The swordsmanship he learned was Okita's Tennen Rishin-ryū, so ideally, he would prefer a tachi-style weapon. While the Sword of the Black Furnace was undoubtedly powerful, its broad blade might actually hinder his swordsmanship.
"This is just the Sword of the Black Furnace's initial memory mode. If you want a blade that suits your preferences, you can adjust it yourself—just let the sword record the changes anew."
Claudia stepped forward, her face lighting up with a congratulatory smile for Roy.
"This depends on your fine control over prana, which should be child's play for you."
"Is that so?"
Roy raised an eyebrow and channeled astral power back into the Sword of the Black Furnace.
Immediately, as if manipulating his own arm, the sword obediently yielded to his adjustments. The massive luminous blade shrank, mana particles recondensed, and even the hilt's structure reformed. Within mere seconds, it transformed into a tachi-style Orga Lux.
"Incredible! Even I didn't expect you to adjust it into a new mode on the spot!"
Claudia couldn't help but marvel at the sight.
Roy, however, remained calm. Controlling astral power was as effortless for him as manipulating magical energy—practically second nature—unlike the Genestellars of this world, who struggled with it.
But this would inevitably lead to a new problem.
Orga Lux weapons, after all, were activated by prana channeled into mana crystals, absorbing ambient mana particles to form their luminous blades.
Yet mana particles were a unique element exclusive to this world.
In fact, they existed only on this world's Earth. Scientists had long confirmed that outer space contained no trace of mana particles. Thus, whether witches, magicians, or Orga Lux weapons, they all became utterly useless once in space.
So, if Roy took the Sword of the Black Furnace back to the Type-Moon world, where mana particles didn't exist, would it still retain its power?
Theoretically, it was outright impossible.
In an environment devoid of mana particles, even a Pure Orga Lux would be worthless.
But if the wielder was Roy, things might be different.
After all, he possessed a unique ability to adapt to rules. His magical energy had already acclimated to astral power, and even Utaha and Hayasaka had developed Magic Circuits.
Could the Sword of the Black Furnace, with his help, adapt to otherworldly elements like magical energy?
Even if the sword could, like a person, adjust to different world rules with his assistance, Roy would still need to actively supply it—
"Wait, would that mean... pleasuring the sword? Ugh!"
Roy shuddered at the mental image, finding it utterly cringe-worthy.
Never mind. There was no need to dwell on this now—he wasn't going back anytime soon!
Future problems could wait for the future.
"How's your hand? Does it need treatment?"
Claudia approached Roy, her concerned gaze falling on his sword-wielding right hand.
"Hm? Ah, it's fine now."
Snapping out of his thoughts, Roy reverted the Sword of the Black Furnace to its inactive form and showed his palm.
It was as fair and unblemished as ever, without a single trace of burns.
"Did you... heal it with your ability?"
Claudia's eyes widened in disbelief as she stared at Roy.
"Since we met in person, I haven't seen you make that expression very often!"
Roy smiled at Claudia with a hint of teasing in his eyes.
"This is truly something incredible!"
Claudia couldn't help but roll her eyes.
"Witches and magicians usually only possess one type of ability. Although there's something called an 'omnipotent' ability, it still can't accomplish things like healing. That's unique to healers, which is why they're so precious!"
Among the Genestellar, there are some with healing abilities. These individuals are extremely valuable, and corporations typically wouldn't send them to battlefields. Their futures are secure - once discovered, they're sent to medical institutions and protected like rare pandas.
Roy's abilities included fire manipulation, barrier creation, and now healing. This diverse range of powers made even Claudia find it hard to believe.
"Don't worry about it. As long as you stay by my side, you'll keep witnessing more and more incredible things!"
Roy waved his hand dismissively, clearly trying to brush the matter aside.
His runes could indeed be called omnipotent, but the healing actually came from Tiamat's body modification abilities.
The body modification abilities inherited from Tiamat were extraordinarily powerful. Not only could they heal simple burns, but even if his heart were ripped out, he could regenerate a new one. With this level of recovery, unless an enemy could knock him unconscious with a single strike, they couldn't truly kill him.
Since Roy wasn't willing to explain, Claudia could only sigh and rub her temples.
After registering his information at the Equipment Bureau, Roy officially became the third known wielder of the Sword of the Black Furnace in over a decade. He placed the sword in its sheath at his waist and left the bureau.
"The Sword of the Black Furnace is incredibly powerful. But since your compatibility with it hasn't reached 100%, that means you can't fully utilize all its power yet. You'll need to communicate more with the sword."
As they walked away from the Equipment Bureau, Claudia gave Roy this advice.
The compatibility rate between a Genestellar and an Orga Lux doesn't just represent the weapon's approval of its wielder, but also how much power it's willing to lend.
A 99% compatibility rate meant the Sword of the Black Furnace was willing to lend Roy 99% of its power.
But to borrow its full power, Roy would need to work on communicating with the sword, building rapport until it fully recognized him and reached 100% compatibility.
"Is there a way to talk with this sword?"
Roy's eyes lit up at the thought. If there was a way to communicate, wouldn't that open up many possibilities?
"Unfortunately, no."
Claudia couldn't help but chuckle as she spread her hands.
"Modern humans have no means to converse with Orga Lux weapons. We can only passively receive their emotions and bear the costs of wielding them... But starting with 99% compatibility means the Sword of the Black Furnace already thinks highly of you. With some effort, you'll surely gain its complete recognition!"
As she spoke, Claudia's expression gradually grew more complex.
Her slender white hand rested on the sheath at her waist, which held her own Orga Lux, Pan-Dora.
"Is your dream the price?"
Roy noticed her unusual expression and followed her gaze to the twin swords at her waist.
The first time he met Claudia had been within her dreams.
After arriving in this world, Roy remembered - Claudia's Orga Lux Pan-Dora had an extremely malicious personality, enjoying making its wielder repeatedly experience death in dreams.
The power of a pure Orga Lux was immense, but the price was equally great.
