Miri's Pov
When this started , I thought ignoring people made things easier. That if I didn't react, eventually they'd stop. But they didn't. They stared, they whispered, they smirked like they all shared some inside joke that I wasn't in on—because I was the joke. And the worst part was, I couldn't even get angry without it looking like I had something to hide.
Every hallway in the academy felt narrower than the last few days. Every step I took, someone moved aside like I reeked. Some even gagged. I wasn't surprised when someone had the guts to spill juice on my seat in one of our shared classes. If it weren't for Lisa dragging me to her table and glaring them into silence, I might've added murder to my least of charges.
At least this time I would actually be guilty.
