"But how do we leave?" Xiao Han looked at Ye Chen with some hesitation. The detention center was heavily guarded, and it wouldn't be easy for them to escape.
"Just watch me for a while and act accordingly," Ye Chen replied. He walked directly to the door and began to observe the situation of the police officers patrolling the corridor through the window. After careful observation, Ye Chen discovered that the police officers inspected the corridor every fifteen minutes. That would be their opportunity!
"Officer! Officer!" Once the police entered the corridor, Ye Chen knocked on the door frame repeatedly, trying to attract their attention.
"What's wrong?" The patrolling policeman walked over to the door where Ye Chen was being held, opened it, and asked with a frown, clearly displeased with the commotion.
"Officer, my brother is dying! Can you write a note to send him to the hospital? He has a heart attack!" Ye Chen pointed to Xiao Han, who was lying on the armchair behind him, his eyes rolling back, and his whole body twitching.
"Heart attack?" The patrolling policeman frowned but didn't say much. He approached Xiao Han to check on him.
"Boy, how are you? Is it serious?" The police officer reached out and patted Xiao Han's shoulder, inquiring tentatively. Xiao Han didn't respond; his eyes remained rolled back, making it seem like he might pass out at any moment.
Taking advantage of the officer's distraction, Ye Chen quietly approached and elbowed the policeman, knocking him out cold. He quickly took the key to the handcuffs from the officer and freed himself.
After accomplishing that, Ye Chen removed the policeman's uniform and donned it himself. He then led Xiao Han out of the room. It was noon, and many police officers on duty had gone to eat, leaving the hall relatively empty. Moreover, with Ye Chen disguised in the officer's uniform and keeping his head down, they managed to leave without being recognized.
Once outside the detention center, Ye Chen and Xiao Han walked through several alleys until they reached a secluded corner without surveillance. Ye Chen then discarded the police uniform and threw it into a nearby trash bin.
"Where does your master live?" Ye Chen took a deep breath and looked at Xiao Han.
"Baiyun Mountain in Jiangzhou Province is near Jiangbei City and Tianhai City, about 200 kilometers from here," Xiao Han said, glancing toward the southeast.
"Baiyun Mountain..." Hearing this, Ye Chen pondered for a moment. He was somewhat familiar with Baiyun Mountain. Its ecological environment is harsh, with dense forests filled with numerous poisonous snakes, ants, and beasts. Due to its unique geography, Baiyun Mountain lacked the tourist attractions found in other mountain ranges. The terrain was steep and sparsely populated.
"If we go there to avoid the limelight, it might actually be a good place," Ye Chen concluded. "Let's head to the suburbs first, leave the city, and then make our way to Baiyun Mountain." He looked up at the sun overhead and led Xiao Han toward the eastern suburbs.
It wasn't feasible to take a taxi now, so they walked while avoiding intersections with cameras. Since both of them were Anjin warriors with excellent physical fitness, they didn't feel too tired.
Detention Facility
Meanwhile, at the detention facility, the police officer regained consciousness and was dumbfounded to find the room empty. He hadn't expected to be tricked by Ye Chen and Xiao Han.
The officer hurried out of the room and rushed to Mu Xiaoyao's office. "Captain, it's not good..."
Ignoring the need to knock, he burst into the office, looking at Mu Xiaoyao with a panicked expression.
"What's wrong? Did something happen?" Mu Xiaoyao asked, frowning as a bad feeling crept over her.
"Ye Chen... Ye Chen and Xiao Han have escaped!"
"What?" Mu Xiaoyao stood up from her chair, looking bewildered. "Aren't those two locked up securely?"
"I was on patrol when Ye Chen said that Xiao Han had a heart attack and wasn't feeling well. When I went in to check, he knocked me out and used my keys to unlock the handcuffs."
The policeman lowered his head, ashamed, unable to meet Mu Xiaoyao's gaze as he admitted his failure.
"What an idiot!" Mu Xiaoyao cursed, disappointment flooding her. Taking a deep breath, she tried to suppress her anger and asked, "When did they escape?"
"About two hours ago..."
"Then no one noticed their absence?" Mu Xiaoyao's expression darkened. The two had managed to escape in broad daylight. Where did that leave her?
"All my colleagues had gone to eat. There weren't many people in the hall, and Ye Chen even took my uniform," the policeman explained, his voice full of regret.
Ignoring his words, Mu Xiaoyao left her office, heading toward the monitoring room. With the escapees on the loose, the priority was to catch them quickly. Any punishment for the officer's negligence would be dealt with later.
