Chapter 296: All Show, No Bite?
In the video, inside Cloud City's control room, Sun Zhongjing hurriedly arrived and immediately asked for a status update.
The operators, after rapidly working through their controls, displayed an even more detailed analysis of the golden horned behemoth on the screen.
The data was overwhelming, but to summarize it in one sentence: this creature was extremely dangerous and it seemed to be heading straight for them.
"Destroy it!" Sun Zhongjing commanded. Against such an unknown behemoth, the best course of action was to eliminate it in advance.
"Yes, sir!"
The staff immediately began their operations. More personnel joined in, working at their complex consoles, while soul power surged throughout the room.
"Attempting to lock onto target…"
"…Target locked!"
"Doomsday Cannon charging…"
"…Charge complete!"
"…Ready to fire?"
One of the operators pressed a final key.
The video perspective shifted, giving the audience a macro view of Cloud City itself.
The entire city lit up with a dazzling white glow. Intricate runes appeared on every building, with soul power surging through them, forming a massive network of energy.
A tremendous force began gathering above the city, slowly condensing into a terrifying energy vortex.
The swirling energy continued to concentrate, pulling power from all directions, forming a core firing point at its center.
In truth, Cloud City itself was the weapon.
With its ability to hover in the sky, it could launch attacks anywhere on the planet at will.
At the same time, it could also store energy and fire into deep space.
As the fire command was issued, the vortex of energy erupted.
From the core cannon, a colossal golden beam hundreds of meters in diameter was unleashed, streaking across the vastness of space!
Meanwhile, the golden horned behemoth had just stepped out of the spatial tunnel, gazing at the life rich Douluo Star in the distance.
It had yet to make any moves when suddenly, it saw a thin golden line rapidly approaching!
Compared to its massive body, the golden beam was minuscule barely even noticeable.
The attack struck directly against the scales on its chest yet it failed to pierce through.
Instead, the beam ricocheted off its scales, bending at an angle and shooting off into the distance.
[Are you serious?]
[That's it?!]
[A weapon called the "Doomsday Cannon" sounds terrifying, and the buildup was insane… but in the end, it did nothing.]
[Soul devices will never be a match for raw strength.]
[Exactly… technology is just a tool. Strength is everything.]
The livestream chat was flooded with disappointment. Many viewers had high expectations for the Doomsday Cannon, but seeing it fail to even scratch the behemoth's scales left them completely underwhelmed.
However, they soon realized they had underestimated its true power.
In the video, the deflected golden beam streaked off into the distance.
In its path stood a planet one far larger than Douluo Star.
The beam collided with the planet's surface, and the audience initially expected it to cause nothing more than a small crater.
After all, if it couldn't penetrate the behemoth's scales, how much destruction could it possibly cause?
But they were completely wrong.
Utterly and ridiculously wrong.
The seemingly insignificant golden beam landed on the planet's surface
BOOM!!!!!
Though sound couldn't travel in space, every viewer could imagine the deafening explosion in their minds.
The entire planet, much larger than Douluo Star, was instantly obliterated, erupting into a cosmic firework display.
If such firepower had been unleashed on Douluo Star…
HISS!!!
A collective gasp filled the livestream chat.
So this was how soul technology had evolved in the future?
This level of destruction was absolutely terrifying!
Reality – The Divine Realm
The five God Kings were equally shocked by the raw destructive power of the Doomsday Cannon.
"What a terrifying weapon… I never imagined mortals could create something like this," the God of Asura murmured, still shaken.
"Indeed. We have always known that mortals sometimes develop weapons that could threaten gods… but never did I expect them to be this powerful," the God of Evil admitted.
"If the so called 'Doomsday Cannon' were to be fired at the Divine Realm… even if we managed to withstand it, we would suffer severe losses," the Goddess of Life sighed.
"This is precisely why we have always forbidden the lower realms from developing such technological weapons," the God of Destruction interjected. "In the past, when Douluo Continent first began advancing in soul technology, we sent envoys to eradicate it. We thought we had destroyed all traces of it but apparently, some escaped our control."
"If we hadn't intervened back then, the scene in this video might have become reality thousands of years earlier," the God of Evil added uneasily.
Science and magic had always been opposed to one another.
The Divine Realm was bound to the laws of magic it could not integrate science like Douluo Star could.
Because of this fundamental limitation, they feared the potential of science… and thus, they strictly prohibited its development in all lower worlds.
But now, they were powerless to stop what had already spiraled beyond their control.
All they could do was watch helplessly.
[Holy… this power is insane!]
[If we had this kind of soul device during the Abyssal invasion, what would we have had to fear?!]
[Not necessarily… the Doomsday Cannon is strong enough to destroy planets, but whether it could harm Creator God level beings is another question.]
[Exactly look at the golden horned behemoth. It's at the God King level, and it just shrugged off an attack that could destroy entire planets.]
[That's a good point…]
The livestream exploded with discussion.
Meanwhile, in the video
Sun Zhongjing's expression darkened upon seeing that the Doomsday Cannon had failed to break through the behemoth's scales.
This was a serious problem.
"…Notify the others immediately. Emergency meeting NOW!"
"Yes, sir!"
The staff hurriedly relayed the message.
Soon, inside a large conference room, all the familiar faces of the past reappeared
Sun Zhongjing sat at the head of the table.
Across from him were Neptune, the Silver Dragon King, Zhu Zhuqing, Qian Renxue, Bibi Dong, Hu Liena, Shui Bing'er, Huo Wu, and many more.
But these were not the same people they once were.
Their strength had already transcended the limits of ordinary gods
They were no longer just newly ascended deities.
They had become true powerhouses of the divine.
