Miri's Pov
I felt her before I saw her.
The weight of her presence—light and humming like static—clung to my steps the entire morning. When I turned my head, Reyna was there. Not close enough to walk beside me, but not far enough to pretend it was coincidence.
It was the third day in a row.
"She's doing it again," Tara muttered under her breath as we walked into the cafeteria at lunch. She didn't bother to lower her voice. "You've got your own little duckling now, huh?"
Lina made a face. "More like a leech."
I didn't respond. I was too tired to. My patience had been wearing thin since second period, and Reyna's constant shadowing wasn't helping.
She trailed in behind us, eyes scanning the tables like she wasn't sure where to sit. But the moment we slid into our usual spot, she drifted closer, hesitating just enough to make it awkward.
"Can I… sit?" she asked, clutching her tray like it might offer protection.
I sighed, giving a half-hearted shrug. "Suit yourself."
