Chapter 1 - Just the beginning

---

In the bustling streets of Dragon City, where the skyline pierced the clouds and the neon lights bathed the concrete jungle in filled with multiple different colors , Eli moved like one of millions, trying to make ends meet. The city was unforgiving, a city of chaos and opportunity that only the lucky or the ruthless could conquer. Eli was neither; he was simply trying to survive.

His apartment, a grimy room in a crumbling building, barely offered space to sleep, let alone dream. Eli had long given up hope of ever escaping his circumstances. His father had passed away when he was just seven, and his mother had raised him alone. Now, she was in a coma, her life hanging by a thread. The medical bills were mounting, and Eli was struggling to cover them. Friends and relatives had helped initially, but the money soon ran out, and Eli had been forced to abandon his dream of going to university to work two jobs—just to keep his mother in the hospital.

Today, though, felt like a breaking point.

Eli's first job was washing dishes at a local restaurant. It was grueling work, but it paid enough to cover a few bills. That was, until one of his coworkers decided to play a prank on him. The shock of the prank caused him to drop a stack of dishes, shattering them on the floor. His manager, unsympathetic to his explanation, informed him that he wouldn't receive the 150-yuan bonus he had been counting on at the end of the month.

But that wasn't even the worst part of the day. During his lunch break, he received a call from the hospital. The doctor's voice was grave: "Your mother's condition is worsening. If she doesn't undergo surgery within the next six months, it's unlikely she'll survive. And, we'll need to increase the cost of her care to 4,500 yuan per month."

Eli's heart sank.

On his way home at 6:45 p.m., en route to his second job as a delivery driver, Eli paused on a bridge overlooking the city. The neon lights flickered like distant stars, a testament to a city where dreams could be realized—if you were lucky enough. Eli stared at the ocean below, the weight of his troubles bearing down on him. He sighed deeply, trying to shake off the gloom, before heading home to get ready for his second shift.

The rain began to pour just as he started his deliveries. "Just my luck," Eli muttered to himself, struggling through the storm with a heavy bag of takeout. But then, something strange happened. A low, mechanical hum filled the air, and a bright light enveloped him. Eli froze, looking around, but no one else seemed to notice the bizarre phenomenon. With a shrug, he went on with his work.

By the time he returned home, it was around 2 a.m. He collapsed into bed, exhausted, but before sleep could fully take him, he saw a holographic message floating in his mind: **SIGN IN SYSTEM**. Eli, too tired to fully process it, fell asleep, and when he awoke at 6:30 a.m. the next morning, the strange message was still in his mind. He couldn't shake the feeling that something extraordinary had just happened.

He decided to test it. Speaking the word "system" in his mind, the message reappeared:

**HOST NAME**: ELI

**HOST STATUS**: POVERTY STRICKEN

**RELATIONSHIP STATUS**: NONE

**LEVEL**: ONE

**MONETARY VALUE**: 360 YUAN

**ASSET VALUE**: 230 YUAN

**SAY THE WORD "SIGN IN" TO RECEIVE 10,000 YUAN EVERY DAY.**

Eli stared at the text in disbelief. Could this be real? His pulse quickened as he whispered the words "Sign in" under his breath.

Seconds later, his phone buzzed. A notification from Eastern Capital Bank flashed on the screen, reading: "Your account ending in 098 has been credited with 10,000 yuan." His hands trembled as he opened the bank app. There, in black and white, was the proof: 10,000 yuan had been deposited into his account.

Stunned, Eli calculated what this would mean for him. 10,000 yuan every day—310,000 yuan a month. In just 37 days, he could afford his mother's surgery without touching the rest of his earnings. It was more money than Eli had ever dreamed of, and he knew he had to save it for his mother.

The first thing he did was send 9,000 yuan to the hospital, covering two months of his mother's treatment. He waited, anxiety clawing at his chest. Moments later, his phone rang.

"Thank you for your payment. Your family's treatment has been covered for the next two months."

Eli could hardly contain his joy. He dropped his phone in shock and leapt into the air, a victory cry escaping his lips. His neighbor, startled by the noise, banged on the door, shouting, "Who's keeping a crow in there?" But Eli didn't care. He had done it. For the first time in years, there was hope.

And this was only the beginning.
