Chapter 2 - The First Night

A trident shot by one of the struck me, while the other missed. Pain, I felt immense pain. I was surprisingly not that bothered by it; after all, I was far more bothered by the threat to my life than some measly abstract sensation not useful to me at the moment. I noticed a group of 3 such human-shaped monsters coming towards me, two of them equipped with a trident and one bare-handed. I swam evadingly through the swamp. SWOSH! SWOSH! THUD I luckily dodged two of the tridents. PUCHI FWOSH The barehanded blue monster attacked me, and I took a knockback and drifted underwater, and soon land came in my sight. I was down by 3 hearts. The two trident-wielding blue monsters with hollow eye sockets filled with water, and having no eyes, stared into my eyes as they drifted towards me.

I started evasively maneuvering and drifting towards the surface. SWOSH! SWOSH! PUCHI! THUD. I embraced as pain coursed through me; I was down to 4 hearts. I drifted to the edge of the land and quickly escaped the swamp.

I quickly consumed all the raw steaks I got from cows I had slaughtered while moving forward to escape the pursuit of those drowned blue monsters. After running for a bit, I finally implemented the immediate survival idea I thought of a few instances earlier. I dug 3 blocks down and placed a block above myself. My hunger bar was 80% filled, and I had recovered 5 hearts.

Now that I was safe, I started thinking of the implications of all I had recently discovered. There was a high probability that humans existed since zombies were there. This phenomenon of the existence of other humans had both pros and cons for my pursuit. After all, their existence meant they could threaten my pursuit and existence; on the other hand, they were an asset.

It is the way of the intelligent to EXPLOIT the eccentric laws of nature and its phenomenon. The less intelligent are EXPLOITED by the more intelligent. In layman's terms, this is the difference between an animal and a man.

Overall, the existence of others would prove more beneficial in most cases for me.

BOOM!

Suddenly, there was an explosion above me. The blocks around me were all destroyed and were floating. I had even taken a bit of damage and had half health remaining. CLANK! Suddenly, a female with a pointed hat appeared above me and chucked a vial at me. I quickly dodged it and started sprinting away. CLANK! Another vial came in succession and hit a few steps behind me. I kept running for a while until I reached fifty blocks away from the site of the battle.

I had 5 hunger points and 7 hearts left by the end of the ordeal. This time, I initiated another of my survival plans, which took precaution to prevent the explosion incident like last time. I started to jump and place the dirt blocks I got after the explosion underneath my feet. By the time I was done placing 2 blocks, a big, green, slimy creature entered my sight, hopping its way towards me.

I was again on the run. While sprinting and jumping to increase speed, I also started placing dirt blocks under my feet. After traversing about 20 blocks via this process using 3 dirt blocks according to my accurate and precise memory. After this, I quickly started bridging upwards, and after reaching 15 blocks in the air, I stopped. I had used up all my dirt blocks and 13 stone blocks in the whole escape and process of building a safe spot.

Suddenly, a spider from a group of spiders near a tree 5 blocks horizontally away from me jumped at the base of my tower from the top of the tree. The rest of the spiders also started to move to join their friend and the monster horde present below me. The spider then started to climb the tower!

BAM! When it was 3 blocks below me jumped and did a critical attack on it with the stone axe I had equiped. POOF! The spider fell and died on the spot.

BOOM

There is an explosion underneath me. Before any of the other spiders could follow their friend's path, which was totally fine with me, a creeper exploded. I know I am safe. Only the 2 dirt blocks and a stone block of the 1x1 tower below me, along with the surface of the biome, were torn apart. Two zombies and a skeleton also had died. I noticed the string dropped by the spider was destroyed. A horde of monsters was still around me. As I deduced correctly, I was out of the skeletons' range, making my position safe in the current scenario.

I noticed a building quite far away from the top of the tower; this put me off the hook, as there was little chance people from there might prove hostile.

Speaking of chances, a group of 5 grey colored humans, each equipped with a crossbow, and one of them who was probably the leader had a banner, had entered my line of sight. They slowly on move towards my current location without a pause pathfinding there way to me.

My tranquil, expressionless countenance changed into one of a frightened person at a dead end.

Ahem. I croakingly coughed. When five of them had reached 30 blocks away from my current position.

I put on a real looking smile on my scared face, and looked towards them whose attention was already hooked to me.
