That night, Shen He experienced a rare bout of insomnia, his mind buzzing with an endless flow of thoughts. In hindsight, he realized he had often chosen convoluted strategies to deal with extraterrestrial threats instead of relying on the sheer overwhelming strength he possessed, perhaps as an unconscious way to keep himself grounded. He feared what unchecked power could do to his mind—how it might change him—having seen enough stories of protagonists losing themselves to arrogance and becoming the kind of people he despised in fiction. Deep down, he was afraid that wielding such power would make him lose his humanity.

Joan said nothing that night, simply lying beside him in his arms as she always did. Though not one to read emotions like a clairvoyant, as his lover Jeanne knew when to speak and when silence was the better comfort. When the first golden beam of morning sunlight filtered through the windows, Shen He finally exhaled long and deep. "Good morning, Master," Jeanne whispered, her cheeks tinged with a shy blush as she leaned in to gently kiss him on the lips—his one daily request. "Good morning, Jeanne," he replied, sitting up and stretching his arms. Though he hadn't slept at all, his mind felt oddly refreshed.

"What would you like for breakfast today, Master?" Jeanne asked, wrapping the quilt around herself and slipping into her pajamas before turning her head slightly toward him. "Hmm… I'm in the mood for fried dough sticks and soy milk," Shen He answered after a moment's thought. Jeanne, brushing her long silver hair with a wooden comb, remarked that Erina wouldn't be thrilled to make such a "plain" breakfast, to which Shen He chuckled, telling her she should make it instead since there was a unique comfort in ordinary food that Erina had yet to master. Jeanne puffed her cheeks, raising a tiny fist in mock protest, warning him not to say it tasted bad. He smiled in anticipation, assuring her it would be a breakfast made with love. Though nothing was said about his turbulent thoughts from the night before, both were aware that something had shifted, and even those around them would sense it—because Shen He now wore a faint, unreadable smile that wasn't quite his usual.

When he reached his office, he found a woman exiting. "You are…?" he asked in mild surprise. "Georgia David, sir. Your secretary," she replied with professional poise. Shen He recalled she was the one placing documents in his office daily, and Georgia dryly added, "And your coffee, sir." Normally he didn't arrive this early, and most communications occurred via the internal command network, so this was their first face-to-face meeting. He thanked her, then paused at the doorway to request green tea instead of coffee, admitting he had never gotten used to its taste. Georgia nodded with a pleased expression; at least now she had made an impression.

At his desk, Shen He found neatly organized documents—most being intelligence reports from Chaldea's field agents and informants. Lately, much attention focused on the global reaction to two major tech developments: virtual sleeper pods and the increasing deployment of war drones. It was clear that some international entities were testing boundaries, using China as a proxy for provocation. Not every nation was willing to arm civilians even under strict regulations, so China's proactive stance must have been motivated by concessions or promises behind closed doors. Shen He pondered this, then instructed Jarvis to tag the file with "No Response." Yesterday, he might have considered a political counter-play to fracture the world's power balance, but today he felt it unnecessary; responding to bait would only legitimize it.

The next file froze him in place—the materials required to build the Sky Garden had all been gathered. Such was the advantage of strength; if he had attempted this alone, as Amakusa Shirou had in the past, it would have taken decades. He ordered the materials stored in the East Warehouse with drone guards assigned, then requested Semiramis to inspect the inventory, though it wasn't yet time to deploy the Sky Garden. The following file was an application from the U.S. government requesting custody and interrogation rights over the captured Chitauri leader, using legal justifications about Chaldea lacking jurisdiction over alien entities. Shen He smirked and typed "Request Denied." He no longer cared for the so-called law; Chaldea was meant to exist outside the rules of this world.

However, the incident sparked an idea. He dictated a public statement claiming that the captured Chitauri leader had revealed the Kree—an ancient, warlike civilization known across the galaxy—had visited Earth thousands of years ago, and that during their attack on Black Bolt, the conflict drew upon ancient Kree relics left behind on the planet. This message would be refined by the public relations team. Tony Stark had designed Chaldea's entire internal system, with Jarvis handling every instruction, decision, and security protocol, and Shen He now clearly saw how indispensable having one's own A.I. truly was.

With each command from his office, Chaldea's wheels turned. The first major disclosure was regarding the Black Bolt Incident, and this time the full truth was revealed. Shen He had authorized a strike team to breach a government-seized experimental facility and release video evidence of Project Resurrection, a dark experiment involving alien corpses and memory erasure. Identities were redacted, but the content—reanimating dead agents, inducing psychological trauma, and showing subjects screaming on the operating table—was chilling, especially knowing these victims had once been colleagues and friends. Even Chaldea's own agents were horrified, and if not for Coulson's current mission investigating Kree ruins, many might have openly revolted.

The public's reaction was mixed. The project's goal was noble—reviving dead agents—and most revived individuals lived normal lives, unaware of their pasts, with only Hiram regaining his memories. Yet the ethical question lingered: should the will of an individual be sacrificed to save others? Coupled with the symbols, relics, and alien connections, global attention shifted fully toward extraterrestrials. After the Chitauri invasion, humanity's wary hatred toward alien races deepened, and learning that the Kree had once visited Earth only fueled that fear.

Anticipating the inevitable question of whether they might return, Chaldea released a second statement based on intelligence from the captured Chitauri, describing the Kree as powerful, ruthless, and obsessed with conquest, as well as allies of Thanos. Instead of chaos, the world fell into a stunned silence that turned to confusion, then fear. People began asking whether humanity could survive in such a galaxy, and whether Chaldea could protect them. The societal psyche began to crack; the shift from apex predator to prey was too sudden. Depression, uncertainty, and fatalism spread until governments scrambled to stabilize the mood through speeches, campaigns, and the tools of the information age. Gradually, fear gave way to reflection, and people clung more tightly to loved ones, valuing beauty and simplicity, as spiritual resilience began to take root.

Yet criminals and extremists grew bolder, some embracing the belief that the apocalypse had arrived. Chaldea's security forces were stretched thin as violence flared worldwide, but Shen He did nothing. The elite often withheld information for "the greater good," knowing the masses couldn't change the outcome anyway, and unlike past rulers, he had no illusions about the necessity of ignorance. He had plans of his own.

On the third day, Coulson reported that the Kree ruins had been found, exactly as Shen He had predicted—one artifact had led to another. He instructed that the location be made public, and when Coulson cautioned that the ruins were dangerous and three agents were missing inside, Shen He ordered the announcement to include a warning, the area sealed under Chaldea's authority, and Yihuantong and Misaka Mikoto Alter dispatched. He also ordered Semiramis to begin constructing the Sky Garden. The countdown had begun.

The discovery of actual Kree ruins was not just another story—it was a catalyst. From common citizens to heads of state, all eyes turned to them. A single corpse could bring someone back to life—what secrets would an entire alien city hold? And thus, countless forces, both seen and unseen, began to move. Toward the ruins. Toward the truth. Toward the future.
