Diana Bladeheart
"What the fuck do you think you're doing, assholes?" This startled me. I looked at the entrance of the alley to see Isaac there. "You think that I would just let you put your grubby little hands on my Diana and escape alive?" His voice carried so much fury.
"And who are you to threaten us? I'm the third son of the proud and prestigious…" He was interrupted by a punch to his face and sent flying, hit the wall and went unconscious.
"What are you doing? Are you insane?" one of the other men shouted. "Our families will tear you limb from limb for what you've done!" This stopped Isaac for a moment. Seeing Isaac stop, the guy got cocky. "If you beg for forgiveness now and let us play with your girl a bit we might let this slide. Besides, it will be an honor for someone like her!"
"And start punching yourself until you bleed, you commoner pig!" The other interjected.
It seems that Isaac finally understood that he can't win this fight with brawn alone. He should just give up. Although… It is nice that he came trying to save me. "Adam, just do what they say, I'll be fine, don't worry."
This seemed to push Isaac into an even bigger rage. "I don't care about your families, maggots! You'll die here and now, so they won't help you! And even if somehow they do find out, I'll deal with them too. As for you, you'll be dead long before then!"
He charged with murderous intent. The guy in the front pulled out a dagger and tried defending, but Isaac shattered it with a punch, sending shards flying. The now defenseless noble tried protecting his face with his hands, but received a blow to his abdomen so powerful that a crack could be heard. He went unconscious.
The third guy dropped on his but and begged for mercy while pissing himself and got stomped on his face until he lost consciousness. "What a pathetic group of trash…" Isaac added with a humph. "Now then, let's have some fun." I couldn't see Isaac's face, but I felt the rage boiling in him. If I didn't stop him now, those three would die.
"I-isaac, that's enough! Don't you understand the trouble that you've caused? Because of you we'll both suffer!"
"We won't if they all die."
"Are you ready to kill a human, then?"
"Are you saying that these trash deserve to live?"
"I'm asking if you can morally kill a person? Are you prepared to live with that for the rest of your life?"
Isaac thought for a moment. "I have no choice, there's no other way for us."
"I'll… Go to their families and beg for forgiveness and you will get out of the city."
"That's bullshit! They are the ones in the wrong. I won't allow it! There's no predicting what they might do to you."
"That's the only way! If only you hadn't interfered, things might have gone differently..." I started tearing up.
"Couldn't allow that to happen. Not ever, not in a million years."
"What? Would it really be so bad being with a girl that was… Raped?! Would it have dropped my value in your eyes that much?! He stayed silent. "Answer me, god damn it!"
Isaac stayed silent for a minute, then finally said. "I… Just don't want to see you sad… Ever. I don't know why, but when I think about you being sad for any reason, my chest hurts. It's unbearable." He slowly approached and hugged me, then asked. "Are you really okay with us separating like this? Because I'm not."
I started crying. "What I want doesn't matter now, there's no other way!"
He kept talking. "Look, I might be a bad boyfriend and a shitty human that's bad at doing human things. I'm dense, I don't know how to act around you, but if you give me a chance, I promise to do my best to live up to your expectations. I really am trying, but it's not as easy as I'd like it to be." He thought for a moment, still embracing me. "There is a way out of this mess for us without killing them. I'll wipe their memories clean with 'Black' magic. I haven't done this before, but it should be fine… For the most part, that is."
"You… Can do that?" I ray of hope shone in my life. If it's really possible, then we might still be able to be together.
"I haven't tried it before, but, theoretically, I do have the power to do it. It will take some trial and error, but I'm confident that if I try, and believe me I will, we can pull this off."
I composed myself. "OK, let's try it. Just tell me what to do."
He looked uneasy for a moment and then spoke. "We'll need to tie and gag them before they come to it and for that… We'll need to rip your new dresses up to make some rope… Look, I really am sorry, I know how much you wanted to have something like it, but there's no other way. I promise, I'll get you more. That is…" He scratched the back of his head. "If you still want to go out shopping with me…" Then he quickly added. "If not, I promise you that I'll compensate you for the dresses in gold."
This made me laugh. "Do you really think that I'd get upset about something so trivial?"
"But, I thought that you really liked them."
"Then you'll just have to buy me more on our next date. You do remember that you promised me more dates, right?"
"Then… Do you forgive me?"
"Not yet. You will first have to tell me what you like about me and this time, no cheating, no going to my sister for advice. It has to come from you."
"You know that you're asking for something impossible right?"
"Then, is there really nothing about me that you like, or are you ready to give up? Give up on our relationship and me?"
"Not a chance. Just… Give me some time, I have to get my thoughts in order. How does three months sound?"
"You have until dusk."
"Slave driver."
It took us several hours and two of my new dresses to erase their memories. To my surprise, Isaac didn't stop trying for the whole time, he didn't even take a break. Finally, when the sun was reaching the horizon, Isaac seemed to get the hang of his power and, after placing his hand on the struggling noble's head, the noble stopped moving and resisting. With a blank look on his face, the noble just sat there, obeying every command. The same was done to the rest.
After finishing the job and untying the nobles, we quickly vacated the area to drop suspicion and headed for the town square. We found a secluded bench and took a seat. We were exhausted, and on edge, wondering if anyone had seen us.
"I still can't believe that you have the power to erase someone's memories… Let's hope that you don't have to do that ever again, since it's a really terrifying power. If someone finds out, you might get into trouble."
Isaac scratched the back of his head. "Well, about that…"
"What? You weren't successful? Then… Does that mean that all that effort went to waste? Do we really have to separate after all that?"
"Erasing someone's memories is a pain in the ass. It takes a lot of time and precision. I kinda, sorta… Destroyed their minds… That was quicker. Sorry for not telling you in advance."
"What do you mean by that?" I was taken it back.
"It's like destroying their egos, from now on, they won't have a will of their own and will spend the rest of their pathetic, miserable lives following orders. It's a fitting punishment for them, in my opinion."
"It's not a punishment, admit it, you were just lazy and picked the easiest way out, didn't you. Besides, it doesn't sound any different than killing them."
"Their hearts still beat, so they're alive. It's just their minds that aren't there anymore."
"You really scare me sometimes…" I smiled. The sun was getting low. "It's almost time, you do remember what you have to tell me before sunset, right?"
"Crap… I totally forgot. I was busy all this time breaking people's minds, so there was no time to think. Can I get a few extra days?"
I smiled. "Your time is running out."
Isaac sat in silence. I could see the gears in his head spinning, until he finally spoke. "It's your smile - unlike the smile of that psychotic sister of yours, your smile is always so warm and gentle. It's your overflowing kindness and gentleness, your passion and…"
"And what?"
"Your boobs - they're very soft…" The slap Isaac received was almost powerful enough to take his head off.
I smiled. "Well, at least you're honest now."
"Then… Do you forgive me?"
"Lift up your mask a bit."
"Why?"
"Just do it!"
"OK, OK… No need to shout." He lifted up his mask a bit and I kissed him.
I smiled and said. "you're forgiven."
We spent the rest of the day just walking around the upper city holding hands. We didn't talk much, but if we spoke, it was meaningful since it came straight from the heart. Finally, when the sun finally set, we went back home. Isaac, like a real gentleman, walked me back to my inn and we said goodbye at the door.
My sister was already waiting for me in the room, ready to ask a million questions and I just plopped in bed, hugged my pillow and, with a smile, already imagined our next date. This was my first actual date… Who knew that it could be so much fun!
