After securing Toru on my back, I stepped out, moving slow, eyes scanning for any sign of movement. The hallway was empty for now. I grinned, already cycling through options. "Time to test a system feature I've been ignoring."
[Emergency Stunt Double Activated]
A second me blinked into existence, a perfect copy in every detail. I directed it down the opposite hall. "Go make some noise."
It bolted, footsteps loud as hell. A few seconds later, something crashed in the distance. Voices shouted, chairs scraped, and someone yelled, "He's escaping!"
I crouched by the stairwell, watching as the League members stormed past, too busy chasing my decoy to notice me lurking in the shadows. The second the last idiot vanished down the hall, I waited a beat, just in case. No shouts, no footsteps doubling back. Good enough. I climbed the stairs fast, making sure not to get caught by some dumbass late to the chase.
Toru was still holding onto me, and I could feel how tense she was. No way in hell she was used to sneaking into villain bases naked. "Alright, now we—"
"Shut up."
Fair enough. I moved up to the next floor, keeping low. No guards, no movement. Either they were all downstairs dealing with the distraction, or they were waiting ahead. My luck being what it was, I wasn't counting on an easy exit.
I peered up from the stairwell. Kurogiri and Shigaraki were still there.
Fuck.
Before I could make a move, the wall next to me exploded. A shockwave knocked dust and debris everywhere, and the sound alone damn near burst my eardrums.
"WHO THE HELL DARES TO KIDNAP MY INTERN?!"
Mirko barreled through, nearly taking the whole damn building with her.
Behind her, an army of Pro Heroes crashed in. Ryukyu, All Might, Gran Torino, Kamui Woods—every top-ranked hero U.A. could call in.
Shigaraki stood, hand twitching. "Fucking hell."
Mirko barely glanced at him. "Yeah, yeah, do your little villain monologue later." She kicked off the ground, aiming straight for him. Shigaraki bolted back, barely dodging in time as her foot smashed through the table he was next to.
Ryukyu strode in, eyes scanning the room before locking onto me. "Where is—" She paused, noticing me. "…Oh. Hey,"
As Kamui Woods wrapped Shigaraki and Kurogiri in wood, Mirko grinned. "Did we bust your grand escape?"
I straightened. "Damn right you did."
I had to move before anyone saw Toru. If U.A. and the police found out a student had infiltrated a villain base alone, the fallout wouldn't be pretty. Lucky for her, she was still invisible to everyone but me.
All Might stepped forward. "Are you alright, Young Midoriya?"
I flashed an okay sign. "Just peach-y."
Toru bit my ear. "Did you say 'peach' on purpose?"
I ignored her.
All Might turned his attention to Shigaraki. "It is the end for you, villains. Because we are here!"
Shigaraki, bound tight, barely twitched. "Kurogiri."
Kurogiri's mist flickered weakly. "Our Nomu are not in place."
All Might's smile faded. "We already dealt with them. It is time for you to face our anger."
Shigaraki's fingers twitched against the restraints. His eyes darted toward Kurogiri, who remained still, mist barely shifting. They weren't escaping this time.
Ryukyu stepped past the wreckage. "Give them to Tartarus. We're done here."
Shigaraki let out a slow breath. "This isn't over."
Mirko stretched her arms. "Blah, blah. Shut the hell up."
All Might walked toward Shigaraki. "Where is he?"
He would keep asking but the air changed. A thick, rancid stench filled the room. It was instant, like someone had dumped a bucket of rotting garbage over everyone. Before anyone could react, every single League member started vomiting a black, tar-like substance. And just to make things worse—so did I.
"The fuck?" I managed to spit out between heaves.
[YOU STINK! THIS SHIT WILL TELEPORT YOU SOMEWHERE ELSE? WANNA GO OR SHOULD I PREVENT IT?]
I gagged, wiping my mouth. "Fucking remove it already."
My body jolted. The moment the System cut it off, my stomach settled. The others weren't so lucky—Shigaraki clutched his throat, his gagging getting worse. Spinner was practically convulsing, Magne on her hands and knees dry heaving.
Then, the real problem started.
The air split. The same black sludge spilled out, stretching like ink across the floor. A deep, guttural noise came from the openings—then something clawed its way out.
First one. Then two. Then ten.
Nomu.
All Might's stance shifted. "Endeavor, I need you here!"
The distant sounds of battle roared outside. Fire flickered through the windows, followed by the unmistakable sound of a large body hitting the pavement. The comms flared up—Endeavor's voice cutting in.
"Handling multiple on my end."
All Might clenched his fists. "Damn it."
One of the Nomu twitched, its oversized hand digging into the floor. Its mouth gaped open, black drool pooling at its lips. Without warning, it lunged.
Mirko moved first. Her foot shot out, catching the bastard in the jaw before it could even fully lift its head. The force sent its head snapping back, the body following a second later, crashing into a row of chairs.
Kamui Woods wrapped another Nomu in his tendrils, but the thing barely struggled. It looked right at him, then twisted unnaturally, snapping free.
"These ones are stronger!" He tightened his grip, reinforcing it with more branches.
Yeah, no shit. I stepped back, moving slow. With Toru clinging to my back, fighting was out of the question. Had to get out.
The black sludge that spat out the Nomu started pulling League members into it. One second, Shigaraki's crusty ass was there, the next he was gone. Same with most of the others. Then, All Might vanished too, probably spotted a bigger problem and ran off to punch it.
Ryukyu moved toward me, reaching out to grab me, but then she hesitated. She blinked, her eyes scanning the air around me before realization set in. She didn't say anything, just crouched down.
I climbed onto her hand, and she lifted us out. Before we left, I stole one last glance at the battlefield.
Mirko was going feral. A Nomu lunged for her, claws outstretched, but she didn't even flinch. Instead, she spun on her heel and brought her foot up so fast the bastard barely had time to react.
CRACK.
The Nomu's head snapped to the side. Like a damn lego. The body staggered for half a second before collapsing completely, its head hitting to the pavement, hard.
I just stared. "Holy shit."
Mirko wiped some blood off her lip and grinned. "Eyes on the road, kid."
Yeah. Time to leave.
The streets outside were a mess. Police and Pro Heroes had the area locked down, keeping civilians from getting caught in whatever fresh bullshit was about to unfold. Flames flickered in the distance, sirens blaring through the city. The sky crackled, unnatural, like a storm was brewing but not the normal kind.
I jumped off Ryukyu's hand, scanning the wreckage for my dumbass brother. The city was a mess—smoke, sirens, heroes running around like headless chickens. If Izuku was anywhere near this shitshow, I was going to beat his ass myself.
Toru was still clinging to my back, probably praying no one saw her naked ass hitching a ride. "Put me down already," she whispered.
I crouched so she could slide off. She moved fast, probably more embarrassed than anything, but at least we weren't arguing about it anymore.
"Find your clothes and get back to the others," I muttered, already looking past her. "I need to check something."
Toru grabbed my sleeve before I could move. "Ryuu—"
"Go."
She hesitated, then vanished. I didn't wait to see where she went. My feet were already moving.
[Emergency Stunt Double: ACTIVE]
I still had a few seconds left from the previous use. A second me blinked into existence, bolting toward the nearest hero for damage control. The real me cut the opposite way.
The closer I got, the worse it looked. Streets torn up, buildings half-collapsed, the sky itself looking like it wanted to shit out another villain. I spotted All Might first—hard to miss a giant muscle-bound old man throwing hands with something that looked like a rejected science experiment. The bastard he was fighting was just standing there like he wasn't even breaking a sweat.
Yeah, I didn't like that.
I slipped between wreckage, keeping low. Izuku and others weren't idiots. If they were near this fight, they were hiding. The question was where.
The ground shook again—All Might sent flying. He crashed through a building, dust and debris flying everywhere. People screamed. Cameras flashed.
[CAPTIVITY TERMINATED! PARTY FUNCTION IS ACTIVE! DUMDUM IT MEANS YOU CAN USE IT. DO YOU WANT ME TO TRANSLATE TO CAVEMAN LANGUAGE?]
I ignored the system. No need to throw a bone to a desperate dog. Blue dots popped up in my vision—eighteen of them, bunched together not far from All Might and whatever the hell he was brawling with.
I moved fast, slipping through debris and stepping over half-collapsed walls. The building barely stood, cracks lining the foundation like it was one loud noise away from coming down. Dust hung in the air, thick enough to choke on. I climbed through a shattered window and landed inside.
"Wuzzup, losers!"
One second, they were all frozen stiff with the horror show outside, the next, a blend of reactions. Shock. Relief. A few straight-up looked like I had walked out of a grave. Izuku blinked, mouth half-open. Kirishima's fist clenched before he exhaled. Kaminari let out something between a laugh and a curse. Bakugo scowled hard enough to peel paint.
Bakugo smirked. "I saved your pitiful ass. You owe me big time."
I shrugged. "Not really. Yaoyao tracked me, Izuku planned the whole thing, Yaoyao paid for your disguises, Iida's here to make sure it doesn't all go to shit, Kaminari, Kirishima, Sero, and Shoji came ready to die if necessary, Ojiro and Sato are here because they actually give a damn, the girls are here because they love me, and Mineta has no idea where the hell he is—he just followed the girls. And finally, Toru saved my pitiful ass. Am I right?"
The group just stared. Yaoyorozu looked at me like I had grown another head. "How did you know I tracked you?"
I grinned. "Because I'm awesome."
Mineta glanced around. "Wait—where are we, really?"
Shoji smacked him upside the head.
Bakugo's smirk twitched. "And why the hell am I here?"
I chuckled. "Just to say you saved my pitiful ass."
Bakugo clicked his tongue, arms crossing, clearly debating whether or not to blow something up.
He turned, almost left, then stopped.
He glared at me, hard. "…Tch. Try not to get kidnapped next time, dumbass."
Kirishima grinned. "That's his way of saying he cares." He then gave me a thumbs-up, grinning. "Glad to see you're still breathing, man."
I grinned back. "Glad to see you're still dumb enough to follow me into danger."
Kaminari let out a breath, rubbing his face. "Holy shit, I was sweating. You know how pissed off everyone would've been if we got here and you were already dead?"
Jiro jabbed him with her elbow. "And we're not out yet, dumbass."
Todoroki stood near the window, eyes scanning the street. "We need to move. The longer we stay, the worse it gets."
