cup down with a charming *clack* before he removed his fingers then proceeded to interlock them in front of his chest. Peacefully sitting back in his chair as he studied the girl. The more time he spent with this mortal the more he began to understand why his monarch decided to amuse herself using her.
She had enough curiosity to bravely sit across from an archdemon while quickly throwing away any preconceptions she may have had. All in order to learn as much as she could. He didn't doubt that she likely didn't even hold his words as gospel like many would in her situation.
Likely finding them just another perspective from which she could extrapolate the truth; it also explained how a being like that spirit paid attention to her.
A shared childish desire to feed their curiosity with a maturity to know the truth was often twisted.
"I suppose I should tell you more about the archdemons?"
Just as expected a glittering shimmer filled her eyes as she looked towards him with such vigour that he could practically hear her begging him to tell her.
"Well there were a total of nine but that does not mean they are necessarily the most loyal like in the case of the spirits. Simply put they are the strongest thus more reliable demons within our realm. Those loyal to our creator are obviously me who is the crooked rebirth, Chokin-Bako and Leviathan."
Puffing his chest out in pride as he expressed is complete obedience.
"Should be only obvious that our loyalty should be given as we know the truth; no one else could lead the demons to their great destiny as masters of our own fate. Even our advancements in strength are due to her majestic exaltedness. Even our demonic energy is a result of h-"
Suddenly he stopped mid sentence as if he realised something as an awkward cough soon came from his mouth as he covered her mouth with a fist. That confidence he always had was unable to hide his eyes shifting away from Elizabeth. Clearly hiding something.
It also didn't help that he said enough for her to get a solid guess at what he was about to expose to her.
A secret that could change quite a lot.
"She isn't just the creator of demons but demonic energy?"
Her habit of thinking out loud is clearly still intact.
Hearing her understanding what he let slip made him freeze up even if she seemingly hadn't figured out all there was to it. Still this was connected to a secret that they made sure to keep underwraps. Only his master's most loyal servants could hear whispers of it as it revealed a core mechanic behind their realm.
For some reason a shiver flew down his spine at the thought that his master may have found out what happened here yet he was sure that was quite impossible.
There is no way the girl would rat him out while his mistress was obviously still resting within the confines of her self imposed prison. She made it to negate all forms of magic & energy; including the demonic energy he had nearly leaked the origin of. So there was no way she could be observing him!
Unable to find an answer he just cleared his throat to act natural.
"Demon energy doe- was indeed created from the Divine Demon which is why thoughts of usurping her seem completely absurd to me. Oh and I also forgot there is another archdemon who is loyal. They are a bit of a special case since they aren't actually a demon but gave birth to demons! "
Elizabeth didn't seem to notice or care that her attention was diverted - her eyes lightening up with knowledge that there were so many powerful figures that this world didn't know about. It made her wonder what else this world didn't know about. Possibilities truly being infinite.
"She is probably only behind her exaltedness in strength; being the first and mightiest born from the three supreme bloodlines which earned her the right to marry into the divine demon's brood. With strength came countless titles. But I think the most common…"
Tilting his head as he tapped his chin with one hand as his mind spun through all the countless titles his imprisoned comrade had earned for herself.
A difficult task as she was the most infamous of the demon gods let alone archdemons.
"I think it was Elizabeth the Dreamer?"
Narrowing her eyes as she truly began to understand that everything she knew may as well have been poorly constructed lies.
But that didn't upset her.
It excited her.
Soon a knock occurred on the wooden wall opposite to their "entrance" while the sounds of the countless weapons stored being pilfered through caught their attention. Heavy boots revealed that it certainly wasn't your average merchant doing it, either. Not that the archdemon was concerned.
"We must have arrived at the border city."
"D-did we need to go into the city when we're trying to escape through the border?"
That rodent didn't seem to particularly care about her own concerns; merely taking his cup into hand as he nonchalantly waved away her worries with brief explanations.
"It would be far more suspicious if we avoided it - we are pretending to be war merchants after all. There is no reasonable reason why a merchant, constantly on the road, would avoid the offered comforts of a layoff as extravagant as a city. First question they'd ask our driver would be about his journey, after all."
"But what if they f-find us?"
To that he just shook his head while taking a long sip.
All the while the sounds of the soldiers checking everything within the carriage could clearly be heard in the expanded compartment. Although soon her anxieties were found to be unwarranted. The sound of those soldiers jumping out made the tension leave her shoulders.
"What could a bunch of fools unable to even freely control magic do to find the magic of someone like me who reached a level only surpassed by the greatest sages? In fact the demon realm is obviously much stronger than a stinky mortal realm. Then within that realm I am only beaten by a handful!"
Ranting and raving about how foolish the "mortal" was for underestimating his capabilities as an archdemon who was the fifth strongest mage in the demon realm.
Probably!
She just decided it wasn't worth arguing as she was overly apprehensive for no real reason. His reaction was actually quite fair as there wasn't any way for them to find them unless they had someone with a magic sensing gift of some sort. Yet someone like that likely wouldn't be a gate guard for a random city.
Plus that archdemon probably had incorporated some tricks to prevent magic sensing; especially when he likely cast it with demonic energy rather than mana or divine energy.
"Now we'll need to go out and find you a nice weapon."
"What?"
Her confusion was clear yet he just continued on.
"Even if you don't pick up something due to poor quality we need you to at least get a good idea for what you want to learn."
"But I can just use my fists…"
The look he gave her made her shiver; looking at her as if he were looking at the dumbest thing alive.
"You want to use your fists in front of the Fist Saint's loyal servant…?"
"Fist s-saint?"
"Saint is given to the individual who is the greatest with a certain weapon and that honour, when it comes to fists, can only be given to her exaltedness."
She just blinked blanky while he closed his eyes in silent determination to focus on enjoying his tea.
