Sera's Pov
By the time we made it into the city—or town, more like—I was practically dragging my feet. Not that I knew where we were exactly. I was blindly following Lucian, trusting that he had some kind of plan, even though the silent drive from the airport hadn't exactly filled me with confidence.
The day had long since fallen into night. Streetlights buzzed softly overhead, casting dim yellow pools onto cracked pavement. The town itself was small. Remote. Tucked away like a secret, its streets narrow and cobbled, lined with old stone houses whose roofs drooped under the weight of years. Lanterns swung from the doorways, casting soft gold light on the roads. Colorful banners fluttered between the houses, and laughter echoed from the town square.
Apparently, we had stumbled right into the middle of a festival.
