Chapter 5 - Jump City

4 months later...

It's been 4 months since my rebirth. You can say that nothing really interesting happened during this time, apart from my parents' divorce process.

Well, in this case my mother and my uncle, since my real father is my father's brother who was my mother's lover. A complicated situation, and I never expected to become the center of such a situation.

Well, what happened during these 4 months was a spiral of drama and going to court, but I'll try to summarize as much as I can.

After what happened at the hospital, my mother and I stayed a few more days there while she recovered from childbirth before returning home, only to find her belongings inside boxes on the sidewalk and the locks changed.

After crying at the door and trying to call David for some time, my mother just took her car keys that were in one of the boxes and we went to my mother's friend's house, who let us stay there for a few days.

This friend, Jennifer, was my mother's best friend since high school and welcomed us into her house without asking for anything in return. She lived alone and as her house was very big, she offered us her guest room.

Jennifer also explained to me that during the time my mother was in the hospital, David officially filed for divorce and spread the story of my mother's betrayal to the whole family.

From what she explained, my father had already suspected the betrayal since last year, so he paid a private detective to investigate it and gather evidence.

At first, he wanted a peaceful divorce. They would separate, each one would take what was his and she could still see the children. He wanted to solve it in an adult and balanced way, in order to avoid being too affected by the situation. But after finding out that she had gotten pregnant with his brother, she decided that she would take it as deep as she could.

I must say, intelligent movement. She knew that if she tried to confront directly, my mother would eventually deny and accuse him of not trusting her, so she waited, investigated and gathered evidence little by little so that neither she nor the court could deny it.

You hardly find people smart like that these days.

Anyway, after discovering this, my mother started contacting her family members to try to get help. He knew he wouldn't get anything with David's family, so he went to look for her family.

For her bad luck, most of her family members had already blocked her in everything and the few who didn't block expressed with words that I'd rather not say as they wouldn't help her at all and that she would have to get by on her own in court.

Even her own mother said she felt disgusted to have raised a daughter so shameless to the point of cheating on her husband and hiding it for so long before hanging up on her face.

When he saw that his own family had turned their backs on him, he tried to call his lover, my father, to try to get some support from him. But he never answered.

My father, Bernard, was a mechanic who was dying of envy of his brother who worked in one of the largest companies in the world and related to my mother to prove to himself that he was better than his brother by stealing his wife.

It turns out that after some threats he received from his family, he discreetly ran away from the city and just left a message to my mother calling her many different names and saying that she was on her own now.

My mother had a complete collapse when she realized that she had not only been abandoned by everyone around her, but also that she would soon be in court having to deal with David and his evidence. Jennifer was the only person who was there to comfort her at that moment.

The first trip to court was to decide whether or not David would pay child support for me.

He went with his best suit, entering with a young lawyer wearing formal clothes, while my mother went with a crumpled dress and the cheapest lawyer she could find.

After showing the evidence of infidelity and a DNA test proving that I was not his son, the judge decided that David would not pay any kind of financial support, so my mother would have to raise me on her own.

Her lawyer tried to contest, but with the evidence in front of everyone, he got nothing.

The second trip was to define who would stay with the children, in this case, my half-brothers.

Sarah, 7 years old, Logan and Lucy, the 5-year-old twins and Daniel, the 2-year-old baby and David's last biological son, since my mother started cheating on him a few months after having Daniel.

After listening to the children's opinion and making a psychological and financial analysis of both relatives, it was decided that my father would have full custody and that I could visit the children, if I had David's authorization. As for me, my father refused to have custody of me, so I was totally in my mother's care.

David worked in a multinational company called LexCorp and earned much more than dozens of people around the country. My mother, on the other hand, was a doctor at the city hospital, who even though she didn't earn as much as David, still earned a good amount.

The reason why David stayed with my brothers is that my mother is a person with a long history of panic attacks, anxiety and some traces of narcissism. This, along with the evidence of infidelity, made the judge consider an inadequate relative.

The last visit was to do the separation of goods.

David kept the house, the car, his savings and everything he had before the wedding, while my mother kept her few belongings, her savings and her car.

After all this legal process, my mother was destroyed. She had lost her children, her house, her husband and her lover, in addition to having been abandoned by her family and friends, apart from Jennifer of course.

Her body began to produce less milk due to stress, making it difficult for her to feed me, and her crises began to become more frequent, which made her start taking medicine.

Along with that, his reputation in the city was destroyed. Her colleagues walked away from her, people whispered whenever she passed by and always received unfriendly looks wherever she went.

She reached a point where she began to receive threats, suspicious packages with unpleasant content inside and attempted doxxing, which only made her anxiety worse.

To escape all these problems and try to save some of her mental health, she took the things we had and left the city, abandoning her computer, phone and finally returning her wedding ring to David before leaving.

And that brings us to where I am now, Jump City, a city I've never heard of, but it's better than the old one, which I think was called Coast City.

When we arrived, my mother rented a small apartment in the city center, applied and was accepted as a doctor at the downtown hospital and slowly began to get better away from all those problems.

She started taking less medicine, her crises decreased and she started to be able to sleep more than just 4 hours during the night, that's when she's not taking care of me.

There are still many strange things around me and many problems that I will still have to face in the future, but for now, I know that everything is calm and I can relax with it.

Well, there's not much I can do anyway, I'm just a baby.
