Chapter 143 - Redfield's Swordsmanship

In the small town, Garp stood up from the top of the church and set down his donut, wrapping his arms in flowing Haki,

As he watched the wave of sword aura and the huge boulders flying his way, he grinned.

"This is intense."

He stomped down with one foot, and the rooftop of the church cracked and sank in a circular shape.

In the next second, he appeared in midair using Geppo. With a powerful strike, he shattered both the sword aura and the boulders.

Boom! Boom! Boom! Boom!

* * *

On the mountaintop.

Clang!

Redfield's longsword clashed again with Kong's fist.

His body leaned slightly backward, ready to dodge at any moment. The sword in his hand erupted with forceful energy as he pressed down.

Kong twisted his elbow forward to resist the sword's pressure, then turned his fist into a palm and slammed it against the flat of the blade. Simultaneously, he raised his right hand and pointed it like a sharp sword, aiming straight for Redfield's heart.

Unable to stop the overwhelming force, the pirate's weapon was knocked to the right as a razor-sharp wave of energy slashed through the atmosphere.

The mountaintop where they stood was sliced in half. Then under the enormous impact, the top half of the mountain lifted slightly into the air.

Sensing the incoming strike, Redfield took full advantage of his prepared backward-leaning posture and quickly retreated. Kong stepped forward several times in a row, relentlessly closing the distance.

Rumble!

The suspended half of the mountain came crashing down, shaking the ground.

Startled, Redfield wavered slightly, but he didn't have time to regain his balance as Kong's attack had already reached him.

Without caring about appearances, he fell backward and rolled to the side. He then rose to one knee and stabbed his longsword into the ground, releasing a wave of sword aura.

The earth rose violently, surging toward Kong. At such close range, a hundred-meter-high wave of rock and soil swept across the field, burying the fleet admiral beneath it.

Boom!!!

Redfield stood up and gripped his sword tightly. Stepping forward, he shot out low along the ground like a missile, charging toward Kong with his hands moving behind his back to gather momentum.

A blinding flash of sword light streaked through the air, and the rocky layer that had buried Kong was cut in two.

Boom!

A massive shadow burst into the sky from within the debris as Kong appeared in midair, holding a giant boulder several dozen meters in diameter with one hand.

Buzz!

Jet-black Armament Haki instantly coated the massive rock, and with a firm grip, he hurled it down with all his might.

The pitch-black boulder shot down like a meteor, smashing toward Redfield, who stared at the incoming projectile. His left hand, covered in Haki, slashed horizontally.

The boulder split in two, at the same time, his right hand thrust his sword forward.

Clang!

A loud metallic clash rang out.

Kong, right behind the falling boulder, had thrown a punch straight at Redfield. It was blocked by the longsword.

The pirate barely held him off for a second before the crushing force began pushing him backward, and a series of thunderous blasts echoed across the mountain.

Each of Redfield's steps left behind craters, as if bombs had gone off.

The moment he managed to absorb most of the force and stand his ground, he lifted his left knee, striking Kong's chin with full strength.

The fleet admiral's head snapped back and he flew uncontrollably upward as Redfield's sword slashed toward his neck.

But while Kong's body was airborne, his right leg lashed out at lightning speed, slamming into the pirate's chest.

Boom!!!

The two of them were forced apart.

Kong stood there, drenched in cold sweat and breathing heavily. Half of his spiky hair had been sliced off.

Redfield's chest was dented, a trace of blood dripping from the corner of his mouth. He had taken a kick from Kong, who struck back just a moment after the exchange.

He had lost control for a bit and aimed a bit too high with his slash. As a result, all he managed to do was cut off Kong's hair. It didn't cause any real damage, but he ended up breaking three of his own ribs.

Brushing the dust from his body, Redfield said calmly, "As expected of the Fleet Admiral of the Marines, Steel Bone Kong."

Kong's arms glowed with flowing Armament Haki. "Are you going to surrender?"

Redfield simply lifted his longsword and pointed it at Kong.

Swish!

His entire body became like a massive blade, surging forward with sword energy, aiming straight for the fleet admiral.

Redfield moved so fast that even someone as skilled in martial arts as Kong wasn't able to fully evade.

A dazzling wave of sword light tore through the mountain, split the island, and carved through the sea, stretching as far as the eye could see.

In the small town, Garp stood beside Tsuru. The two were using Observation Haki to sense the clash.

Watching the sword energy that split the sky and ocean, the former couldn't help but comment, "That's a bit much. This sword technique… it's way stronger than Shiki's."

Tsuru's brows furrowed. "Be ready. We absolutely can't let Redfield get away. Someone like him... alone, with nothing to fear... if he escapes, it'll be a real problem."

Garp laughed heartily. "Relax. There's no way I'm letting him escape."

He kept his eyes fixed on the distant battlefield.

Back at the mountain peak, the two men crossed paths, then separated.

Kong glanced at the deep sword wound on his arm, where bone was already visible, and reinforced it with Haki.

"How many more times can you unleash an attack like that?"

Redfield raised his sword once more, pointing it at Kong. "And how many more times can you dodge?"

Then, he chuckled lightly. "So that's how it is. Eight times, huh."

Kong frowned. 'Reading my thoughts? That's annoying...'

But what he didn't know was that behind Redfield's calm smile, his heart had grown heavy.

He now understood the amount of power needed to injure Kong. But unleashing that kind of explosive force eight times... was impossible.

If he did it just five more times, he'd be completely drained. By then, he'd be nothing more than a sitting duck.

With a flick of his sword, Redfield changed from a thrust to a slash. A blood-red wave of sword energy hundreds of meters long burst forward, carving a deep circular trench into the ground as it passed.

Like a swirling crimson dragon, it spiraled toward the fleet admiral. As it surged in, Kong raised his fist and struck it.

"Haahhh!!!"

The sword energy collided with his fist, and sparks of lightning crackled in the air.

Kong's arm suddenly swelled to three times its size, pressing down with immense force.

The crimson sword energy immediately reversed direction, shooting back toward Redfield several times faster than before.

The pirate snorted coldly and unleashed a blast of sword light from his blade.

Boom!!!

A mushroom cloud nearly a kilometer high rose into the sky.
