In the Academy, every cadet was focused on strengthening their combat prowess. Even Maira, usually playful and carefree, had grown serious, spending long hours training in the Endless River of the Water School.
The Endless River served the same purpose for Water students as the Thunder Seed Room did for those of Lightning. It was a vast dome filled entirely with water, where students would submerge themselves to train. Once completely immersed, they would enter a trance-like state in which a flowing river manifested within their mind.
The Endless River could sense each student's affinity with the water element and adjusted its current accordingly. For beginners, the river flowed gently. As one's attunement deepened, the current grew stronger and faster, until it raged like a storm-fed torrent. The greater one's elemental aptitude, the more furious the current became. When a student finally reached their limit, the Endless River would lift them gently back to the surface.
