(Third person pov)
The late afternoon sun filtered lazily through the fortress windows as Kael, Lucian, Corin, Eliya, and Sera sat crowded around a low table covered in pack reports, territory allocations, and a truly offensive number of empty coffee mugs.
Naturally, peace lasted all of twelve minutes.
"I'm just saying," Kael started, elbow propped on the armrest, voice thick with that smugness that always preceded chaos. "If you're asking whose idea is better, obviously it's mine. I mean, I am stronger."
Lucian didn't even look up from the sheet he was marking. "Stronger at being wrong, maybe."
Kael turned slowly, mock-offended. "Oh? Says the wolf who's still pretending alpha blood trumps actual power?"
Lucian raised a brow. "Don't act like you don't have alpha blood, Kael. Beside I am the Alpha King."
"And I'm half-witch," Kael said, placing a hand dramatically over his chest. "Which means technically, I should be stronger. You're just a glorified dog with a title."
