"What did you just say?" I asked, low and sharp, the fire in my chest threatening to spill into my fingertips.
I didn't remember crossing the distance between us. Didn't remember grabbing a fistful of her glossy blonde hair or yanking her backward with so much force that her glass slipped from her hand and shattered on the floor.
"What did you say huh?" I growled into her ear, the buzz of heat in my veins louder than the music.
"Say it again, Saela. Go on. Call him that again."
"I dare you," I whispered, close enough for her to feel the heat of my breath. "Say it again. I will set every strand of your wretched hair on fire. I swear to the goddess, I will light you up like a torch, so go on."
She was trembling. The other people at the party went silent, their chatter dying down as fast as the laughter had bloomed earlier. I could hear someone calling out in alarm. Lina? Maybe Tara? I didn't care.
