Atharva : Nithya s..she attempted suicide
For a second, Arjun didn't speak. The words didn't land. They hung in the air like a gunshot waiting for the echo.
Then everything moved at once.
Chairs scraped the floor.
Arjun : Dr. Gautham , we can continue this conversation another time . we have to go.
Without waiting for Gautham respond, they left the hospital immediately .
After sometime . reached the hospital where Nithya is getting treated.
The hospital corridors were dimly lit, the cold fluorescent lights flickering slightly overhead. The rain had followed them, now tapping restlessly against the windows as if echoing the storm brewing inside Arjun.
He and Atharva rushed in through the main entrance, rushed to the emergency wing.
As they neared the ward, they spotted Constable Ravi, the officer assigned to watch over Nithya during her remand-based medical observation, standing nervously near the nurse's station, shifting from foot to foot.
Arjun's eyes narrowed the moment he saw him.
Arjun : (storming up to him): "Where the hell were you?"
Constable Ravi (startled): "S-Sir… I just stepped out for a minute. I--
Arjun : stop with your excuses . Your were assigned to make sure that she doesn't try to do something . And you failed that .
Constable : Sir i--
Arjun : shut up and get lost from my sight
Atharva told Ravi to leave to station.
The clock on the wall seemed to tick louder as Arjun and Atharva stood in the sterile hallway corridor outside the Operation Theatre, the tension thick between them. The hum of fluorescent lights was the only sound in the otherwise quiet corridor.
Atharva (glancing at the door): "The doctor will be out soon. We'll know her condition."
Arjun didn't respond immediately. His gaze was fixed on the operation theatre doors, his jaw clenched, fists tightening at his sides.
The operation theatre doors opened with a soft hiss, and the doctor stepped out. His expression was grim, but there was a glimmer of cautious optimism.
Arjun : How's she doctor ?
Doctor (exhaling deeply): "She's stable for now. But it was close. She lost a lot of blood. The cut on her wrist were severe, but we managed to save her. Physically, she's out of immediate danger."
Atharva let out a breath of relief, but Arjun's gaze never left the doctor.
Arjun (sharply): "And mentally? Will she recover?"
The doctor looked between Arjun and Atharva, his brow furrowing as he spoke.
Doctor: "Mentally… it's going to take time. The emotional trauma is significant. It seems she's sucidical and she might try again . (pausing before continuing): "There's one more thing officers . Nithya... she's pregnant."
Arjun and Atharva froze, their eyes widening in shock.
Atharva (in disbelief): "Pregnant? How... how far along?"
Doctor: "About four weeks. Thankfully we treated her at correct time , so the baby is fine . But we are not sure that she will not try again to suicide. She's sedated . you can see her after 2 hour.
Arjun and Atharva nodded as okay still processing about the fact that Nithya is pregnant and chances that she may attempt suicide again because of the current situation .
Atharva : sir. what are we going to do now . It's getting complicated more. first , the murder, then her being suicidical and miscarriage . And now she's....pregnant . And has possibility to attempt again .
Arjun stood silently without responding to Atharva . Then he took his phone and called his senior CBI officer Parthiban (from ch.2) . line connected
Arjun : Sir, I need permission for the Safehouse Act .
